FISA Law Coming up for Renewal

“FISA Section 702 allows intelligence agencies, mainly the NSA and FBI, to surveil foreigners without a warrant. This extrajudicial power inevitably sweeps in vast troves of information on American citizens in the dragnet that can then be tapped by federal authorities, despite a warrant never being served. The FBI alone engaged in over 200,000 of these “backdoor searches” in 2022, including on political activists. Additionally, government authorities also obtain information on citizens through data brokers, because of a legal loophole in how the Fourth Amendment is implemented.

In December, a temporary extension of Section 702 was inserted into the National Defense Authorization Act, but it is set to expire in April.”

There is enormous pressure on Congress to re-authorize this law.  And if it were allowed to sunset, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the FBI arranged for a terrorist attack to occur on American soil just to blame it on the Republicans for trying to stop the intelligence agencies from spying on us.

So, I can see how Mike Johnson would be on the spot when it comes to a reauthorization.  But I’m very interested to see which way this goes.  From my point of view, I see more benefit from letting the law die and taking the hit politically if the FBI allows an attack.  But I’m an extremist at this point and don’t have to stand for re-election.

But think about it; 200,000 searches in a single year.  These people spy on us relentlessly.  Taking away this tool would do a great deal to reduce their power against us.

Tell me in the comments what you think should be done and what you think will actually happen.

Well, Maybe

I get an e-mail whenever Curtis Yarvin writes a post in his Substack; Gray Mirror.  Now Yarvin is a lunatic but an engaging and clever lunatic.  His answer to all of the ills of our society is always the same; install a king.  So, I’m always a little daunted when I consider reading his posts, not least of all because they are usually between five and ten thousand words long.  Yikes!  Luckily this one was on the low end of that range.

It was a gentle chiding of Richard Hanania for becoming a moderate.  I guess Hanania was being attacked in the media for being an alt-right partisan in his younger days.  Well, who wasn’t?  Anyway, after a few thousand words to ridicule the concept of classical liberalism Yarvin gets down to his bottom line.  Any and all progress against the woke left is hopeless because the oligarchy protects it and the only way to get rid of the oligarchy is with a king.

Well, maybe.

So, because our representative democracy has been hijacked by an oligarchy, according to him we should welcome a dictator.  And you wonder, how did that work out for the Romans?  Julius Caesar and Augustus were pretty good.  But after that, what a nightmare.  How do you keep the king from being a madman or an incompetent?  Yarvin has this idea that it would be like some kind of CEO for the country and there would be a board of directors who could hire and fire the king.

Well, maybe

But I’m guessing that stuffing that board would be like stuffing the Supreme Court.  And truth be told the board would be the oligarchs and they would just choose one of their oligarchi-est oligarchs to run their show.  And how in hell do you get something like this started?  No, there is no way out that way.

What seems to be the case is that we are heading for a crisis.  The old system and the way that it works is reaching a breaking point.  Those in charge seem to have a plan to permanently make the voting system just a rubber stamp for their regime.  And at the same time, they want to change the class system in this country from a middle-class dominant model to a feudal system with the peasants working for the oligarchs.  And to be totally honest it sure looks like they’re way ahead getting their plan done.  A big chunk of the millennials and zoomers have serf written all over them.

Well, maybe.

But the best laid plans of oligarchs and serfs oft time go to hell in the real world.  I still think it’s too soon to just throw in the towel.  The demolition of the American economy is preceding at such a breakneck pace that it is somewhat possible that a popular revolt might miraculously sweep the Democrats completely out of power long enough to allow actual representatives of the people to make drastic reforms and restore our interests.

Well, maybe.

After reading about the FBI gunning down that old guy in Provo, Utah I’m not feeling so chipper today.  I know the radical nature of the killing should help to delegitimize the institutions like the FBI.  And it probably does.  The man as described was obviously no threat to anyone.

“Neighbors who spoke with the Deseret News described Robertson as a markedly different person than what he portrayed online. One person called him a “teddy bear” known for his woodworking who would sit in the same seat at church every Sunday; another said he was barely mobile, weighed nearly 300 pounds and was unable to walk without a cane. He would drive to church, despite it only being about 200 yards from his home, because he had so much trouble moving around.

