Vox Day Has a Good Link on the Star Wars Debacle

So, it seems Disney has realized that Kathleen Kennedy drove the Star Wars franchise into the ground by turning a boys’ adventure fantasy into a girl empowerment snoozefest.  And according to the source quoted nobody is willing to take over from her because the risk is too great.  http://voxday.blogspot.com/2018/06/will-no-one-rid-disney-of-this.html .

Oh, this is too much!  Can schadenfreude cause a stroke?  I laughed so hard I think I burst an aneurysm in my brain.  When you add up the ESPN, Star Wars and the Roseanne debacles SJWs must have cost Disney at least several billion dollars in lost revenue.  Can you imagine the heat that Iger must be feeling?  Oh, it’s marvelous.  And with the ninth movie of the Star Wars saga in production already and J.J. Abrams refusing to take more than directorial control over that pile of risk I wouldn’t be surprised if the House of Disney doesn’t have a major shake-up on the horizon.  It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of progressives.

Read the whole thing including the info at the link and the comments at Vox Popoli, they’re hysterical.  It’s like a textbook case of feminism running a male based activity straight into the ditch.  Oh, my poor ribs, they ache.

Let’s review, Disney pays Lucas umpty-ump billions of dollars for a franchise that is basically a boomer/millennial male-bonding experience and they let a bitter feminist turn it into young Rosie O’Donnell with a light saber meets the First Wives’ Club.  With apologies to Count Rugen, I think that’s the worst thing I ever heard.  Is it possible that Disney is purposefully bankrupting itself to help tank the economy to spite Trump?  It seems plausible.  I mean no one could be this stupid right?

Full disclosure, I’m not the target audience for any of these movies.  I thought the first Star Wars movie was great fun when I saw it on the big screen back in the seventies.  But the second one was kind of disjointed and not as much fun.  The third one was a hot mess.  I mean, ewoks?  After that I was glad that it seemed to be over.  The newer editions are by most accounts terrible and I couldn’t imagine wasting time on them.  But I brought my grandsons to see the seventh one and I was amazed at how derivative it was from the first movie and how unpleasant it turned out.  Now, I’m far from disappointed that the series looks to be going down for the count.  What someone should do is start a new series based on an interesting and fun sci-fi or fantasy series that will draw kids and their parents in.  Hell, they could update the Lensman series and they’d get more mileage out of that than they’ve managed from Lucas’ anemic vision.  The same can be said for the Marvel and DC cinema series.  They’ve milked those characters and story arcs so strenuously that there’s nothing left but watery skim.

So, read the article and get a good laugh.  But honestly, we’re going to need to let these movie studios go broke.  They’re too stupid to live.

Good Things Come To Those That Fight

A friend of mine at work who follows President Trump on Twitter alerted me that SCOTUS had struck down the Lower Court ruling against the Muslim Travel Ban.  https://apnews.com/3a20abe305bd4c989116f82bf535393b/Court-upholds-Trump-travel-ban,-rejects-discrimination-claim

My immediate thought was, finally!  And that is the beauty of Donald Trump, he’s indefatigable.  They attack and delay and obfuscate and he just keeps coming back to his purpose.  And this must be the first man with a backbone and a work ethic to inhabit the White House since the 1980s.  Hallelujah!  So Gorsuch continues to pay off and in a few days we’ll see whether we also have to wait for Kennedy to go away.  He has been moderating his extreme left-wing social biases in the last couple of decisions but I’d feel a lot better if he were about to call it a career.  And what a relief it is to have someone who understands politics and how to sell a plan and how to strong arm the mindless boobs that make up the majority of the Republican Congressional Delegation.  Since the President’s poll numbers have continued to rise the spineless congress critters have begun to take heart and maybe even start acting like the dominant party that their numbers represent.  Of course it’s too much to ask for them to understand what their own constituencies are shouting to them from the rooftops, “Stop the Illegals!, Build the Wall!”  That would be beyond their barely reptilian brains.  But maybe they can be taught to trust their party’s leader once he has shown them what winning looks like.

But I digress.  My point is that with someone running the ship, someone who isn’t a feckless dilettante without any concern for the people he’s supposed to be leading, actual progress on the right wing agenda can be made and, in fact, quite rapidly.  You just have to keep up the pressure and keep fighting back.  And I predict that once some real damage gets done to their agenda, the leftists will start to deflate and even the media will begin to lose heart.  These are not strong people, they are herd creatures and once they get stampeded it’ll be every roach for himself.  And that brings me to the Mueller – Sessions situation.  Something is going on there under the surface that must be something like an arm wrestling contest.  On the surface there seems to be no motion, nothing going on, but what is occurring is a dynamic tension that can’t last.  I predict that President Trump is positioning his forces there to allow both sides to retreat from the field of battle without a decisive event.  Basically there must be a mutually assured destruction in place and once both sides figure out how to retreat they will.

So that’s my read.  Trump is banging away at this agenda of things and every once in a while he makes enough progress against the concerted forces of the media and the swamp to declare victory and plant his flag on some hard fought hill.  And they call that bragging.  I’d call them rallying cries to the troops.  Well done Mr. President.

This Week in the Trenches

There’s an old Air Force expression, “If you’re not catching flak, you’re not over the target.”  Well the White House and the Cabinet are certainly taking plenty of flak.  And I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re over the target.  Yesterday I saw this headline  51% favor wall .  And at the same time the media and the craziest of the Dems (e.g. Maxine Waters) started advocating harassing anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi,  Dems gin up a mob to harass the White House  .  It got so bad that Schumer and Pelosi had to come out publicly condemning open calls for harassment.  I’m guessing that the Dems are starting to see the handwriting on the wall.  They’ve gone from blustering about a blue tsunami to whistling past the graveyard, to full panic mode.  Of course, desperation can spark irrational behavior and that can have unexpected results but on the whole, it looks to me like a sea change is beginning to occur in public opinion.  When the public sees Italy closing its ports to refugee boats and even the Germans demanding an end to open borders it’s hard to not see the writing on the wall.

What’s next?  Will Jeb Bush and Bill Kristol show up wearing MAGA hats and asking for face time with the President?  Hopefully not but I wouldn’t be shocked to see them begin the great rapprochement.  After all, the GOP establishment hated Reagan’s guts until he conquered the world.  Then they canonized him.

As I stated previously, I’ve gone full-Pollyanna on the future under Trump and so I’m slightly delusional but I suspect that even the deepest pessimists are starting to see daylight.

Of course, the real test is when CNN or MSNBC switches sides.  Expect to see Satan wearing mittens and a parka but don’t be too surprised when it happens.  My guess is if the midterms go particularly well for the Republicans and Mueller throws in the towel then the floodgates will open and it will be everybody jumping on board the Trump Train.

Gee, do you think it’s too late for Rosie O’Donnell to mend those fences.

ZMan Sums Up the Last Eighty Year of American Politics Succinctly

His thesis is that the Democrats ran out of gas in the 1970s and the only things that have kept them in the game since  then is

  1. The Media’s mendacity
  2. The monumental uselessness of the Bush presidencies.

I think he has a point.  Of course considering the demographic trajectory we are on it may have been enough to permanently doom us to Democrat hegemony.
