{"id":10001,"date":"2020-02-19T21:05:51","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T02:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=10001"},"modified":"2020-02-27T20:07:58","modified_gmt":"2020-02-28T01:07:58","slug":"shakespeare-in-film-part-1-introduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/19\/shakespeare-in-film-part-1-introduction\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakespeare in Film \u2013 Part 1 \u2013 Introduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I enjoy a cross section of Shakespeare\u2019s work, comedy, tragedy, history.\u00a0 I enjoy reading the works, live performances and film versions.\u00a0 On the other hand, I haven\u2019t studied Shakespeare or even theater in any formal way.\u00a0 I just like what I like and dislike what I don\u2019t.\u00a0 For that reason I don\u2019t have a technical vocabulary to make my critiques sound authoritative or learned.\u00a0 So I\u2019ll use the same style that I use for all my other reviews.\u00a0 I hope Shakespeare doesn\u2019t mind sharing the stage I\u2019ve populated previously with the Twilight Zone, Captain Kirk and Plan 9 from Outer Space.<\/p>\n<p>And just to go a little further with my preferences for these plays on film, I prefer the traditional presentation of the plays in the garb and surroundings that match the story that Shakespeare provided.\u00a0 Also I prefer the male characters to be played by men and the girls to be girls.\u00a0 So I\u2019m probably not going to be interested in seeing Dame Judy Dench playing King Lear or a man prancing around as Titania.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen a production of Richard III set in WWII era London.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t terrible but I didn\u2019t see the point. \u00a0\u00a0So this should be fun, for me.\u00a0 Hopefully some people will be interested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I enjoy a cross section of Shakespeare\u2019s work, comedy, tragedy, history.\u00a0 I enjoy reading the works, live performances and film versions.\u00a0 On the other hand,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[239,237],"tags":[43,38,1355,295,2363],"class_list":["post-10001","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-movie-reviews","category-reviews","tag-movie-review","tag-review","tag-reviews","tag-shakespeare","tag-shakespeare-in-film"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
