How Sweet It Is!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back four years ago at this point in the campaign the public face of the Left was confident and dismissive of Donald Trump and his electoral chances.\u00a0 But what a difference four years makes.\u00a0 Here we are right after the conventions and already the stink of naked fear is already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2020\/aug\/28\/donald-trump-2020-election-feels-like-2016\">wafting off of the pundits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of my favorite lines (and I quote these so you won&#8217;t have to sully yourself over at the Guardian):<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The good news for Democrats is that Joe Biden is ahead in the polls. The bad news is that Hillary Clinton was also ahead in the polls. Biden\u2019s lead may be sliding in critical states, and some estimates show him underperforming Clinton in the critical state of Wisconsin. Biden\u2019s overall margin over Trump is greater than Clinton\u2019s was at her peak. But FiveThirtyEight reports, troublingly, that \u201cthere are also nine states where Biden\u2019s margin over Trump is smaller than Clinton\u2019s was at this point in the campaign,\u201d including \u201cmany Rust Belt battleground states\u201d.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;But the right has a very clear message and they hammer it home with relentless force: the Democrats want lawless anarchy in the streets and destructive socialist economic policy, your children will not be safe. There will be mob rule, riots, looting. Immigrants will pour across the border. Anarchy and mayhem will take hold. The Republicans are the voice of our patriotic heroes, while Democrats want to tear down the Washington Monument, defund the police, and silence your political opinions with their \u201ccancel culture\u201d.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, what do you know, they are paying attention.\u00a0 So this election is still the election from hell and\u00a0 don&#8217;t be surprised if brownshirts are sent out to assault voters in Republican strongholds.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s still very comforting to know that the Left knows there&#8217;s an awakening going on among Americans that the Left is a threat to normal, sane life.\u00a0 And that can&#8217;t be good for their election chances.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back four years ago at this point in the campaign the public face of the Left was confident and dismissive of Donald Trump and his<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,6],"tags":[1799,16],"class_list":["post-11789","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","category-trump","tag-2020-election","tag-trump"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>The Democrats Are Beginning to Panic.
