I live smack dead center of the worst hit area.I wasn’t here in 2004 & 2005 for Cat 5 Ivan or Cat 4 Dennis but the locals tell me the damage from this one was worse. I was without power, water, and communications of any description. And with the roads totally blocked by fallen trees in every direction, I couldn’t leave.
I lucked out because of the nearness of a school and got power back yesterday evening ahead of 95% on the customers of my local EMC. I just got a cell phone connection.
Friday night was as frightening as anything I’ve experienced. I live alone deep in the woods, and in the dead dark, the howling, screaming, crashing, banging 130 mph long duration gusts with no phone or internet was bad.
Good thing I have a chain saw. It took me most of Saturday to clear my 600′ long drive of the multiples of trees and 1′ deep debris. I’ve got access around the house now. I’ve carried around 25 10′ trailer loads to the road and need to do at least that again but I’ve destroyed my 78 year old back. My parking structure is destroyed & a large tree leaning against the house. I can’t deal with the tree on my own.

Hurricane Isaias caused a lot of havoc. I’ve heard that the Pensacola area got hit very hard. Here’s hoping everyone down there gets through this alright.
