Interacting in the Brave New World – Part 2

At the end of the first installment of this series I said “Next time we’ll talk about how you talk to a prospective wife.”  Well, I think I’ll leave that one for a later date, mostly because my dating advice is more than forty years out of date.  Instead I think I’ll talk about how to interact with the “right-wing.”  I put that in scare quotes because even mapping that territory is so fraught with contention that I’m liable to set off a turf war just trying to alphabetize the list.  So, I will speak in generalities and I will err on the side of caution.

My handy-dandy guidelines for interacting within the right-wing:

  • Don’t get involved in intra-mural wars. If two right-wing factions are at odds let them settle it themselves.  The last thing anyone needs is you playing marriage counselor to the Alt-Right.
  • Don’t ever discuss family squabbles with the enemy. That includes “neutral” parties who claim to be “conservatives.”  Look at the helpful NeverTrumpers at the National Review and the Weekly Standard.  They’re just full of good advice for us poor rubes in Trump Land.
  • You don’t have to agree with anything that you consider morally wrong just to “fit in.” Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to declare jihad against those who disagree with you.  Just walk away.  Find a camp where you are comfortable.  It’s a very big world.
  • Going along with the last point don’t attack to your right. Even if you disagree with someone you consider too extreme, don’t take it upon yourself to police the right.  Let the lefties fight their own battles.  Don’t do it for them.
  • Whenever it is at all possible, support right wing groups financially, politically, socially and with morale boosting. And especially do it at the expense of the left-wing.  And do it even if it has a penalty in terms of quality, cost or status.  Think of it as part of the war effort.  Eventually it should pay dividends.
  • Be slow to take offense. There are many folks out there who let zeal get the better of their manners.  I try to add an extra dollop of courtesy when corresponding on-line with someone I don’t know well.  Many people have a very excitable writing style when discussing highly inflammatory subject matter, which includes just about everything likely to come up in one of these political discussions.  Tread lightly.  Sometimes it’s best to agree to disagree and even let the other guy get the last word and just walk away.  Winning the internet is a lonely assignment.
  • And finally, have fun. There are a lot of good people out there who are looking for the chance to share their thoughts and experiences in the trenches.  Even some of the lefties can be decent folks.  Just don’t let them borrow any money.  They won’t pay you back.  They’re communists you know.

Back to the Future (Make That Back to Heinlein’s Future History)

Back in the nineteen-forties and –fifties Robert A Heinlein was writing his “Future History” stories about the time period that currently is the recent past. And on his very impressive chart somewhere between the beginning of space flight and the beginning of a theocratic dictatorship in the United States was a period around the nineteen sixties that he called the “Crazy Years.”  You get a flavor for what he meant in a story called “The Year of the Jackpot.”  In this story social mores were unravelling.  Women would spontaneously strip naked in public without knowing why they were doing it and transvestite men and women would challenge the authorities with prosecution for daring to notice that they were queer.  Whether Heinlein was truly prescient or whether he just detected the beginnings of the curve and extrapolated it to its outlandish extreme is unknown to me.  But obviously he was being cautious.  No kidding, the current events that greet each of us as we survey the contents of our daily purveyor of fake news is well beyond what would have passed for science fiction or parody a few decades ago.  States are suing the federal government to prevent it from ascertaining if a census form is being filled out by an illegal alien.  A “woman” who used to be a man is marrying “man” who used to be a woman and we are supposed to believe that somehow now a man will be giving birth to the child.  A porn actor is suing the President’s lawyer for defamation of character.  Does a porn actor even have a character that can be defamed?  We’ve been laughing at these insanities for decades but none of it has gone away or even slowed the march to the brink of insanity.  Heinlein’s theocratic dictatorship is looking less and less like a nightmare scenario and more and more like a really good idea.  I’m really starting to wonder how much worse Sharia Law would be than the current politically correct straight jacket we currently endure.  At least under it there are easily recognizable roles for the traditional individuals most of us remember as normal.

