Gone Are the Dark Clouds That Had Me Blind

They say that, “Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”  And today was a day of woe for yours truly.  I had to catch up with an assortment of tedious chores.  But I will confess that it allowed me to feel extremely virtuous.  Finally, I’m completely prepared for the first storm of the winter.  Good.

I read a post called “How the Next Civil War Begins” by a guy named B. Duncan Moench.  His ideas fall in line with a lot of things that are floating around in the air.  His version has red states rejecting the results of the 2024 elections and calling for secession.  Well, okay, maybe.  But who knows and it’s definitely not something that debating about is going to clarify.  As the mathematical types might say, the solution of the problem is currently indeterminate.  The boundary conditions are unknown.  Quoting Dr. Flankon in the seminal movie “Matinee,” “Human-insect mutation is far from an exact science.”  And so is predicting the exact schedule of a collapsing empire.  You just can’t rush a revolution.  It’s like a cake in the oven.  Peek in on it too soon and it falls flat.  So, I’ll leave such speculation for when something definitive happens.

Today I was thinking about what a wonderful time it is to be red-pilled.  Now that I can disown the dominant cultural and social institutions of American life, I feel incredibly free and alive.  Once I knew that I won’t have any control over those aspects of the world around me I’ve been able to detach myself from them.  Now I concentrate on the things within my control and try to restrict as much as possible my interactions to people who share my world view.

Someone might say I’m isolating myself from the real world.  But I think it’s just the opposite.  Those who believe in complete absurdities like transgenderism and defunding the police are the ones detached from reality.  I’m part of the community of the sane.  And no matter how fragmented and vilified by the imbecile majority we may be, I have to consider us the privileged ones.  Because we can see.  And walking around amongst the blind is an advantaged position.  We can see where the madness of the crowd is leading and ultimately that should allow us to avoid falling over the cliff with them.

Now granted, sometimes it feels a little lonely to be surrounded by the insane.  There is a certain alienation when most of the people you see around you or online speak gibberish.  But eventually we’ll get used to it and just avoid it as much as possible.  It’s like those reality tv shows.  When they first began to proliferate, I was depressed to think that these were now the entertainment we were supposed to watch.  Eventually I saw that this was just a sorting process.  People could find their own level and gravitate to the entertainment they preferred.  Granted, good things to watch seem to have gotten rarer but the same principle applies today as before.  Mostly it’s a matter of learning how to research what you want.  Whether it’s entertainment or political opinion or news.  You just have to be a little pickier to find what is worthwhile.

And maybe it’s all to the good.  Choosing the company you keep may be the better way all around.  Maybe universal brotherhood is an impossibility.  And as it turns out there are an awful lot of crazy people out there.  Having them self-select to be my enemies may be the best way to go.  It’s like those BLM and rainbow banners on car bumpers and houses.  They give me fair warning that “here be monsters.”  You can’t ask for more than that.

So, thank you Managerial Class, Deep State, Intelligence Agencies and Election Fraudsters for clarifying the situation.  I’ve parted ways permanently from you and yours.  Now you’re just the obstacles that I steer around while I’m living my life.  And you’re the contrast that I can compare my actual friends to.  Good.

Cracks Continue to Appear on the Left

There is no more stereotyped group than New York City Jewish Intellectuals.  It brings to mind Woody Allen riffing on his Jewish girlfriend’s upbringing in Annie Hall:

You, you, you’re like New York, Jewish, left-wing, liberal, intellectual, Central Park West, Brandeis University, the socialist summer camps and the, the father with the Ben Shahn drawings, right, and the really, y’know, strike-oriented kind of, Red Diaper.

This demographic is as entrenched on the Left as anyone can be.  So when they start questioning their allegiance to “the Left” something’s definitely “happenin’ here.”

Liel Leibovitz writes for Tablet Magazine which describes itself as “a daily online magazine of Jewish news, ideas, and culture.”  In her article called

The Turn: When I saw the left give up everything I believe in, I changed politically. You can, too.”

She describes how a lifelong and sincere believer in the Left found herself betrayed by the Left on almost every principle she believed in.

