Had an un-forecast frost here in Charleston this morning. A lot of gardeners may be unhappy. Could be more snow up in the Northern Counties. .I’m waiting for all the migratory birds to file a class-action lawsuit for Intent to Deceive!
Freezing weather is not a problem here. What’s killing me is 3-6 inches of snow directly followed by an inch of rain! My upper driveway is a skating rink. I spent six hours yesterday scratching up the ice with my boot spikes and spreading sand on the surface of about 2 inches of ice. It works but it’s very tedious and wearying. And this is the third such event in the last two weeks.
That’s what caused so much trouble down here last month. It started as snow, about 2 inches, then it turned to two more inches of sleet and freezing rain. Carolina drivers simply DO NOT understand how to handle iced pavement!

I don’t envy driving on that without an army of salting and sanding plows.
You mean you’re already into spring growing season?