Heinlein later in his career wrote a sort of spy novel with a female replicant heroine called “Friday.” In that universe the United States and Canada had balkanized into a number of smaller states.  Some of the states mentioned are Brit-Can, Quebec, the Alaska Free State, the California Confederacy, the Republic of Texas, the Vegas Free State and the Chicago Imperium.  This later novel is significantly less optimistic than his earlier works.  I definitely don’t claim that Robert Heinlein was particularly more skilled as a prognosticator than any other seers around but I begin to see a rationale for separating from behavior that keeps trending not only farther and farther from normalcy but even begins closing in on suicidal.  I still hope that the path forward is the majority of Americans rejecting the progressivist nightmare that is currently unfolding and at the least restore the conditions needed to allow a functional society.  But I have to admit I’m starting to worry that the Alt-Right may not be just making up their apocalypse.  I better get my passport stamped for the Republic of Texas, or should that be the Vegas Free State?

The ZMan Counsels the Zombies of the Right

The ZMan has a very interesting post, “Day Walkers.” He makes an analogy between the Alt-Right and the zombie-vampires in I Am Legion.  He equates right wing speakers going on campus to vampires attacking humans in the daylight, basically a vampire suicide scenario.  I haven’t had a chance to think this whole analogy out completely but I definitely see what he is talking about and it is worth thinking about.

The ZMan Addresses Anti-Semites

The Dissident Right has a generous contingent of people who spend a very large amount of time discussing the JQ (Jewish question).  The ZMan decided to define his stance on and explain his ambivalence toward anti-Semitism.  Essentially, he doesn’t share the belief that all the world’s ills are attributable to a Jewish cabal.  But by the same token he doesn’t consider those who do believe it to be literally Hitler.  He makes a comparison to show how he ranks anti-Semitism in the universe of possible conditions.  He asks which would you prefer as a neighbor, an anti-Semite or a methamphetamine dealer?

This is an interesting stance.  He has split the difference between the Alt-Right and the Establishment GOP.  I’ll explain.  The Establishment GOP would alert the media that they were beginning the crusade to make the world safe from anti-Semites.  On the flip side the Alt-Right would debate whether the worst offense of the Jews was engineering 9-11 or the fluorination of water.

So that’s the take.  He won’t join them but he won’t spend his time attacking them.  Seems reasonable.  I think the point is that the Left’s stance on anti-Semitism is that it is both the greatest sin and the one they get to define.  It’s like the race card.  If you criticize the BLM movement because they are irrational black supremacists that use violence and arson to blackmail cities into handcuffing the police and allowing unfettered crime in black neighborhoods and the adjoining areas then you are a racist.  If you think that Jewish liberals spear-head many of the movements and activities that have damaged our country or you notice that they make up a large part of the left-wing media and Hollywood then you are an anti-Semite.  The funny thing is you can be an anti-Semite even if you are a conservative Jew!  And so, this allows the Left to divide the Right by constantly separating off a part of the group as anti-Semitic and shaming the rest of the Right into shunning them.  This recalls William Buckley declaring the John Birch Society beyond the pale.  Meanwhile the Left is never required to divorce itself from BLM, Antifa or any of the really crazy types under their umbrella.

So I think the ZMan is more or less correct on this stance.  You can disagree or even dislike their views but that doesn’t make it your job to police their beliefs.  Just as the Left doesn’t sort out their problems between Sharia Law and Homosexuality.  Basically the enemy of my enemy is not someone I have to go after just because my enemy says so.

I would say that I’m probably quite a bit less accommodating of anti-Semitism than the ZMan.  Although aware that a large majority of Jewish Americans are very liberal and Democratic voters I don’t feel that they are any more or less at fault than all the other liberals and Democrats in the country.  And I know of some very conservative American Jews that are fully aware of the harm the Left is causing.  My next-door neighbor as a kid growing up in Brooklyn was a Sephardic Jew who had lived in Israel, served in the IDF during the early years, worked in the Italian Merchant Marine and got along in a neighborhood full of every kind of people.  He was a proud American and a religious man who was friendly with his Italian American neighbors almost to a fault.  So, I prefer to take people one at a time.