Neighbors also described a harrowing scene, with dozens of agents converging on the Provo house, rifles drawn and hiding behind bulletproof shields as flash bangs exploded.

“I just can’t believe that this man warranted that kind of response,” said Travis Clark, who lived up the street from Robertson.”

It makes me sick to think that the FBI has become a secret police agency, no different from the Stasi and the KGB.  In fact, worse than those organizations.  At least the KGB wouldn’t have allowed BLM and Antifa to burn down their own cities.  But maybe it will be this kind of gestapo tactics that convinces a solid majority of the American people that our “leaders” are really our overlords now and need to be replaced with something better.

Maybe, maybe not.

Tough day to be optimistic.

FISA Reauthorization – The Real Test of the House

Want to know whether Republicans have any legitimacy as a conservative entity?  The FISA  program expires on December 31, 2023.  Just wait to see if they reauthorize it or not.  The FBI has been documented by the Inspector General for the Justice Department to have abused this program systematically.

“On April 27, Inspector General Michael Horowitz gave a statement before the committee that stressed the need for “transparency and oversight” to avoid or mitigate the repetition of “mistakes, errors, and abuses.” Horowitz explained that factual accuracy when showing probable cause was a pervasive problem among bureau agents before 2021.”

The abuses of the FISA court during the Russia-gate actions proved that partisan elements in the FBI and the Justice Department routinely abused the FISA process at will.

Why would the Republican House renew it?  The only reason possible would be cowardice.  They fear that if they allow it to lapse the Deep State will allow a foreign government to launch an attack on the US homeland and then blame the Congress for the attack.  But if that’s the case then nothing will ever get fixed in our system and the intelligence agencies will have free rein to spy on us and persecute anyone that speaks against them.  From my point of view, this reauthorization deadline is the acid test of whether there is any hope of ever reining these people in.

Put it on your calendar and on January 1st see whether our conservative warriors stood their ground or caved in.  I’m dying to know.  And if they fail it just confirms what all of the “conspiracy theorists” have been saying all along, that the FBI controls the Congress and not vice versa.

Mark the date.

Garland Appoints Special Counsel to Take Down Trump

Everyone has been waiting for this moment.  The Biden administration has activated the plan to stop Donald Trump from running in 2024.  They’ve selected a hatchet man to put together a rigged investigation.  Then comes the Washington DC located kangaroo court and jury to convict him.  That should teach anyone who still has any doubts about whether justice still exists in these United States.  Should be interesting to see what comes of the investigation into Hunter Biden.  Probably nothing.  After all, it’s the DOJ that prosecutes people not the Congress.

Thoughts on Our New Status as a Banana Republic

Tomorrow and Wednesday I’m on the road.  So, posting will be iffy.  Of course, now that Brandon is unleashing the Stasi and the IRS to round up all of us Yellow Star folks maybe I’ll be stopped at the state border and forced into a cattle car.  I hope there will be lots of straw in the cattle car.  That stuff keeps the smell down in cattle cars, I hear.

Seriously, I feel the Left and their allies in the Deep State have crossed the Rubicon.  At this point I don’t think they’ll hesitate to come after all their enemies and punish them with every trick in the book.  I expect really bad stuff to begin happening to just about anyone they can identify as “not their friend.”

You know I expected this type of thing to happen but I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it does.  It really is a complete break with the America that I believed in as a young man.  This is no different from the East Germany that we read about back in the 1970s.  It’s right in line with the things I read in Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago.  There’s the bang on the door at night and jack-booted thugs carrying off someone into the dark.  Secret courts and show trials and rat-like characters like Merrick Garland and Joe Biden.

And of course, we will be powerless to hold any of these people responsible.  Just as with the Summer of George rioting and the election fraud in 2020 those responsible won’t suffer any consequences.  Whereas innocent people will have their lives ruined and be imprisoned and robbed of their livelihood by these rats.

