{"id":1333,"date":"2017-07-29T10:24:42","date_gmt":"2017-07-29T14:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=1333"},"modified":"2017-07-29T10:24:42","modified_gmt":"2017-07-29T14:24:42","slug":"justified-a-tv-series-review-part-5-season-5-6-conclusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2017\/07\/29\/justified-a-tv-series-review-part-5-season-5-6-conclusion\/","title":{"rendered":"Justified &#8211; A TV Series Review \u2013 Part 5 \u2013 Season 5 &#038; 6 (Conclusion)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2017\/07\/13\/justified-a-tv-series-review-part-4-season-3-4\/\">Justified \u2013 A TV Series Review \u2013 Part 4 \u2013 Season 3 &amp; 4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wow!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s some damn show.\u00a0 I won\u2019t drop any spoilers.\u00a0 Suffice it to say that in the last four episodes everything seemed to be going to hell and I was incensed at the trajectory I saw for the plot.\u00a0 But by the conclusion I was satisfied that there wasn\u2019t a better possible ending.\u00a0 I\u2019ll take a while to digest the whole story.\u00a0 There\u2019s a lot there.\u00a0 Criminals and cops and their girls.\u00a0 But at the end Raylin and Boyd together are the motor that runs the show.\u00a0 They are like the two poles of a magnet.\u00a0 Opposite and linked.\u00a0 And then there\u2019s Ava.\u00a0 Who\u2019s responsible for that disaster?\u00a0 And then there\u2019s just the sheer scope of the mayhem. By the end of the show the killing becomes like a steady rain.\u00a0 I seriously wondered if the last episode would close on nothing left of the cast but body bags in the morgue.<\/p>\n<p>Justified is a very well-made crime drama.\u00a0 The main characters are interesting and in some ways sympathetic.\u00a0 The run of the show is neither too short nor too long to provide a solid entertainment experience.\u00a0 The story runs its course and the potential of the situation like the coal in one of the Harlan County mines is extracted and exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>In a crime story that has both, it\u2019s sometimes difficult to strike the correct balance between drama and comedy.\u00a0 In my opinion Justified manages that balance unusually well.\u00a0 With the large and shifting parade of criminals and lawmen, victims and friends, there were many colorful characters that provided ample opportunities for laughs.\u00a0 But often that laughter was tinged with disgust at the ignorance, greed or stupidity that was the source.\u00a0 And the laughs were often at the expense of the lawmen too.\u00a0 Trying to outsmart idiots sometimes ended up poorly.\u00a0 And Raylin consistently had troubles with his love life.\u00a0 Too often it intersected with his work.\u00a0 And when that happened, his boss Art would call out, \u201cRaylin, would you come in my office and close the door?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Critiquing entertainment is far from an exact science.\u00a0 Objectivity is not even a theoretical consideration.\u00a0 Why I like Justified so much probably has more to do with me than with the show.\u00a0 And if your tastes are at all different from mine then we could completely disagree on the quality of this TV show.\u00a0 With all of that said, I highly recommend Justified to anyone who likes well written and acted drama with a healthy dose of ironic humor thrown in for leavening.\u00a0 Everything about the show is well done and enjoyable.\u00a0 And probably best of all it has the correct balance.\u00a0 There is a beginning, middle and end.\u00a0 At the end, it was enough.\u00a0 Anymore extracted from these characters will need to be a different chapter in a different place and with a different flavor.\u00a0 Harlan County, Kentucky has been successfully mined and the treasure collected and sold to the consumers.\u00a0 Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justified \u2013 A TV Series Review \u2013 Part 4 \u2013 Season 3 &amp; 4 &nbsp; Wow!
