What lens best represents the angle of view of human sight? Turns out it’s kind of complicated. Watch.
The human eye is hard to equate to a single focal length lens. My peripheral vision is around 160 degrees which would be around 10mm but it’s not exactly all in focus as a photo would be. I think the eye image more like a stacked composite with each outer band getting less in focus.
The eye doesn’t need focus for peripheral vision, peripheral is all about motion, color and focus don’t matter, it’s about detecting a predator sneaking up.
That’s a little hard to encode in glass and metal.