Joe Biden and his drug-addled son Hunter shake down China and Ukraine for millions and there are no consequences even when the moron leaves evidence of his crimes out in the open.  The FBI and the media are his fixers and they’ll make sure that nothing interrupts the graft and corruption.  But at this point only the brain dead are unaware of the depths of Biden’s dishonesty and incompetence.

November truly will be the acid test.  If the Democrats aren’t swept out of power in a tidal wave, then there is literally no hope for this once free country.  If the Democrats aren’t banished then either the American people are already brain dead or the election fraud is so thorough that we’ll never see a fair election again.  And even if the Republicans take back the House and Senate, Biden’s re-animated corpse will still be torturing our country for two more years.  With tens of thousands of new IRS employees Biden will use the death by a thousand paper cuts on his enemies’ supporters.

Well, enough whining.  It’s only a few months until November and I’m sure I can keep busy working and playing until then.  And as the Good Book says “The truth shall set you free.”  It’s better to have the bad news than to be confused by the lies.  If the bad guys have won it’s best to know.  Then you can make the decisions you need to in order to figure out Plan B.

FBI Batting a 1000 on Manufactured Threats, Batting 0 on Real Terrorist Attacks

Sharyl Attkisson details the litany of Muslim extremists that the FBI knew of but failed to stop from mass murdering Americans.  Then she speaks to a Congressional investigator who shows that the culture rewards manufacturing cases against right-wing targets but ignores actual Muslim, Antifa and BLM attackers.

Maybe someday a president will fire every FBI manager from top to bottom for incompetence and malfeasance.  Just a thought.

I’m Not the Only One Who Thinks the FBI Must Go

Here’s another liberal who agrees with the Right that the FBI is a fascist outfit that does more harm than good.

“The FBI has always had a policy requiring that all consequential interviews be conducted by two agents — one to ask questions, the other to take notes. Then the agents return to headquarters, where the notes are typed up. The report is known as a Form 302, and it is the official record of the interview.

The interviewees are thus placed between the proverbial rock and a hard place. If they testify, they must stick to the FBI’s version. If they deviate from the Form 302, they can be charged with having lied to the agent or, at trial, of committing perjury. Hence, there is enormous pressure on witnesses to testify not as they remember a situation, but rather in accord with the Form 302.

As a result, I’ve developed a policy of never allowing a client to be interviewed without my recording it. The agents would tell me that I’m not allowed to record the interview. I replied that I have my own policy. The agents then would leave.”

Based on what I’ve read if I ever had the FBI knock on my door I’d tell them I have nothing to say.  After watching what they’ve done to people like General Flynn I have no respect or trust in these Gestapo agents at all.

Practically Speaking, How Would a President Dismantle the FBI?

After what we’ve seen happening over the last two decades in the intelligence agencies there’s no doubt in my mind that they need to be fundamentally altered.  And I don’t think the word dismantle is an exaggeration of what needs to be done.  It could be argued that there are functions that the FBI is uniquely suited to perform that need to be done.  But I look at those functions as the exceptions.

I imagine that someone tasked with this dismantling would form a new “group within the bureau and reassign all the personnel and infrastructure critical for these useful functions to this new group.  Once that is done, he could begin dismantling the rest of the agency without too much fear of meaningful disruption.

Fire all of the top echelon of management.  Assign trusted personnel to take over and begin removing any functionality that has been abused in the past.  Using internal rules block the access to FISA courts from anyone who isn’t appointed by the new management.  Begin surveilling the use of federal resources by the FBI personnel to find anyone who is running counter-intelligence operations against the new management and the President.  And continue to prune back the agency from the top down.

Look for hidden caches of information on powerful people and figure out what this has been used in the past to blackmail them into doing.  Figure out how this information is best disposed of.  In some cases, where real crime has occurred, exposing the information may make sense.  In other cases, confronting the victim and forcing changes in the status quo may be possible.

And once power has been wrested from the FBI and other intelligence agencies then the laws that have allowed them to terrorize this nation need to be changed to prevent these abuses from recurring.  The obvious one is the Patriot Act.  The Supreme Court knows it is unconstitutional but during the supposed “War on Terror” it allowed the law to stand in order to allow unrestrained pursuit of Islamic terrorists hiding in the United States.  I think we’ve learned that the law was meant to be used against all of us.

