08JAN2019 – President Trump’s Border Wall Speech

I watched the speech just now.  I liked my version of it better but I’ll give him a solid B.  He painted it as a humanitarian problem and also a crime problem.  That’s good.  He gave a litany of illegal alien crime stories.  There were murders, rapes, beheadings, dismemberments, you name it.  He laid the blame at the Democrats’ feet for not getting the wall funded.  And he compared the five-billion-dollar price tag to the five hundred-billion-dollar trade in illegal drugs that crosses the border every year.  He listed the horrendous abuse that happens to migrants being trafficked across the border.  He said that 33 percent of women migrants are raped and that many of the migrants are held as virtual slaves in the sex trade.  I understand that Pelosi and Schumer will have a chance to rebut the speech but life is short so I skipped listening to them.  I’m sure I’ll do better even if I just end up using the time to floss my teeth.

I wonder if there’s a chance that the Democrats will cave soon.  If not, I hope the President has a Plan B.  I like the idea of getting the military to build the wall.  They did a bit of that in Iraq I remember and I’m sure they could get it erected pretty quickly once they got rolling.  I’m trying to understand how long the government shutdown can go on before something critical goes wrong.  Is the IRS considered important or not?  Does this mean I don’t have to pay my taxes?  Or does it just mean my refund will be late.  Well, from my point of view I don’t care if the government stays shut for a couple of years.  As long as the military and law enforcement is funded the rest can just wait.

Well, that’s about all I can think of.  It was a short speech and I suppose time will tell if the Democrats will cave.  Skeletor Pelosi and Crying Chuck, the ball is in your court.

Personally I would have just played Crying Chucks speech from 2009 stating, and I quote, “Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple”. Listen to it. Probably almost better than Trumps speech.

It’s almost as if the real Chuck Schumer has been replaced by a pod version. He looks similar but has no brain and can only cry and shriek.

I liked the speech but I have to ask: What’s next?
Do we crash the switchboard and servers by calling and sending emails demanding the wall be built?
Is this the only thing that congress will listen to?
Ok, I’m in. Let’s pick a day. We pick one day to call and email. The calls are respectful and we say “Tell senator or representative so and so to fund the wall. The emails are very simple: “Build the wall”.
If we want to be snarkey, we can follow up with “Can you hear me now?”

Yeah, probably the best way. Here in New England our Senators and Representatives are 100% swamp dwellers but there is at least a feeling of solidarity if we all take action. And in the less solidly Democrat areas it would do some good. I’ll do it tonight. I’ll put up a copy of what I send.

Here’s the link to find your Congress Critters’ contact info. Instead of an email address they have a website and a form to contact them. They’ll want your contact information and your subject.

      Here’s my template:

      Dear Congressional Representative/Senator ___________________
I am writing you to respectfully request that you vote to support President Trump’s request for funding to build the wall on our southern border with Mexico. I believe this wall is vital for our nation’s security and well-being. Thank you for your attention.

Notice my lack of obscenities or taunts. This is key.
