Will We Get a Gorbachev?

The Soviet Union was an abomination.  It tortured and killed its most loyal citizens on an industrial scale that had never before been seen.  And then it exported the formula abroad to places like China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba and Venezuela.  Up until recently the legal apparatus in the United States specifically forbade the techniques and tactics that the Soviets used.  But with the passing of the Patriot Act and the weaponization of the Judiciary we have the ingredients needed to institute the purges that Stalin perfected in the 1930s and unleashed on his people to such devastating effect during his long and nightmarish reign.

As an example, look at the techniques used by the FBI and the Justice Department in conjunction with federal judges like the vicious thug Emmet Sullivan who persecuted General Michael Flynn even after the Justice Department admitted that they had no case against him and dropped the prosecution.  Or look at the recent imprisonment of the harmless protestors who were involved in the January 6th “riot.”  Here is the federal justice system imprisoning without bail harmless Americans who are much less dangerous than all of the Antifa and BLM criminals who are still rioting and destroying federal property in Portland, Oregon with impunity.

The Soviet Union finally reached a point after seventy years of torturing its citizens that it could not continue.  Decades of terror and insanity had finally killed off all belief in the system among the populace and this was terminal for the vitality of the state.  After all, once even the stupidest of the people know it’s all a sham, they stop caring about anything but getting through the day.  It finally reaches the point where life is characterized by the saying, “They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.”  When a dispirited population that is barely kept alive on the meager output of their own slave labor is the basis for a supposed world power it doesn’t take forever before the whole thing just falls apart of its own accord.  The upkeep of nuclear weapons and the fighting of foreign wars requires dedication and  morale.  Terrorized slaves lack those qualities.

The United States and the Soviet Union are very different places.  And even granting that the power of the federal government augmented by its alliance with the tech companies like Google and Facebook is a frighteningly powerful force to wield against private citizens and even state officials.  But I still believe there will be a reaction to this attempt to subjugate the free people of this country by the thugs who are attempting to use the Stalinist playbook against us.  Americans are not Russian serfs.  They have a history of being free.

I have no proof that there exists a base of people in one of the red states that will stand up against these thugs.  But I think it will happen.  And if it happens at all it will inspire a groundswell of the same resistance in a thousand places.  And that will put an end to these creatures.  Because if the American people ever get their freedom back again, they’ll take steps to put an end to the laws and individuals that have allowed this tyranny to exist.  They’ll cancel the Patriot Act.  They’ll shut down the FBI and start from scratch.  They’ll put every one of the FBI and CIA and media hacks who lied and persecuted innocent men during the whole Russiagate witch hunt on trial.  Comey and Brennan and the rest of the Obama cronies will be thrown into prison and left to rot.  And then we should empty the federal judicial bench all the way up to the Supreme Court and replace them with citizens who have worked for a living and even if they’ve never been inside a courtroom, they would be better judges of their fellow citizens than all these ivy league intellectuals who let us suffer under the current regime.

For me the only question is who will light the match?  Will we have to wait until our country is falling apart at the seams before we get our Gorbachev?  I hope not.

Will Durham Do Anything?

Less than a month left for Durham to take action on Russiagate before the 60-day election cutoff.  Apparently, there is a rule against an administration interfering in an election (the October surprise strategy) within that period so if Durham doesn’t want to run the risk of sending his report to President Biden, he will have to do it before Labor Day.  Here’s a link to an article that basically says he will release his report and includes a supposed expert opinion that says he’ll hand down indictments.

Well, I gave up on all this months ago but I will admit I’m curious to see what happens between now and Labor Day.  Even my short attention span can concentrate for that long.  But I’d be lying if I said my expectations are very high for something explosive.  I’m expecting a sort of dressing down by the teacher and a slap on the wrist for being sloppy and over eager and maybe someone loses his law license.

If anyone thinks differently, I’d love to hear an opinion and the basis for it.  Because this whole cabal is surely one of the most damning pieces of evidence to prove that the Deep State really does run things behind the scenes and can’t be touched.

Is It Possible the Flynn Persecution is Finally Over?

The Appeals Court ruled by a two to one vote to order U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to stop torturing General Flynn and dismiss the case.  Of course I’m waiting for Sullivan to appeal to a higher court or just to defy the order.  We’ll have to wait to see if this is the end but it’s surely a step in the right direction.

