Last week I talked about enjoying life during the enforced depression that the Left thinks we deserve.\u00a0 In a lot of ways this is similar to what went on during the Iraq War.\u00a0 The media gave us a steady drum beat of death and defeat for almost five straight years.\u00a0 They will forego any cheerful or happy news in order to break our spirit and improve their chances in the next election.\u00a0 As the progs are awfully fond of saying never let a crisis go to waste.\u00a0 They\u2019ve latched onto the COVID-19 story and they will say anything and everything they can think of to blame the President.\u00a0 First, they will blame him for not doing enough.\u00a0 But once it becomes clear that all their direst predictions aren\u2019t realistic, they will switch rapidly to blaming him for the economic crash that the quarantine caused.\u00a0 And right now, they\u2019re doing both.\u00a0 After all they\u2019ll milk the fear of death all the way to when fear of starvation overtakes it.\u00a0 And just like at the end of the Bush II term when the economic crash struck, you\u2019ll feel like fate has stepped in and taken your enemy\u2019s side.\u00a0 Thinking back to 2008 you\u2019ll remember how inevitable it seemed that McCain would lose to Obama.\u00a0 It seemed like nothing could be done.<\/p>\n
But this is a different President and these are different times.\u00a0 Already you can see that President Trump isn\u2019t the passive victim that Bush and McCain were.\u00a0 He makes his case and although he\u2019ll listen to experts if he thinks things aren\u2019t happening fast enough or that too much caution is being used, he\u2019ll make a change.\u00a0 Look at the way he questioned the ventilator nonsense that DeBlasio and Cuomo were handing him.\u00a0 And when they said they didn\u2019t have enough hospital beds he called their bluff and set up hospitals on ships and in convention centers.\u00a0 When the experts said we\u2019d have to wait months to start opening up the country President Trump forced them to look realistically at the difference between Wyoming and Manhattan and admit that most areas of the country aren\u2019t going to suffer if they go back to work.\u00a0 Now the various states like Florida and Texas are actually opening up for business and a more normal life.\u00a0 And that\u2019s spreading even to places in the blue states.\u00a0 People in Michigan and even New York are demanding some easing of the ridiculous \u201chide under a rock\u201d strategy that hasn\u2019t achieved anything meaningful.<\/p>\n
So, here\u2019s the payoff of this essay.\u00a0 Stop the doom and gloom.\u00a0 I have good friends who are already talking about how we\u2019re doomed in November.\u00a0 Mail in ballots, too many senate seats to defend, backlash for the downturn, not enough judgeships being passed, you name it they\u2019re fretting.\u00a0 Well I have the same advice for them and everyone else.<\/p>\n
Relax.<\/p>\n
Sure, there are all kinds of problems.\u00a0 And for the people in the blue states it\u2019s going to be really bad.\u00a0 The small businessmen in New York and the other northeast states have their backs to the wall.\u00a0 But from my point of view that is more of a problem for governors of those states.\u00a0 They\u2019re the ones who refuse to loosen the restrictions on business.\u00a0 They\u2019re the ones who\u2019ll have to answer to the voters for it.\u00a0 And those are the states that mostly don\u2019t vote republican.\u00a0 So, if the President is smart, he\u2019ll take care of his own.\u00a0 The outreach should be to places like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Michigan.\u00a0 But he should make sure that he takes credit for getting things moving again and blame the Democrats in those states who dragged their feet.\u00a0 And he should do everything he can to highlight the sensible policies that Republican governors in places like Texas and Florida took and how that sped up their recoveries.<\/p>\n
Our part in all this is not letting the FUD get to us.\u00a0 FUD, in case you didn\u2019t know isn\u2019t a Looney Tunes character.\u00a0 It\u2019s the acronym for fear, uncertainty and disinformation.\u00a0 It\u2019s what the media pumps out on a 24\/7 basis.\u00a0 If you let everything they say worry you then you\u2019re going to be a wreck by November.<\/p>\n
So, relax.<\/p>\n
Your job is to help out your friends and family through all the chaos that comes.\u00a0 But remember to inject some fun into your life and theirs.\u00a0 If you remember back in 2016 every single poll showed Trump behind Clinton by 5 to 10 points.\u00a0 Think about that.\u00a0 Does that sound like they were using honest numbers?\u00a0 That was propaganda meant to convince you not to even bother to vote.\u00a0 They are already doing the same thing.\u00a0 Save yourself a lot grief and just worry about the things you can control.\u00a0 Take care of your problems and let the President handle the big stuff.\u00a0 That\u2019s what he\u2019s good at.\u00a0 He\u2019ll come up with practical solutions and he\u2019ll make sure people hear about it.\u00a0 That\u2019s the difference between him and Bush, McCain and Romney.\u00a0 He\u2019s a winner and they were losers.<\/p>\n
So, relax.\u00a0 Have some fun.\u00a0 If you\u2019re in a lockdown area have a telecon with your relatives where everyone has their favorite snacks and the little kids talk about whatever cool things they\u2019re interested in that week.\u00a0 One of my younger grandsons was telling me all about his latest dinosaur movie where one carnivore was biting off the arm of a T. Rex and blood went all over the place.\u00a0 Bless his blood thirsty little mind.\u00a0 He had a blast telling me all about it.\u00a0 And I had a bigger blast hearing about it.\u00a0 And we all agreed we\u2019re going to have a great barbecue as soon as this nonsense is over.<\/p>\n
So, relax.\u00a0 Take care of yourself and let the President worry about the big stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s why we hired him in the first place.\u00a0 And put in a good word for him with your nervous friends and tell them to relax too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