You don’t get to be “against the rich” if the richest people in the country fund your party in order to preserve their government-sponsored monopolies. You are not “a supporter of free speech” if you oppose free speech for people who disagree with you. You are not “for the people” if you pit most of them against each other based on the color of their skin, or force them out of their jobs because of personal choices related to their bodies. You are not “serious about economic inequality” when you happily order from Amazon without caring much for the devastating impact your purchases have on the small businesses that increasingly are either subjugated by Jeff Bezos’ behemoth or crushed by it altogether. You are not “for science” if you refuse to consider hypotheses that don’t conform to your political convictions and then try to ban critical thought and inquiry from the internet. You are not an “anti-racist” if you label—and sort!—people by race. You are not “against conformism” when you scare people out of voicing dissenting opinions.”

So, just another data point.  Cognitive dissonance can break through even an intellectual’s disregard for reality.

What Will Our New Nation Look Like?

Everyone talks about the “Two Americas.”  One of them is well defined.  The Progressive America has declared its mission statement.  It is the Woke, Anti-White, Globalist Nation.  It will continue down that road for the foreseeable future.  If we want to see what it will look like in a few years it will look like San Francisco, Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago and Atlanta.  It will be a place that pits various grievance groups against white people, men, people who aren’t sexual deviants and probably other groups that haven’t yet been attacked because no one has had a chance to think up a grievance against them.  Based on current trends I would guess that the next target will be people who can legitimately pass a course in high school geometry.

So that’s one nation.  The other one is ours.  A lot of people assume that our nation will essentially be like what America was before the grievance movements started changing things in the 1960’s.  That is a possibility but I wouldn’t say it’s the only one or even the most likely outcome.  And I won’t pretend that I’m sure how it will turn out but I have been thinking about it lately.  I’ll go through my thinking on it.  Thinking about it methodically seems the most comprehensive way to avoid missing any cases.

I’ll start with the most pessimistic scenario, of course.  Let’s call this the complete triumph of the Left or the complete collapse of the Right.  Whichever angle you take on it, it’s where the Right loses all political battles and essentially disappears from the culture.  So, all the old ideas and customs disappear and are completely replaced even in memory with the woke culture.  Freedom of speech disappears and individual freedom becomes reduced to which particular sexual deviancy you currently espouse.  Basically, it will look like California everywhere.  If I’m being honest, I might say that this is one of the likelier possibilities.

Slightly less pessimistic, is the case where people like us become a sort of shunned pariah minority.  Sort of the way the Coptic Christians exist in Egypt after the Arabs established Islam as the state religion.  They are despised and their place in society is always subject to assault by the authorities and even by the population at large.  Everyone knows that if the Copts are persecuted beyond what the law already prescribes it is very doubtful that the perpetrators will suffer heavy consequences.  And once again, this is not an unheard-of eventuality.  In fact, it’s sort of the status quo in blue states.  Think of that wedding baker in Colorado who keeps getting charged by the authorities for following his conscience, even after the Supreme Court has already found in his favor on the facts of the case.  Harassment and persecution all the way down.

A third case would be for the Right to prevail in some subset of the United States territory.  So, let’s say that the country doesn’t technically break up but the individual states are allowed to legislate social policy according to their beliefs.  One way this might work out is for these states to keep the current status quo.  Leave all the current laws but enforce the things that the federal government has been neglecting.  So, for instance they might enforce immigration laws and protect first and second amendment rights.

But they might decide that they want to roll back many of the things that the federal government and especially the Supreme Court have ordered over the last 50 to 70 years.  And there is a whole boat of things that would be covered there.  In reverse chronological order that would include, transgender rights, gay marriage, sodomy laws, abortion and affirmative action.  And there could be many other changes.  Access to welfare could be curtailed or eliminated altogether.  Even programs like social security and Medicare and Medicaid might be eliminated.  One thing that might be changed is the concept of citizenship based on birth in the territory of the United States.  Even the right of citizens of other states immigrating into another state might be questioned.

So, it could be seen how in a place where these types of changes are being considered or even enacted the nature of citizenship and patriotism would be very different.  Maybe Texan would become a much more important identifier than American.  And I could see regional identity become something important.  If several adjacent states coordinated their legal and commercial affairs, they could make a region almost the equivalent of a nation state.  I don’t claim to think this option is one of the most likely but I can see how it might be the most beneficial arrangement for our nation.