This may be a good test for what kind of judicial and bureaucratic disobedience we’ll see in the future.  With the Supreme Court defying the Constitution at every turn and the Deep State in open revolt I won’t be surprised by any illegal actions taken by our enemies.  But it certainly will open a lot of eyes that have been sleepwalking for years.

Judge Emmet Sullivan Just Got Busted by the Court of Appeals

The Clown Prince of Injustice Judge Emmet Sullivan just got served with an order from the DC Court of Appeals to show why he hasn’t honored the Federal Government’s petition to vacate the prosecution of General Flynn.

DC Circuit Panel Orders Judge Sullivan To Respond Within 10 Days…

By some wonderful miracle two of the three judges on the panel are Republican appointees and it looks like old Emmet is headed for a spanking.  The order says he has to explain himself by June 1st.  Well ten days is a long time but I guess the General has been waiting three years already so it won’t be much of a stretch.

The Merry-Go-Round Spins On

One thing that eventually gets drummed into you by sad experience is that there’s no such thing as happily ever after.  And that’s because no matter how well things are going, whenever chance conspires against us there are those who will capitalize on the opportunity and confuse the weak minded and tempt the weak willed to drag the country through more hell.  And the only things that will get you through the crisis are steady nerves, dogged determination and enough brains to think your way out of the trap.

I would characterize our present situation as exactly that.  The election and the COVID-19 epidemic are a perfect storm that will require remarkable skills to navigate successfully.  Add to this the investigations into Flynn and the other Russia-gate abuses and you have a high stakes pressure cooker, the outcome of which, absolutely no one can predict.  Look at all the possible consequences of these actions.  With respect to the investigations under Barr the outcomes range from zero to infinity.  At the zero end Durham decides that although laws were broken, the actions were in good faith and the only corrective actions should be stepped up internal oversight of sensitive operations.  At infinity we have prison terms for everyone from Lisa Page to Barack Obama.  That’s quite a range of outcomes.  Then look at the election.  So many lives have been disrupted by this emergency that trying to compensate everyone for the harm done by the shutdown is well-nigh impossible.  But the President has to make a good faith effort to do just that.  He must convince these people that his administration is the best hope for restoring the devastated middle class and that the Democrats will use this catastrophe to establish the welfare state they’ve always wanted.  And I think he will do just that and get re-elected handily.

But here is the point of this whole post.  Even if President Trump is able to achieve all the objectives on his plate.  If he gains the confidence of the voting public and gains re-election, if he restores the economy to growth and saves the small businessmen, if Barr uncovers the smoking gun and sends the Coup to prison for a couple of decades, if the Republicans capture the House, hold the Senate and add one more solid conservative vote to the Supreme Court, if the Justice Department sues the Tech Giants into restoring free speech to the Right, if all these things happen we are still exactly one disaster away from losing everything to the Left.

What we have to remember is that we’re always fighting a defensive war.  The Left has already won all the battles in the culture and we’re just curled up in a defensive crouch waiting for the next blow to fall.  The only way we will ever change the balance of power is to go on the offense and attack something of theirs.  What it will require is coordination between the Federal and State governments to pick a target and inflict a defeat on the Left that will be so unpleasant that it will elicit an overreaction that will provide the opportunity for a reinforcing defeat.  Now what this target will be is open for debate.  My thought is it should be in a deep red state that has a blue city located in it.  It could be a sanctuary city and the target could be illegal alien employment by big businesses.  A partnership between ICE and the state government could arrange for a mass arrest of illegal aliens at a large company and the Federal government could use the evidence to punish the corporation so ruthlessly that the rest of the companies panic and get their houses in order.  Once the jobs disappear the Federal government steps in and comes up with some moderate and humane way to get the illegals to go home to their lands.

Once the operation against illegal aliens in the workplace begins all the Blue States will erupt into rage and all kinds of protests will occur.  If some jurisdiction in one of the Blue States overreacts and gives the Federal government an excuse to punish them that will be the second defeat that I see as reinforcing the Left’s despair.

But it doesn’t have to be immigration.  Suppose Texas legislates against gay marriage and the Supreme Court upholds it.  Think of the insanity that would break out.  All the Blue States would then vote to unrecognize the normal marriages of citizens in Texas.  They would break off all economic trade with Texas and do any number of other stupid things for which they would suffer.  And once the Supreme Court fails to find a constitutional right for gay marriage then almost immediately about twenty states will make laws against it too.  And that would be wonderful.  We would have a de facto division of the United States into two zones.  We could call them the Normal States and Queer States.  And that would be just the start.  Abortion laws, obscenity laws, sodomy laws and other social issues would be fodder for further differences between the two camps.  And the beauty of it is no one in the Blue States is being forced to do anything they don’t want to.  The upshot should be to make the Blue States bluer and the Red States redder.  Now that’s diversity even I can stand behind.