But by the same token I see the harm that is caused by allowing the Left to define what is allowable belief and what must be condemned.  That should be up to us and anti-Semitism doesn’t need to be our overwhelming concern while currently confronted with the constant harangue from the left about “white privilege” and “transphobia.”  We have more pressing concerns than “actual Hitler” jumping out from behind every “Bush.”  Basically, to the Left we’re all “actual Hitler” already.

11MAR2018 – Current State of Affairs

Here we are, believe it or not, fast approaching the first quarter mile turn on the metaphorical 2018 One Mile Trump Derby Race and Fashion Show.  Currently, the favorite, God-Emperor (1) is ahead of SJW’s Last Hope (13) and JEB’s Your Daddy (17) by at least 8 lengths and his jockey has now reversed his seat and is making funny faces at the rest of the field as they rapidly shrink into the middle-distance.  Abandoning the horse racing metaphor (‘cause I can’t think of anything more), we have CNN and MSNBC praising President Trump’s initiative with North Korea, the President of the Steelworkers’ Union telling Chuck Todd that Trump will get electoral support from the rank and file over his trade stance and NeverTrumper Senator Dean Heller is slobbering over President Trump in the forlorn hope that this will help him win his primary.  Oh baby, the times they are a changin.

And the only real threat on the horizon, Mueller and his Russian witch-hunt, seems to be turning into a case of the besieger becoming the besieged.  I get the impression that the Trump Administration is building a case against Mueller to be used to put some teeth into a tit for tat agreement to end his investigation.

And let’s look at the political environment.  The Media is hanging around porn shoots trying to scare up interest in impeachment.  Congressional Democrats keep insisting that 2018 is their year to win back the House and Senate.  Congressional Republicans are trying to memorize the phrase tax cuts and jobs.  The NeverTrumpers are becoming increasingly lonely and confused.  The Dissident and Alt-Right are becoming so confident that they are almost giddy.  Some of them are toning down parts of their message to broaden their appeal.  Others are actually hardening their responses to leftists in the Social Media and the broader culture.  In general, there is a sense that the tide is turning against the left.  Whether this change is momentary or something that is gaining momentum is still unclear.  But there is definitely a change going on.  Good.

The Left of course is counter-attacking furiously wherever it can.  Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have basically expelled the Right from their sites.  California has declared war on ICE and the Federal Government.  And the activists federal judges are doing everything up to and including criminal malfeasance to block the Trump Administration wherever they can.  But I think they know they are getting their butts kicked.  Basically, these are delaying actions, scorching the earth behind their retreat.  Good.

So, what about me?  How do I feel about all this?  I am generally optimistic.  I think President Trump has shown that he can handle random catastrophes like the school shooting and deflect a lot of the media noise away from himself and his agenda.  And with the extremely strong economic news and the positive foreign policy news he’s positioned to help the hapless Republicans weather the 2018 midterms.

As a sanity check I understand that bad things are going to happen intermittently throughout the Trump Administration.  And some of them may be so dire that they destroy the progress currently being made.  But that’s the nature of life.  What Trump has done is demonstrate that we need a leader as President not a bureaucrat.  We must demand that whoever is the next President gets results.  He must work for us and not the global cartel.  I just hope Mike Pence is taking good notes and Donald Trump will give us his honest opinion of who his successor should be.

So, there we are.  Things are good and look to get even better.  Maybe Justice Kennedy will do the right thing.  He can vote constitutionally for freedom of religion on the Wedding Baker case and then retire to his beach house on Fire Island and allow a deciding vote Right Wing Justice to ascend to the bench.  We can hope to see the Justice Department prosecuting California for obstructing the immigration laws.  And we can hope to see Mueller ride off into the sunset with his tail between his legs.  Stay tuned.  Better days seem to be upon us.