Another possible outcome but much less likely is the Right essentially wins.  We somehow build a big enough coalition to win the legislative battles and make the administrative changes that prevent us from being victimized by the Left.  Here we have to assume that the process of coalition building will involve identity groups negotiating quid pro quo arrangements where no one would get everything they wanted.  It would mean that this coalition would still be made up of adversarial groups fighting in a zero-sum game and only cooperating in the face of the greater evil that the Left represents to normal people of various ethnicities.  This will be a kind of cold civic nationalism where grudging tolerance will be the rule.  Once again patriotism will not be any part of this society.

I guess the final case is where someway, somehow Americans come to their senses and realize that what they had in the mid-twentieth century was as close to heaven on earth as anything could be and reject leftism and all the harmful and dysfunctional policies that the Left has spread and fostered.  Then we would have a country like we used to have.  I rate the possibility of this case so close to zero that arrays of supercomputers working on the probability couldn’t find a non-zero decimal place in the whole number.

So, these are the cases I can come up with.  Do you know of any other case?  Which one do you think will occur?

What Portion Have We in Harvard and Wall Street? – To Your Tents, O Deplorables!

In the King James Version at 1 Kings 12 the people of Israel receive Solomon’s son Rehoboam’s reply to their request to treat them more gently.

“13And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him; 14And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. 15Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 16So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. Or to quote from a less hallowed but fairly popular source “I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it any further.”

I find the analogy of this to our present situation.  The descendants of the Puritans are the Elites that run and own much of the country.  They live in the blue states and send their kids to the Ivy League schools and run the Fortune 500 companies and infest the media companies.  They have told us that we are unworthy.  They want to chastise us with scorpions.  They have altered the deal and we should consider ourselves lucky if they let us exist at all.

Well, maybe it’s time we walk away from these masters of the universe and attend to our own affairs.  We don’t run multi-national corporations or sit on the Supreme Court.  But we have parents and children and we love the life that God put in us.  What portion have we in Harvard and Wall Street?  Neither have we inheritance in the Sons of the Mayflower.  To your tents, O Deplorables.  Now see to thine own house, Jeb Bush.

Wherever we find ourselves in positions of majority we need to begin the process of taking control of our own lives.  We will have to push back against the toxic narratives and destructive policies that Washington inflicts on us and our children.  Hopefully someone like Ron DeSantis or some other red state leader will step forward and recognize that this is the perfect time to begin the process of saying no to Washington.  The dispute over social media discrimination is the likeliest place where a break with Washington can have a meaningful outcome.  Punishing Facebook or Twitter seems to be within the power of a governor and state legislature and could let these companies know that their immunity from consequences is over.

We are Americans.  That used to mean we were free men.  I think we should remember that and try to make it mean something again.  Come on you supposed leaders, do something right.

Even the Left Admits There Are Now Two Americas

In Ed Kilgore’s screed he talks about the undeniable fact that the two Americas are permanently opposed to each other on almost every issue and that we basically despise each other.  Of course, he describes it from the point of view of a Leftist and paints our people as the unenlightened, unintelligent and immoral side of the argument but at least he isn’t claiming that we don’t speak for half the country.  And he doesn’t pretend that we will come around to his way of thinking.  They hate us and we’re learning to hate them right back.

From my point of view the Left saying out loud that we are “not of the body” is a very good thing.  And I hope they start talking about getting rid of us by dumping the flyover states and going it alone.  That would be the single best thing that could possibly happen to us.  I don’t think it’s likely.  I think they know we would be phenomenally better off without them and they would be in a really bad place without us.  But even if it’s just talk, I think they should be encouraged to talk this way.  If enough of the stupider people in their camp started repeating this idea enough maybe we could make them think it’s their idea and stampeded the whole thing through before they have a chance to wise up the idiots.

The way to assist in the process of convincing the Left that we should move apart is to resist every policy that benefits them and make the red states as uncomfortable as possible for their ilk.  I think the red state governors should do everything possible to make their cities less appealing to Leftists.  Whatever policies the cities have promulgated should be reviewed at the state level and vetoed if they tend to attract Leftists to the red states.  The first thing I can think of is wean the population off welfare.  Not just temporarily but permanently.  The next thing I’d go after is the public schools and colleges.  Review their curricula and delete all the woke and LGBTQ stuff.  Hungary just enacted a law banning the proselytizing of minors on the homosexual lifestyle.  It was hilarious when the gay members of the EU governments started howling about this law.  That’s how I know it’s an effective law.  The public schools and state colleges are funded with our tax dollars.  Pulling that money out of the hands of Leftists is the single largest impact we can have in the Culture War.  Imagine if we could effectively end the programming of our children against us.  That alone might win the war.

