All the stuff about Tucker Carlson has got me sort of bummed out.\u00a0 Sure, I knew they did all this stuff.\u00a0 But they\u2019re not even trying to pretend they\u2019re not doing it.\u00a0 Hell, they\u2019re bragging about it.\u00a0 They want to us to know they don\u2019t even care if we tell the world.\u00a0 Basically, they\u2019re taking a victory lap.\u00a0 All the stuff they did in the Russiagate operation they are now doing openly.\u00a0 Not a single one of them suffered any consequences for the treason they committed and they can now do it completely openly because they own the Justice Department, the Presidency and the Courts.<\/p>\n
Intellectually I knew all of that already.\u00a0 I guess viscerally it\u2019s hitting home.\u00a0 This is East Germany, this is North Korea, this is Saddam\u2019s Iraq.\u00a0 Elections will be 100% assured, the security agencies will arrest the right people and more importantly will not arrest the left people, the people in charge will live very comfortable lives, everyone else will shut up and take what they are given.<\/p>\n
I guess the part of it that\u2019s so depressing is how docile the millennials are.\u00a0 They\u2019ve been bought off.\u00a0 They\u2019ll take their guaranteed income and live in their basement apartment with their three roommates and slowly shrink to nothing, evaporate or sublimate as if they never existed.\u00a0 Not with a bang but with a whimper.<\/p>\n
Well, anyway, the power\u2019s been off for about ten hours.\u00a0 The thunderstorm must have taken down a powerline or zapped a substation.\u00a0 Probably the former.\u00a0 The generator is humming along.\u00a0 The guy who installed it and the transfer switch is sort of a crazy guy but he knew his business.\u00a0 It runs on propane and is relatively quiet, a little quitter than my lawn mower.\u00a0 It\u2019s a quiet day here and I already cut the lawn before all these thunderstorms dumped about four inches of rain on us recently.\u00a0 It cooled off today.\u00a0 It went from ninety to seventy and that\u2019ll give me a chance to get some outdoor stuff done without getting fried.\u00a0 I took a few pictures this morning.\u00a0 The deer have eaten most of the daylily buds but with a little luck I\u2019ll get a few to shoot.\u00a0 The blueberry bushes are very full of fruit.\u00a0 Maybe I\u2019ll get a few pints of them.<\/p>\n
Camera Girl will soon provide me with my list of chores for the upcoming parties.\u00a0 And that\u2019s okay.\u00a0 I like playing the host.\u00a0 The summer is going well.\u00a0 I\u2019ll try to enjoy all the things that there are to do.\u00a0 Even in Stalinist Russia people still tried to enjoy life right up until the KGB knocked down your door and dragged you off to the interrogation cell.<\/p>\n
Which is worse, living as an outcast, a third-class citizen in your own country or being a stranger in a strange land?\u00a0 I guess that\u2019s the choice I\u2019m struggling with.\u00a0 In a way it feels like I\u2019m already living in a foreign land.\u00a0 All of the customs and familiar parts of life are being torn down and reviled.\u00a0 The people in charge are strange creepy weirdos and criminals.\u00a0 Could it be any worse in Argentina or Singapore or Hungary?\u00a0 I wonder.<\/p>\n
