The statement seems to make sense to me as a practical expression. From a philosophical point of view I guess it is an expression of the inherently imperfect nature of the world. I acknowledge this but am ambivalent about it. I guess I’m something of an idealist.

I agree that Life without pain has no meaning in regard to psychic and emotional pain.

Pretty sure that a painful life is no guarantee of a meaningful life even if we could agree what “meaningful” means in the context of a life.
Yes, some people can’t find meaning in life at all. But life is pain. At least in the sense that life is just the process of dying. When we come against death either in other people we care about or ourselves that grief is an important form of pain. To never feel any kind of pain at all must be extremely strange.
I agree. If every thing is either good OR bad, there’s nothing to which either can be compared, so either way it’s meaningless.
