Sorry, just couldn’t resist, a personal failing, really,
Lots of stuff happening here, focus good, DOF good. Must not have used a macro, or at least at close range. Exif info shows 90mm macro lens. You must have cropped in.
Tom, that’s cropped in. I walk around looking for anything that catches my eye and then take a few different angles and distances. In post I try to make it look interesting. Of course results may differ from expectations.
Shooting long and cropping is about the only way to get DOF out of a macro lens. But it’s effective.
The focus stackers have their own method but it’s pretty iffy in the wind or with living things. I sometimes use it with dead bugs. But it is a lot of work.