And most importantly the states can nullify the anti-Constitutional federal laws and policies.  Banning affirmative action and allowing individuals to sue corporations for curtailing free speech on the social media platforms would put the hurt on those companies who have jumped on the woke bandwagon.  These things would be the best way to re-establish the constitutional basis for American freedom.  Without freedom of speech and religion and association we are not really Americans, we’re prisoners of war, we’re strangers in our own land.

So, yeah, I agree with Ed Kilgore, strange as that is to say.  We are two nations and we should be separated and allowed to go our own ways.  It’s no different from Czechoslovakia becoming Slovakia and the Czech Republic.  Who knows, after we part ways we might find we can be very good neighbors.  They can buy our food products and minerals and we can buy their movies, at least after they’ve been put through a wash cycle to remove the filth.  We can even divide up the nuclear arsenal.  Although with their strong aversion to all things masculine maybe they better just let us take care of those scary things.  Wouldn’t want to upset their troops during their drag queen war maneuvers.

Let’s agree to disagree and get on with the divorce.

A Fourth of July Perspective

Looking at the opinion articles from the Left, the first thought I have is one I’ve thought before.  Juan Williams must be the stupidest human being on this green earth.  But then I get to the second article and suddenly a new champion emerges.  And so it goes.  The content of these “opinions” is just blatant partisanship and hatred of America that wouldn’t pass any test for objectivity.

But after I get over the outrage I feel over the ingratitude these dimwits feel toward the country that made them citizens of the first world, I think my next emotion is gratitude for the clarity they have provided.  Up until the Obama years we could imagine that we were all patriotic citizens of the greatest country on earth.  Up until the Trump years we could pretend that the Democrats were invested in seeing this country prosper.  Now we know that fully 40% of the citizens of this country want to destroy it.  Another 20% are too stupid to see that the Democrats are trying to do exactly that.  That leaves about 40% who are actual Americans.

The question in my mind is how to bring that 40% together in a way that benefits us and harms the other 60%.  And I think both sides of that proposition are important.

On the positive side we need to protect our people from the madness being unleashed all around us.  We need to build schools that talk about the two countries that exist within the fifty states.  It isn’t enough to use the old patriotic boilerplate to teach American history and civics.  It is critically important to tell the whole tale of how Alinskyite tactics were used to capture the schools and colleges and then everything else.  We have to warn the young people about what they will find in the real world and what they’ll have to do to protect themselves and eventually their own children from the poison.  We’ll need to describe how the Supreme Court stripped away our rights and invented corrupt new ones like affirmative action.  So, somebody has to write those text books and someone has to find teach this material.

We’ll need to identify each other and support each other commercially and socially.  We’ll need our own social media networks and we’ll need our own clubs and other organizations.  Setting up a network that encompasses that 40% and provides actual benefits for the membership will be difficult.  It’s never been done before.  Up until now we thought America was one country so one set of schools and one set of fraternal organizations seemed adequate.  But it’s vitally important that organizing these things begins.

On the negative side we need to make sure that the 60% gets to reap the whirlwind that they’ve sown.  Every city they’ve destroyed should be their responsibility.  Let them find a way to pay for the services that won’t have the middle class to pay for.  After a million affluent people leave New York City the remainder will not be able to pay for running the transit system and the schools and the garbage pickup and the road and bridge repair.  New York State will end up paying the tab but they don’t have the resources.  And you and I shouldn’t pay it either.  And that goes for Los Angeles and Minneapolis and Chicago and Detroit and Portland and Atlanta and St Louis.  Sure, Atlanta and St. Louis are in red states and their state governments should use the bankruptcy of those cities to rein in the Democrat politics.  Putting the cities into receivership will allow the state to dictate the policies the police practice to end the crime spree going on.  And they can clean up the election fraud.  It’s time the cities are forced to run honestly.

So, I’m grateful that the Left are no longer my problem.  Now I’m waiting for the Right to step up and begin to organize and manage the new nation that they represent.  That is my Fourth of July wish.

When in the Course of Human Events – Part 3

In the second installment of this series, I looked at the Declaration of Independence and tried to show the similarities between the grievances that existed in 1776 and our own.  But I did indicate briefly that the difficulties we face in trying to throw off our oppressors are extraordinarily more difficult than what the colonials faced with George III’s England.

