Now, Paul Simon is a commie and a friend of Woodie Allen but that commie can really write a good lyric.
“And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence”
Excerpt from “The Sounds of Silence” by Paul Simon
Now you’ve done it, that song will be on loop play in my brain all day.
As a kid in Brooklyn, Simon and Garfunkel sort of provided the soundtrack to my younger days. As I said, a pinko commie I’m sure but a very able word smith.