And other laws need to be changed.  The definition of civil rights needs to be rationally defined to prevent the kind of outrageous overreach that was on display in the federal government’s interference in the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown cases.  And we can’t allow actual domestic terrorists like Antifa and BLM and their confederates in the blue city governments to perpetrate outrages like the George Floyd riots against American citizens.

And who would be the right person for a Republican president to appoint Attorney General?  I’m guessing it will require someone who has worked for the Justice Department.  Maybe someone like Rudy Giuliani.  He’s getting kind of old but he still might be the right guy.  But whoever it is he can’t be like William Barr who just tiptoes around the edges of the FBI and lets the swamp creatures run the show.  It has to be someone who is willing to perform radical surgery with a chain saw.  Because that is exactly what is needed.

So, will this ever happen?  If we ever want to get our country back it’s a necessity.  But it’s going to take brains and guts.  Where will we find those?

Defund the FBI

In the endless George Floyd rolling riot of 2020 and the subsequent permanent urban crime wave that now occupies all the blue cities, no one has been arrested except for people who tried to defend themselves from the mayhem.  Whether it was police officers trying to stop crime or homeowners brandishing weapons to stop rioters from invading their homes or a kid with a rifle trying to keep a mob from burning down a local business it was those trying to defend themselves from government sanctioned race rioting who were singled out for prosecution.  The local Democrats and the Justice Department conspired to encourage the destruction of these cities as a terror tactic to show white people that they were a hated class that could be attacked with impunity.  And the selective prosecution of anyone trying to stop the rampage was to prove that resistance was futile.

With the trial this week of Kyle Rittenhouse we’ll get to see just how depraved our criminal justice system has become.  All accounts of the trial describe a prosecution in disarray.  The video footage and even the testimony of one of the “victims” corroborates the defense contention that Rittenhouse was defending himself against attacks from the rioters he shot.  This week we were told by BLM activists that the jurors are being videotaped so that they can be targeted if they don’t find Rittenhouse guilty.

So where does this go?  I assume the verdict is a 50/50 proposition.  Even with a terrible case the jurors have enormous pressure on them to find him guilty.  But even if Rittenhouse is absolved on all charges, I assume that the Justice Department will immediately arrest him and charge him on trumped up weapons and civil rights charges.  And that is the point of this article.  Since the days of the Obama Justice Department, the FBI has been weaponized to allow the black underclass to commit crimes against white and even Hispanic citizens with impunity.  Treyvon Martin, Michael Brown, George Floyd and the rest of the litany of black criminals who were shot because they were committing violent crimes are the examples of this policy.  This is a clearly delineated plan to demoralize and essentially terrorize the law-abiding population of the country into submission.  They want us to surrender and surrender up whatever is asked of us in the hope that our lives will be spared.  It is a fiendish plan and it is working.

So, it is apparent what needs to be done.  The FBI has to be defanged.  And the best start to something like that is a two-pronged approach.  First, appoint an Attorney General who is not part of the old boys’ club in Washington.  It will be his job to start demolishing the senior leadership of the FBI.  Fire every single one of the cabal leaders who ran the takedown job against Donald Trump’s administration.  Then fire everyone who reported to those guys.  Then fire everyone who reported to those guys.  You get the picture.  Second, cut the budget of the FBI by about two thirds.  Take away all their toys, the armored assault vehicles and the combat weapons.  They are not the Navy Seals.

As a separate effort I think it’s time to cancel the Patriot Act.  It may have been well intentioned by some of the congressional leaders who originally drafted it but it has proven to be a license to treat American citizens as if they lived in a banana republic without any rights.  We cannot allow the government to spy on Americans as if this were East Germany.

Of course, none of this happens until a real President is in office again.  But even then, there has to be the will to do it.  With the recent string of debacles by Biden and the terrible state of the economy it’s quite possible that the Republicans will have the edge in 2024.  But it is absolutely imperative that ending the FBI’s reign of terror is a first priority in any Republican administration going forward.  If not, we can look forward to burning cities and mob violence from now on.