The United States federal government is the single most powerful organization that has ever existed in all of human history.  It has the sole control of the most powerful conventional armed forces on the face of the earth and also the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in existence.  It has the ability to unleash weapons that very probably could obliterate human life from the face of the planet.  Compare that to a fraction of the 18th Century British Navy and Army and some Hessian troops.

Granted, without the willing support of the American people, the federal government is not fully in control of this vast juggernaut of military power but there has never been a time in the last two hundred years when another power has existed on this continent that could threaten that government.  And I include the period of the civil war into that statement.

In addition to the military might, the US federal government controls the de facto reserve currency of the global monetary system.  They can literally write a check for a quadrillion dollars and it would be accepted as cash.  That’s a thousand trillion, a number that up till now was just a way to count the gas atoms in a jar but now as we’ve headed into ludicrous debt territory has becomes a real thing.  So, this is the government that pays for your elderly relatives’ social security and maybe even your medical coverage.  And they collect your income tax and send you your refund check.  Imagine if they told your bank that your accounts aren’t really yours anymore.

And through the FBI and the NSA and their loyal lackeys in Google and Facebook and Twitter they control all your personal information and all your electronic correspondence.  They know who is organizing against them before the organizers do.  In fact, they actually are the organizers.  The FBI sets up these rebellious cells and looks to see who is willing to join them.  These are just fly traps that they set out to gage the temperament of the population.

Does this mean I think rebellion is impossible?  No, not at all.  What it means is that the men who decide to rebel will have to be powerful, smart and very brave.  It means that a popular movement will need a cadre of prominent men who will build a political movement from the top down.  Without Donald Trump we would have gotten Hillary Clinton as president or at best prettier Hillary, JEB!  Those were the only two choices that were going to be available.  Whoever is going to lead the non-leftist party is going to have to build a machine that can harness the power of that constituency both in power and out.  We shouldn’t have to wait until 2024 to start organizing and getting results.  Someone should already be rounding up the governors and legislatures of the red states to coordinate legislative and executive actions that protect their citizens from the usurpations that are presently going on in Washington.  There needs to be a reaction to the election fraud legislation in Congress.  It needs to reach into the cities in Red States to close the door on voter fraud once and for all.

And voter fraud is just one item on the agenda.  A clear strategy is needed to confront any and all BLM type campaigns of intimidation against law enforcement and the innocent citizens that depend on it for safety and peace of mind.  Information should be shared across the whole red state confederation to identify the leaders who go back and forth to various cities to lead and coordinate the Antifa and BLM attacks.  These people need to be arrested, charged, tried, convicted and imprisoned for the real crimes they’ve committed.

The red states need to reject all of the anti-white and anti-male affirmative action programs and laws.  All of these laws and programs need to be declared illegal and their operation in red states ended.  This includes the anti-white and more generally anti-normal bias that is practiced on the social networking sites.

So, that is how I see us rebelling against the Left.  Our Declaration of Independence is just us waving the Declaration and the Constitution in front of the noses of the Left and saying we aren’t going to let you nullify these documents.  We still have all these rights and if you say we don’t we’re going to work against you at the state level if necessary to protect them.  We’ll need to start coordinating boycotts and state lawsuits against corporations that sponsor or condone these discriminatory practices.  We need to raise awareness among our people that there is a way to redress the attacks we are experiencing from the Left and their allies in industry, academia and the media.  So that would be the beginning of a rebellion.

Where it goes from there is a fair question.  But until we at least do something at the levels where we do control the reins of power, we’ll just keep losing ground.

And finally do leaders like the ones I describe exist?  I think they might.  But there’s only one way to know for sure.  And that is when they stand up and say no and then make it stick.  That’s where the rubber meets the road when they push back and you have to push back harder.

When in the Course of Human Events – Part 2

My first part in this series of posts was a love song to the kind of Fourth of July celebration we had when I was a kid.  And that was fun to think about and write.  But the heart of this exercise was a thought I had about the underlying reason for the holiday.  All of this crap about Juneteenth being Independence Day got me thinking about the document that declared our independence.

