Back in 2009 when attempts were underway to extradite Roman Polansky to the US to try him for the rape of a 13-year-old girl, Harvey Weinstein defended the morality of Hollywood\u2019s support of Polansky with the following quote “Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.”\u00a0 Well, it starts to make sense that Weinstein has compassion for a rapist.\u00a0 I guess he\u2019s hoping the favor will be returned by his community.\u00a0 I don\u2019t mean the community of rapists.\u00a0 That\u2019s too small a group to help him.\u00a0 I think he\u2019s hoping the Hollywood community will show him compassion.\u00a0 But it doesn\u2019t look like he\u2019s going to get a pass.\u00a0 A whole troop of former ingenues and struggling starlets are coming forward with staggering tales of a disgusting pig trading on his influence in a seedy industry to pressure young women into having sex with him.\u00a0 Now the fact that Harvey is a repulsively fat and ugly creature only makes the act grotesque.\u00a0 But even if he looked like Brad Pitt the cruelty and immorality of what he did is undeniable.\u00a0 So, he\u2019s going to be roasted over the coals.\u00a0 And based on the latest reports he may also be liable for criminal charges.\u00a0 Apparently three women are now claiming actual rape.\u00a0 You know Whoopi?\u00a0 Rape, rape?<\/p>\n
Poor Harvey, things aren\u2019t looking so good.\u00a0 All his friends have deserted him.\u00a0 What\u2019s a rapist to do?\u00a0 Where is his Polansky exception?\u00a0 After all he\u2019s a rich liberal donor.\u00a0 Where\u2019s the gratitude?\u00a0 Where are the Clintons and Obamas when they\u2019re needed?\u00a0 People are saying it\u2019s because times are changing and women won\u2019t put up with abuse anymore.<\/p>\n
Maybe.<\/p>\n
But maybe it\u2019s just Hollywood deciding that Harvey\u2019s power and influence is slipping.\u00a0 Maybe this is payback from some other power broker that Harvey rubbed the wrong way.\u00a0 Maybe even the Clintons.\u00a0 I read that the Clintons didn\u2019t think Harvey was supportive enough.\u00a0 Maybe this is more Arkansas Revenge.\u00a0 Considering Bill\u2019s proclivities, it would be ironic indeed if it came from him.\u00a0 But regardless of the actual cause of the downfall the real question is where was the compassion for his victims?<\/p>\n
Meryl Streep was a great friend of Harvey Weinstein.\u00a0 She worked with him and gushed about his abilities.\u00a0 But she still maintains that she knew nothing of his casting couch.\u00a0 Apparently, she\u2019s the only one in Hollywood who didn\u2019t.\u00a0 Unless she\u2019s a moron, she\u2019s lying.\u00a0 And as much as I\u2019d love to call her a moron I\u2019m gonna have to go with liar.\u00a0 And so, the question is, where was Meryl\u2019s compassion for his victims?<\/p>\n
And how about all the other actors and actresses and other studio types who helped Harvey procure his victims or else just kept quiet about their existence?\u00a0 Where was all this great compassion?\u00a0 What about the much-vaunted moral compass?\u00a0 Did it merely point to fortune and fame?\u00a0 These are the people who go on endlessly about gay rights and trans-rights and animal rights and veganism and climate change. \u00a0And these are the people who went insane because a woman didn\u2019t get to be President of the United States.\u00a0 And these are the people who marched through the streets with stupid pink hats on because a rich guy admitted \u201coff the record\u201d the deep dark secret that some women are greedy enough to let a lout have his way with them just because he\u2019s rich.<\/p>\n
Well, doesn\u2019t that make them hypocrites and cowards?\u00a0 If they really care about women\u2019s welfare so highly then aren\u2019t they therefore nothing but greedy cowards if they put their own monetary considerations ahead of these young people being victimized?\u00a0 Seems so to me.\u00a0 Sorry Meryl.\u00a0 You stand convicted of being a greedy coward.\u00a0 The only compassion you had was for yourself.\u00a0 Same as Harvey.\u00a0 Same as Polansky.\u00a0 So maybe the Polansky defenders can explain why they have compassion for their sister actresses now finally after all these years of Weinstein\u2019s harassment but not before.\u00a0 And maybe they can explain why they still have no compassion for the 13-year-old girl that was abused all those years ago.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t she a woman too?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
