I was talking on the phone today with an old friend.\u00a0 We got to discussing the situation in New York City and thinking of what it will develop into if the current trends continue. \u00a0I said it brought to my mind the Lord Humungus<\/a> and his status as Warlord over his area of the Wasteland in Mad Max.\u00a0 And my friend informed me that something like that is already happening.\u00a0 Some of the gang leaders are starting to move out of the \u2018hood and taking control of the infrastructure in the formerly safe neighborhoods of the Upper East Side.\u00a0 For instance, they have begun riding their ATVs on some of the recreational areas that are reserved for bicycles and joggers and walkers.\u00a0 We speculated on the day when the gangs would elect their own mayor and dictate terms to the rest of the city.<\/p>\n

My friend wondered if it was time for the next cycle of renewal, if a new Giuliani would restore order to New York City.\u00a0 My opinion was that it was already too late.\u00a0 He thought I was talking about the demographic change.\u00a0 I said in a way.\u00a0 The change was the influx of white hipsters.\u00a0 Without changing the racial mix, they had tipped the city into a permanent radical left majority. \u00a0My theorem was that unless the leftist whites disappeared the city would continue to slide into anarchy and dysfunction.\u00a0 But my friend wasn\u2019t convinced that even that change would be enough.\u00a0 He felt that the majority minority demographic in New York rendered it permanently dysfunctional.\u00a0 He further asked had any majority minority state ever managed to achieve a healthy functional state.\u00a0 I said how about Singapore.\u00a0 He countered that Singapore is 75% Chinese.\u00a0 Then I mentioned Switzerland and that got him thinking.\u00a0 He had been to Switzerland several times and he was extremely impressed by their harmonious society.\u00a0 But his one point of disagreement was whether we could consider the French, German and Italian populations there different enough from each other to qualify as a good example of a non-homogeneous society.\u00a0 I agreed that the present-day United States was far less harmonious than the Swiss.\u00a0 But I wondered if we could learn something from their example.<\/p>\n

But my friend was very pessimistic.\u00a0 I said maybe after the cities crash and burn it will be enough to change people\u2019s minds about the woke nonsense and allow a consensus to restore order.\u00a0 He countered that the elites didn\u2019t push the woke stuff because they believe in it but because it provided a divide and conquer strategy.\u00a0 I replied that I think only a fraction of the Left was this cynical and the rest were true believers in this madness.\u00a0 But as I thought about that it hardly was much comfort.<\/p>\n

Maybe he\u2019s right.\u00a0 Maybe there is no way for the rest of our society to overcome the intentional damage that the Left is doing to the United States.\u00a0 But it occurred to me that if a state or states were able to exclude from their jurisdiction the chaos that the Left is inflicting on us maybe they could act as a nucleus and a template for more areas to stamp out the radical lawlessness and anti-white madness that is on display in places like New York, Seattle and Portland.<\/p>\n

As far as the form that our society will need to take in a post-white-majority future I don\u2019t assume it will much resemble Switzerland or Singapore.\u00a0 Our combination of Europeans, Hispanics, Blacks and various Asian populations are not the same as these other places.\u00a0 We have different histories and trajectories in this country.\u00a0 But the legal framework that worked in the twentieth century is just as valid with new immigrants as it was with Italians, Germans, Irish and Poles.\u00a0 What we lack is the solidarity among the native-born population to demand that everyone obey the same laws and play by the same rules.<\/p>\n

What has evolved on the Left over the last sixty years is a strategy to use black resentment over past injustices as a justification for permanent immunity from the requirement to live in a normal lawful way.\u00a0 Permanent welfare benefits and now immunity from arrest for even violent felonies is not something that can be tolerated in a functional society.\u00a0 It guarantees that no one, not even law-abiding blacks will want to live anywhere near these under-class hell holes.\u00a0 Now the federal government is looking at ways to disperse these criminal populations into the suburbs and rural areas and make the crime and violence a pandemic.<\/p>\n

Pandering to this idea of black victimhood will not work.\u00a0 Only a zero-tolerance approach to the lawlessness that is occurring across the country will end the madness.\u00a0 But if we don\u2019t start doing the things we need to, America won\u2019t resemble Switzerland or even Singapore.\u00a0 It will look like Brazil or even South Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