I know it’s old fashioned to still think about a country that’s founded on the cause of equality.  After all, equality or as it is now called equity is the cudgel that the Left uses to deprive us of our rights.  And it is very fashionable on the Dissident Right to condemn all things associated with Enlightenment political thought.  So be it, I’m a reactionary.

But when I look at the text of the Declaration, I see that it was a list of grievances that free men were making against their government and a statement that they weren’t going to take it any longer.  And the more I read into it the closer and closer is the analogy to the situation we currently find ourselves in.  Let’s look at it.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

If we decided to end our association with the Blue States, I think I would be very hard put to find better words than those found in the introduction to the declaration.  I’d borrow the whole thing.

 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Other than the use of the words, “colonies” and “King of Great Britain” this section of the document, called the preamble, is also almost word for word the best thing that could be written to describe why we would want to escape from the clutches of the Left.  Who could hope to write a better justification than this, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”?  It’s perfect.  We are being deprived of the things that make life worth living.  We are treated as criminals and third-class citizens in our own country and we are tired of it.

I’ll pick a few of the grievances the colonists listed to show a little of the similarities to today’s grievances.  Obviously not everything jibes in this list because we are not in a sparsely inhabited wilderness.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

(In our case this would equate to allowing Antifa and BLM to burn, loot and murder our neighbors)

(Ask the guys who are rotting in jail whose only crime was being in Washington D.C. on January 6th.)

 

And the conclusion:

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

Once again, switch out words for Great Britain and British Crown and decide what the new country will be called and you can use the whole darn thing.

What I think I want to show with this analysis is the reasonableness of wanting to escape from the Left.  The parallels with 1776 are obvious.  All the same natural conditions exist for rebellion.  They are reducing us to serfs and we’re not used to such an existence.  We know what it is to be free and we want freedom back.

What isn’t equivalent is the level of difficulty in escaping from our masters.  George III was a peevish nobleman across what was then a very wide ocean.  We are trapped in a barrel with a badger.  We can’t run and we can’t hide.

When in the Course of Human Events – Part 1

I am grateful to the Haters of America for putting their new Independence Day in June.  I’ve always loved July as the finest time of the year.  And not just because my birthday is slap dab in the middle of it or because it is the hottest and therefore the time when we in the north feel most vitally alive.

But also, because the Fourth of July was every young boy’s idea of the perfect holiday.  You had it right in the middle of your summer vacation (back then we had all of June, July and August off).  It included playing with and watching fireworks, eating huge amounts of barbecued food, corn on the cob and watermelon and drinking lemonade.  We would go down to Coney Island and swim in the polluted waters of Lower New York Harbor and then watch the fireworks display that the city put on for us proles.  It was a mighty fine time to be had by all and sundry.  I can remember neighbors that typically spent most of the year yelling at their neighbors’ kids coming out and sitting on their porches and stoops and talking about the weather and the baseball teams and acting almost human.  We didn’t really think about the patriotic aspect of it.  After all we were boys and therefore barely human.  But I am grateful to the Cloud People and Antifa and BLM and the illegal immigrant lobby and the LGBTQ Mafia and everyone else who hates the normal everyday things that America stood for.  I’m grateful that I no longer have to share the Fourth of July with them.

And of course, the Fourth of July stands for more than just fireworks and hot dogs.  But I wanted to start out with those things because they are the things that make it more than just important.  They make it fun.  And heaven knows we need as many things that can make us happy right now as we can get.  I’m having the family over for a Fourth of July barbecue and the weather isn’t going to cooperate.  After days of 90° weather, it’s going to be in the 60’s and cloudy.  But that just means we’ll be able to have a baseball catch and play horseshoes without getting completely drenched in sweat.

We’re going to have a great time.  After the barbecue I know Camera Girl will have desserts, splendiferous desserts.  Ice cream and whipped cream will abound.  And there will be Italian Cheesecake and maybe even pastries.  And I’ll show my little 2 ½ year old granddaughter fireflies in the yard for her first time.  And we’ll even shoot off a few small fireworks and then maybe watch some of the big stuff in the sky.

And I guarantee there will be not a whisper of white privilege or white rage or reparations or Juneteenth or Critical Race Theory.  But there will be a little history lesson where I’ll find out if the boys all know what the Fourth of July commemorates.

And just to end this part of the post on the right note I’ll include some words that probably are more relevant today than they’ve been since shortly after they were written.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

They almost sound topical.  We’ll take a swipe at it next.
