I couldn’t stand retirement after I left the Army. I’d found that retirement consists primarily of boredom. So I joined the SC State Guard Disaster Responders and went back to fighting floods and hurricanes like I did 50 yrs ago! The old war horse still hears the bugle call to CHARGE!

Whatever disagreements I have with Teddy Roosevelt I fully admit that as a fellow kid from NYC he went the extra mile to live a vigorous life. He had some admirable traits.