Is the Alt-Lite Helping, Hurting or Neither?

I was listening to the ZMan’s Friday Podcast today.  In one segment he raised the question whether people like Jordan Peterson helped or hurt the right-wing cause.  Peterson is a psychologist academic who is battling the politically correct behavior codes in Canada’s universities (and other areas of life).  He is a civic nationalist who does not espouse any ethnic nationalist leanings and in fact specifically rejects any white nationalism as the flip side of the identity politics on the left that he rejects.  ZMan concluded that for the most part the civic nationalists were a detriment.  This he said was because they tended to position themselves barely to the right of leftists.  And moreover, they were programmed to lose every fight.  Their only function was to register each new veer to the left with an ineffectual protest.  This response was their only function (other than being paid).

I found this interesting from a few different angles.  First off did I agree with this analysis?  Secondly was I in the same compromised position?  Was I my own enemy?!!!

I’ll address this question first.  I think the answer is no for two reasons. First and most importantly, I haven’t changed my opinions over time to keep up with the changing societal position.  My moral and social point of view hasn’t shifted to the left, over time.  If anything, it has moved to the right.  For that reason, I am safe from the charge of being a right guard of the left wing.  The question of mercenary status is easily answered by my lack of any site monetization.  Check and check.

So back to the first question, do I agree with his evaluation?  I do agree that there are lots of shills.  There seem to be a number of guys doing their act to collect pennies.  This actually doesn’t bother me.  We all have to make a living.  But what is more important is the claim that these guys are just barely staying to the right edge of the leftists and that they maintain this position by constantly shifting leftward over time.  Well, I don’t know.  Some of these guys are not so much moving left as much as they started in the center and seem to be gravitating rightward bit by bit as the Trump train rolls along.  In that case, I guess I give them the benefit of the doubt.  The folks the ZMan seems to be describing are the never-Trumpers.  This includes guys like Jonah Goldberg, Bill Kristol and Kevin Williamson.  These were folks who were willing to embrace Hillary Clinton rather than deal with Donald Trump.  To me that’s the kind of position that precludes being an actual conservative.  At least with Trump you had some chance of saving the country.  But are there any never-Trumpers in the Alt-Lite?  If anyone knows any let me know.  I’d like to look them up and see if the ZMan had this thing right or not.

So conditionally, I’m gonna say that the Alt-Lite ranges from neutral to helpful.  Some of them are moving along to a useful supportive position that reinforces the appeal of the movement to include some of the slow-moving center.  And the worst are just parasites feeding off attention in the wake of the Trump Train.  And even that isn’t such a bad thing from my point of view since I’m even enjoying my piece of that action too.  After all Trump is now the greatest show on earth and what would the circus be without the vendors selling the popcorn, the program notes and souvenirs?

Unbridled Enthusiasm – Trump Seems to be Cheering Up Even the Alt-Right

Terminology differs.  Alt-Right, Dissident Right, Alt-West and a few other designations exist for folks at the angrier edge of the Right-Wing.  These are folks who think it’s essentially too late to try to salvage the United States as presently comprised.  There is an underlying premise that dissolution and re-assembly into more than one fragment is the only and desired outcome.  And this has always dismayed me.  The idea that human beings cannot live under a single government that can even-handedly allow them to co-exist and prosper with the maximum of freedom and prosperity seems odd.  Even if the Alt-Right premises about unequal talents and differing preferences in life style are completely true I still don’t see why the advantages of the American way of life can’t continue to generate freedom and happiness.  But that’s their belief, that it can’t.

But I have noticed lately on a few of the sites that I check a sort of moderating mood or attitude.  It’s as if Trump’s successes are starting to encourage even these folks to think that maybe there is some hope of turning things around.  And maybe I’m just picking up the general glow of happiness that comes from seeing leftist heads explode.  But I believe I detect a hint of optimism for the American Project.

