I remember reading a treatise some time ago maintaining that a principle mark of a mature, successful democratic republic was the peaceful transition of power. Probably so but that aspect of our society has taken and is still taking a large hit in that respect. Reality is that the party in power energized the surveillance power of the state to sabotage the election of the presidential candidate from the opposing party and, when that failed, attempted a soft coup. How exactly Trump goes forward with this is the $64,000 question. Does he wait for the mid-terms or not? Does he chase this all the way back to Obama or just fire the whole Justice Department?
That is my sincerest hope. Vindictiveness and spite could do more for this country right now than all the brotherly love that the Bushes have stored up.

I somehow suspect that Trump has a vindictive streak.