Hey, Could Bill Barr Really be Going After These Rats?

You know there’s nothing more comforting for someone who’s been burned before than the cynical pose.  You can sit back and make fun of all the suckers and mugs who really believe that the game isn’t fixed.  Well, as I declared just a week ago or so I don’t think Bill Barr intends to prosecute any of the Deep State Cabalists that attacked the Trump presidency, not even the low-level losers like Strzok and Page.  So much time has gone by that I concluded he was just marking time and running out the clock in order to appear to be investigating the offense but really just protecting the status quo.

But it’s a funny thing.  The small progress that has resulted in the charges against General Flynn being tossed out of court has stirred up a hornet’s nest of outrage from all corner of the Swamp.  Even the capo di tutti capi of the Swamp, Barry Obama resurfaced to complain that freeing an innocent man was an unheard-of innovation that never could have happened in his day.  And his minions rallied more than 2,000 of the swamp creatures to sign off on a letter condemning Barr for daring to recognize an illegal FBI prosecution of Flynn and urging the judge to refuse to dismiss the case.  And the media has been flooded with articles about the flurry of activity by the Justice Department:

  • Declassified Evidence Undercuts Clapper’s Testimony to Congress
  • Durham Moving “Full-Throttle”
  • Trump Implies Obama Link on Flynn, Labels Controversy “Obamagate”
  • Ex-DOJ, FBI Officials Call on Barr to Resign for Dropping Flynn Charges
  • Clinton Camp Knew About Plan to Have Steele Brief Media on Dossier
  • Search for Answers in FBI’s Mishandling of Flynn Case
  • 13 Unanswered Questions About Dismissal of Flynn Case
  • Why Did Obama Tell the FBI to Hide Its Activities?

Could I be wrong about Barr?  Is there still hope he’ll get something done?  I’ll have to admit that the prospect of seeing the Cabal languishing in some super-max prison is so exciting that it almost makes me faint but I fear disappointment so much that I would do anything rather than go off that cliff again.  Let’s look over the prospects.  It’s possible that Barr will allow for the investigation to free the wrongly accused and even expose the Obama minions who persecuted them to censure in a report that details the false prosecutions.  He could do that without actually indicting a single soul.  This would be a kind of “trial in the papers” exercise.  And if done during the election cycle it could have a good effect on President Trump’s numbers.  That’s sort of what I was saying last week.  This is the weakest of the positive outcomes Barr could be working toward.

The next higher outcome is the scapegoat.  That is where DOJ latches onto a stooge like Strzok and blames the whole mess on him.  He’s painted as a rogue agent who exceeded his authority and in an excess of zeal committed crimes that no one else recognized.  And Strzok will be allowed to cop a plea where he’ll get a slap on the wrist and the whole thing will be buried in some bureaucratic teachable moment exercise.  This is also a not unlikely outcome.  Strzok probably won’t even lose his pension and he can write a book about what a hero he was for zealously guarding the country against Russians.

Beyond this are the really unlikely outcomes.  Even the lesser cases involve the indictment of characters like McCabe, Comey, Clapper and Brennan.  These men all lied under oath.  There are documents attesting to their complicity in illegal activities.  Dragging all of this out in public would reveal to the public a partisan and disloyal intelligence community working against a duly elected President of the United States and routinely using tactics that would seem more at home in the soviet KGB.  This exercise would have the maximum effect on the public and would reinforce the opinion that the Democrats, the Deep State and the Media conspired to lie to the American public about the whole Russia-gate scam.  Potentially such an investigation and the indictments could go up as high as Obama.  There is no limit to just how much dirt could be unearthed if rats like Comey think they might be going to prison and needed to turn state’s evidence.

And this latter outcome is the one I find so unlikely at this point.  The damage to the FBI and the CIA would be massive.  After they see how corrupt these agencies are the public may be willing to see them weakened or even eliminated.  But somebody like Barr is almost a father figure to the Department of Justice.  Helping to chloroform the FBI might seem like murdering his own kids.  And for that reason, I don’t think he’ll ever unleash a full investigation that puts the blame where it really belongs, at the top.  At best he’ll target Strzok or possibly McCabe.  But no higher.