Let me add another qualifier.  I have read opinions on these sites that under the best of circumstances Trump may be able to delay the collapse of America by some short number of years.  And maybe the reaction I’m seeing is just the relaxation attendant on this temporary reprieve.  Sort of like the seventh inning stretch.  Well, either way, it appears a certain upbeat attitude seems to be suffusing the apocalyptic crew on the far right.  And I’m definitely good with that.  I have a happily ever afterward daydream where the country wakes up and corrects the excesses and abuses that Democrats and liberal Supreme Court Justices have inflicted upon us.  In this fantasy the Alt-Right eventually grudgingly accepts that they will have to forego bloody insurrection and just settle for the antagonistic and imperfect multi-ethnic and multi-racial melting pot that is the best-case scenario for human interaction that has ever been stumbled upon.

But daydreams aside, regardless of which scenario we are dealing with, lately I find myself unjustifiably optimistic.  Realistically, the best President Trump can do, even assuming two full terms and Republican majorities in Congress, is begin the job of repairing some of the damage.  And then we have to have a capable new president who can continue the work, one who can work for eight years and cement the changes already made into established policy.  The odds of this are pretty slim.  But compared to where we were under “President Black Lives Matter,” we’re living in Shangri-La.  So, why shouldn’t we feel upbeat?  Why, just this week I saw a headline from the New York Times (which, of course, I didn’t click on) that said that maybe that blue wave in the midterms might not actually occur.  Something about the tax bill actually being popular after all (who’da thunk it?).

So, I’m going to join my brethren on the far right and put aside gloom and doom for at least the time being.  This may render me less intense.  It’s going to be much harder to build up a good head of outrage.  But by the same token I predict my schadenfreude and snark will be that much stronger.  In fact, I definitely feel a “Trump vs …” post incubating as we speak.

So, rejoice my brethren and sistren, the Millennium is upon us (again?) and we will enter the Promised Land humming the opening music from The Apprentice and joyfully carrying aloft our banners adorned with the golden device of the Trumpian Comb-Over as we tread those shining streets of gold (apologies to Saint John the Divine).

What is the Meaning of President Trump?

What does it mean when Donald Trump is elected President?  It means we’re almost done.  When Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania vote Republican something is starting to happen.  Now maybe Trump will relieve some of the anger that’s building up.  He has re-ignited the economy and given people hope.  Maybe that will lower the pressure and allow things to return to a simmer.  But maybe not.  The full court press by the Democrats, The Media, Liberal Federal Judges, Corporate America, Hollywood, Blue State Governors and the Deep State to undo the results of the election is all encompassing.  The cowardly republicans, when they’re not actually working against the interests of their constituents, are almost entirely useless.  Trump has some good instincts and knows how to negotiate with bureaucrats and scoundrels.  But will it be enough?

Trump’s election is akin to the Hail Mary Pass.  America has been bamboozled for the last sixty years.  Our politicians are a combination of the inept, the corrupt and the just plain evil.  We’ve allowed these people to corrupt us and our children and now we’re hoping that a reality TV star and real estate entrepreneur is going to magically set the clock back to 1958.  That’s not going to happen.  To undo what has happened will take years, maybe decades.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m praying for the Hail Mary Pass to succeed.  And who knows?  It could.  But I’m daunted by the sheer number of things that have to go right.  The midterms have to go for the Republicans.  Justice Kennedy has to retire while we hold the Senate.  That idiot Mueller has to go away without causing damage.  The Congress has to wake up and grow a backbone.  Trump has to deport millions of illegal immigrants and build the wall.  Affirmative action has to be eliminated.  Religious liberty and decency need to be defended by a conservative Supreme Court.  The culture and traditions of this country need to be restored to what they were.

I think of Trump as a pressure relief valve.  Things are starting to boil and the pressure is in the danger zone.  Trump can relieve some of that pressure in the short term but if the situation doesn’t improve even that relief won’t be enough.  The whole thing is going to explode.  And that isn’t something I’m hoping for.  I’ve got kids and grandkids.  I’d like them to live in a happy and good place, not a war zone.  But honestly as time goes on I see less and less that reminds me of the country that I grew up in.

