A week ago I went to the local butterfly conservatory. I’d been there before but now I was allowed to use a monopod because it was off hours. Same butterflies but more fun. I’ll be sprinkling in the shots between other stuff for the next few months.

Wonderful! I used to see zillions of butterflies as a kid, now, very few.
New England doesn’t really have much agriculture anymore and so lower levels of insecticide in the area so maybe that accounts for the relatively good presence of butterflies in the summer. I’ve been letting a lot of milkweed grow in some areas of the property so I’ve been getting a good amount of monarch caterpillars and butterflies lately. But it was still nice seeing these tropical butterflies while the landscape is still covered with snow and ice.
That came out well. You own this lens now?
Yes. I rented it last summer and loved it so much I got it for Christmas. The 90 macro is a fantastic lens for butterfly chasing.