Let’s assume I’m right.  But if Barr really does decide to expose the crooked prosecution of President Trump’s men it will still be enough justification for a far-reaching purge of the Justice Department and the other intelligence agencies and that will be a very useful change for the next four years.

So where does this leave me?  Well, really back where we started from.  I still don’t know that Barr is going to do much of anything.  Could all the noise we’re hearing just be a bunch of nothing?  Yes.  For all I know this is just the smokescreen that is supposed to convince us that something will happen.  I still think that’s the likeliest outcome.

But I do have to admit that Barr’s lieutenants have unearthed a lot of evidence to show that all of the usual suspects did an awful lot of lying around the time of the incoming administration.  That alone is a valuable result.  It shows that the Russia-gate scam was just that and the Cabal knew it all along.  Surely that makes Barr a little more useful than I gave him credit for last week.  Bill Barr, I guess I underestimated you at least a little bit.  We’ll soon see just how much.

What’s the Lesson from General Flynn’s Case?

The information that has been released from the FBI files on the Flynn case and the House Investigation of the Russia probe is surprisingly clear.  When subjected to the light of day there is no way to disguise the fact that federal law enforcement personnel at the highest levels deliberately conspired to railroad President Trump’s National Security Advisor out of office and into a criminal conviction.

There was no legal justification for this but they figured out a way to blackmail Flynn into it.  And they did it because they figured once they had stripped Flynn away from the new President, they could use the Russia hoax to get a special prosecutor appointed and use that office to attack the new administration in concert with the press and the deep state.  If that isn’t treason, I don’t know what is.

Contemplating that the Justice Department of the United States felt no hesitation to commit these acts during the commencement of a new Presidential Administration surely should give any American pause when considering whether his own constitutional rights are secure in the United States.  Other than unimportance what makes me think that the FBI would hesitate for a millisecond before dragging me down to one of their interrogation rooms and providing me with an even less favorable choice than the one they gave General Flynn.  Imagine that an unaccountable government goon tells you that either you will plead guilty to a crime you didn’t commit, that could earn you ten years in prison or your son will be prosecuted and imprisoned for an even longer period.

In the last twenty years we have grown accustomed to the diminution of our freedoms in the name of greater security.  In an alleged effort to keep Islamic terrorists from blowing up our planes every old grandmother in a wheelchair is subjected to indignities and all of us have to submit to complete surveillance of our every financial transaction and personal communication of all kinds.  Of course, that hasn’t stopped obvious foreign terrorists from striking at every level of American life.  And when it happens, we have to listen to harangues explaining how it’s our bigotry that inspired the violence.  But we acceded to the indignities and accepted the surveillance.

But now we find that the security apparatus is our new master.  All pretense that we are free men has been ended.  The FBI has the means to incriminate us using these new extra-constitutional powers.  And worse, they have the will to do it too.  Well, I’m sorry.  I no longer care whether the FBI is protecting me from Islamic terrorists or roving bands of cannibals.  I want them gone.  I want the President’s highest priority to be firing every last idiot with the letters FBI emblazoned across his stupid windbreaker.  I don’t even care if the Russians, the Chinese and the North Koreans steal the gasoline out of my gas tank and the chimney off my house.  At least they won’t be able to haul me off to the gulag for failing to genuflect to Comrade Obama and his dictatorial thugs.

The FBI from its beginnings has spied on the American people.  It has spied on our leaders and it has used this spying to blackmail and coerce the government into doing its bidding.  That is too dangerous a tool for our country to possess.  It seems to me that the Justice Department already has plenty of employees.  It needs to be dismantled.  It needs its fangs pulled.

That is a tall order.  It’s doubly so because the Attorney General, Bill Barr wouldn’t dream of extracting the jewel in the crown of his department.  I’m not even sure he’ll clean out the viper’s nest that is responsible for the outrage they perpetrated against this country.  If Barr and Durham had any sense of proportion, they would know that their precious FBI is a worse curse than the COVID-19 epidemic or the September 11th Attack.  What he should do is have a press conference where he apologizes to the American people for the organized crime cartel that he’s perpetrating on the rest of us.  He should fire everyone in the bureau from the top down until he finds someone who’s willing to expose the plot that we’ve lived through for the last four years.  That’s what he should do.  And then the President should demand Congress draft legislation to revoke the Patriot Act.  And if they won’t he should have his Solicitor General petition the Supreme Court to find it unconstitutional.  If the Congress squawks about that tell them to work on a constitutional amendment.  That should keep them busy for about twenty years.