So that is how I read the meaning of President Trump.  He is the Hail Mary Pass from the 50-yard line with 1 second left on the clock and four defenders standing in the end zone waiting.  If he wins, I’ll live to see this country return to being a shining city on a hill.  If he fails I expect the alt-right will be proven correct in their premonitions.  We will see the fracture of this country into separate tribes, one against the other.

Where Do We Go from Here? – Part 1

In an earlier post, I defined my position in the spectrum of the political right by saying that I recognized the uselessness of the establishment republicans but was not ready to accept the balkanization of the United States as predicted by the Alt-Right. That’s how I defined it but I didn’t specify what I believed was the actual trajectory America would trace in the near future.  And I didn’t specify it for a very good reason.  I have no idea what will befall us.  By which I mean that unlike some others I think we have several possible paths and I can’t decide if any are close to certainty.  In fact, I can’t even say which I think the likeliest.

Up until Donald Trump’s unexpected end-run around both the GOP Establishment (GOPE) and Hillary Clinton, I was pretty sure that America as a free republic was over and we were headed for the kind of corporatist socialism that Europe has descended into. I anticipated the stripping of first and second amendment rights and the continuing importation of a new third world population to strip the sovereignty from the legitimate citizens of the United States.  Let’s call this the default option for our future.  That’s the trajectory that President Trump is trying to deflect us from.  In my gloomier moments I believe we will continue on this course.

Another possibility is what I call the Hays Code version or “Happily Ever After.” That’s where we come to our senses and start reversing all the damage done since the 1960s.  This requires a Supreme Court to strike down large swaths of the affirmative action legislation of the sixties and seventies (and beyond), and a Congress to reverse the unsustainable immigration policies of the 1960s and an agenda that returns to policies that encourage strong families, safe communities and prosperity.  This is the fondest hope of my sunniest moments.

And then there are the other less peaceful scenarios.

A mild version would be an insurgency in one or more states during a Democratic presidency. Something that is too large to be handled by the FBI or ATF.  Say a revolt based on gun rights being violated by the Supreme Court or Presidential executive order.  Once the events escalated past civilians shooting federal agents and they shooting back it would be very hard to put the pieces back together again.  In a particularly right-wing state like Texas I would guess there would be little popularity with state officials for rounding up their citizens for resisting unconstitutional actions by the feds.  Resistance by the state governments could lead to a breakdown in federal credibility.  And that could lead to a re-examination of how out of whack the government is becoming.  That might cause a change for the better and possibly constructive changes in the way our country works.  Or it could break the whole thing apart.

The Alt-Right vision is of some kind of ethno-nationalist revolt with an insurgency that leads to a division of the country into separate states. This is a possibility but honestly, the outcomes are completely unpredictable.  So many factors, including unfriendly foreign states, rogue military actions with weaponry varying from small arms to nukes, disruption of food and fuel supplies leading to everything from starvation to bloody insurrection and worse.  Can you imagine a Yugoslavia style civil war with multiple sides?  I’m just not smart enough to imagine a scenario in this that I look forward to.

There’s the possibility of a military coup by the right, or the left. The latter never seemed an option before but after Obama has peppered the ranks with leftists it’s a possibility, if a slight one.  The former case is completely possible.  A right wing coup might unilaterally impose secession of all but the Northeast and West Coast.  If this coup managed to monopolize the nuclear armament it would de-facto create a reality that couldn’t be easily resisted.

Here’s a weird one. California has been talking about secession.  But what if the “sanctuary state” in California is interpreted as a rebellion against the Federal government and Congress and the President declare California in rebellion and strips it of voting rights and installs a military governor to restore order.  Can you imagine a Federal program to repatriate all of California’s illegal aliens?  That is almost science fiction.  But how different is it from the Japanese internment camps?

And the possibilities become weirder from there.

