I think cats are probably the best proof of this way of looking at things. Intelligence does not necessarily or even usually combine with good will. My neighbor’s cat used an abandoned goat shed as a blind to pick off blue jays around my wife’s feeder. Then he stacked them up like cord wood and finally he covered them over somehow with a muck bucket that was nearby. He was like some kind of Bond villain of the feline world.
Those cats look happy.

Yeah, they have it made, won the lottery. All the shelter, food and affection they could ever want.