Anyway, this rant is to say that it’s clear we now live in a police state.  It’s run by the FBI with additional surveillance provided by the tech companies.  In 1984 Orwell named the security agency in his dystopia “The Ministry of Love.”  If we know what’s good for us, we’ll make eliminating the Ministry of Love our highest priority.  At the very least, prosecuting all the Obama apparatchiks should be a survival reflex for the Trump Administration.  These people are hell bent on destroying a free society.  With them having a strangle hold on our government this truly is an Orwellian nightmare.  I think I’d prefer to live under a simple dictatorship.  At least it would be easier to figure out the rules.

The Latest Turn in the Michael Flynn Case

Well, I guess I might as well put in my two cents on General Flynn’s case.  With the release of the latest withheld notes between the various FBI and DOJ actors in this tragedy it is now obvious to anyone but the willfully blind that this was a takedown without any crime to justify it.

Strzok, McCabe and Comey engineered the prosecution as part of their strategy of undermining faith in the Trump administration and crippling its effectiveness by removing a competent man.  This was part of the whole Russian collusion myth.  Now every man on the street can read the details of how they did it.  The only question is what will be done to punish those who perpetrated it?

Will these criminals be allowed to walk away scot free?  Between this and the Mueller investigation, three years of the Trump presidency was bombarded with false innuendo by the hostile media and the various partisan deep state actors who leaked the fake news to the press.  These unelected tyrants hijacked our country and held hostage the workings of our government.  Strzok, McCabe and Comey should pay a heavy price. They need to go to jail.

And there are other parties that had a direct hand in this conspiracy.  John Brennan and James Clapper are up to their elbows in this thing.  Letting them walk away unscathed would be a travesty of justice.  With respect to the echelons above them, I assume they’ve insulated themselves and only a confession by Comey, Brennan or Clapper could shed light on higher level culpability.  I’ll leave that for later consideration if we ever see justice reach as far as the mid-level criminals.

Strzok, McCabe and Comey should go to prison.  But will they?  Six months ago, I would have said yes.  But it’s six months later and nothing has happened.  Barr made a lot of noise about spying and the inappropriate actions taken by the FBI.  He appointed Durham in May 2019, a year ago, to look into all aspects of the Russian collusion scam.  And what has happened?  As far as I can tell, nothing.  My belief is that Barr and Durham are collecting evidence and waiting to see who wins the 2020 election.  If Trump wins maybe they’ll slap a few wrists and publish a report about how to stop such atrocious things from ever happening again.  If the Dems win, they’ll publish a report saying that everything was done by the book and the system works beautifully.

I had thought that I was as cynical as it was possible to be.  I was wrong.  I now believe that the deep state is basically immune to reform.  Barr is an insider.  He has done nothing and that is all he intends to do.  It will take an outsider who tears it down with a wrecking ball to make it change.  I only hope that when President Trump is re-elected that he appoints a new attorney general whose background is in the military and this man demolishes the alphabet bureaus from the top down and rebuilds them with honest men.  But that is probably a fantasy that will never be realized.

Understand, I would like nothing better than to be proven completely wrong about Barr’s intentions.  If I looked at the news tomorrow morning and it had a photo of Comey being frog-marched out of his house in his pajamas at 3 a.m. I would be the happiest man in the world.  Hearing that Peter Strzok was turning state’s evidence and had implicated his boss McCabe in treason would make me giddy with delight.  But with every passing day I think it’s more and more clear that President Trump is the only honest man in Washington.  And because he is, I guess that the only honorable treatment that General Flynn will experience in this whole travesty is a pardon from the President when everyone else fails to serve justice.

President Trump Kicks Jessie Liu to the Curb

More fallout from the Roger Stone set-up.

https://pjmedia.com/jchristianadams/president-trump-starts-to-drain-the-swamp-yanks-liu/

Jessie Liu, as United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, oversaw the prosecutors that railroaded Roger Stone.  She was up for a post in the Treasury Department but now, not so much.  Good.  Finally vindictiveness is being put to good use.

Now just do this one hundred thousand more times.

19DEC2019 – American Greatness Post of the Day – Angelo Codevilla – For Whom the New Rules?

Codevilla addresses the new reality of the Deep State justifying extra-legal activities based on bureaucratic authority

https://amgreatness.com/2019/12/18/for-whom-the-new-rules/

His point is if the Deep State agents who committed these crimes aren’t punished then the Republicans will have to embrace the same tactics purely out of self defense.  That is the same slippery slope that led the Romans to dictatorship.