Suffice it to say that I am much more comfortable with a more normal path forward. But I fully realize that we must push back against the leftists.  They are confident that no one will push back the clock to undo whatever they have captured today.  This must be changed.  First up is a new Supreme Court to reverse the worst aspects of the new society.  If Kennedy does not find for the cake baker in the gay wedding case then we have to wait until he leaves or one of the older democrats is forced to vacate by reason of health problems.  Or maybe we get enough congressional seats to vote in a larger Supreme Court.  But without a doubt we have to push things back in every way we can.

One thing that has become completely clear is that leftists can’t be negotiated with. They must be defeated at the ballot box and in every other venue.  They won’t be satisfied until they have removed everything in life that is wholesome and good.  They say they don’t believe in evil.  But everything they are fighting for is evil.  That seems clear.  We can’t wait for them to come to their senses.  We must push for the change that is needed to preserve the good that once existed in this country.  And there’s no time to waste.  In late installments I’ll try to figure out how we can avoid everything but the “Happily Ever After” scenario.  Wish me luck!

Ward Cleaver and the Dark Enlightenment

I recently was on a website that contained a list of websites that it called “The Highly Excessive Guide to the Dissident Right.”  The dissident right is another of the names for those on the right who are in some way disillusioned with the GOP establishment (GOPE).  Well, the list is excessive in the sense that it is extremely long and contains a dizzying list of political descriptors. There are Reactionaries, Neoreactionaries, Black Traditionalists, Christian Neoreactionaries, Alt Right, Conservatives, Monarchists, Conservative Evolutionary Psychology, an Arch Druid, Catholic Reactionaries, Human Bio Diversity, Reactionary Conservatives, Classic Reactionaries, Libertarians, Dark Enlightenment Types, Anarcho-Capitalists, Comedy Rednecks, Radical Centrists, Gay Masculine Reactionaries, Jewish Reactionaries, Feminine Reactionaries, Anti-Feminist Females and probably another thirty combinations of these types.

Looking at this list it is pretty plain that unanimity is not a possibility for the dissident right.  So, what provides a point of agreement for most of these groups?

They are attempting to stop the progressive project from eliminating the American Republic as it used to be defined.  Each of these groups probably has a different slant on what things need to be preserved and which should change.  For instance, the Black Traditionalists and the Human Bio Diversity groups probably have some points of agreement and other things that might set them at each other’s throats.  The Gay Masculine Reactionaries and the Catholic Reactionaries would definitely have some doctrinal points of disagreement.  And the Dark Enlightenment Types and the Radical Centrists might not even speak the same language.

I guess it means that the best approach to take is the enemy of my enemy is my ally.  If a voting block emerges that can consistently beat the left then it’ll be time to work out the rules of engagement between the erstwhile allies.  And there is probably room for this sort of horse trading.  Especially since a lot of the differences are theoretical.  I assume if you are an Arch Druid or a Monarchist you have many short-term goals in common with others on the right that can be cooperated on well before you lobby for an American Stonehenge or the re-establishment of the House of Stuart.

This particular site I was visiting had some very long documents describing the tenets of the Dark Enlightenment political philosophy.  I haven’t finished it yet but it seems to start from the viewpoint that the democratic state is antithetical to individual freedom.  And they believe that the Left and the Right are two sides of the same coin that upholds the illusion that people are in charge of the government instead of the inverse.  It’s kind of grim reading but some of it is quite compelling.

Anyway, all this theoretical and fairly depressing prognostication about America’s future is still just that, predictions.  I think that if some of the obvious excesses of the left (affirmative action, reverse discrimination, anti-male policies, anti-normal policies, globalism, excessive immigration, junk environmental science like global warming, attacks on freedom of speech and gun rights and in general, anti-traditionalist and anti-family bias) are eliminated it will go a long way to restoring the environment where America will prosper and its people will be happy.

So, I still hold out hope that the America that our parents believed in is recoverable.  Maybe not complete with Ward, June, Wally and the Beave watching the Mickey Mouse Club but possibly with Ward avoiding mandatory gender re-assignment surgery.
