It\u2019s been busy over here at the Compound.\u00a0 We had the family together for a kid\u2019s birthday party last night and all that entails.\u00a0 It was a lively gathering featuring fake fossil dinosaur egg dissecting, laser tag, billiards and the traditional American pinata event.\u00a0 I attempted to educate some of my descendants on the finer points of using a pool cue but the new method they adhered to involves holding it sort of like a javelin.\u00a0 But they managed to have fun despite my pedagogic shortcomings.\u00a0 It was nice to see this new generation of cousins making their own fun without the necessity of staring at a phone screen or drowning out their surroundings with some insipid music.\u00a0 There\u2019s still some hope for the future.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been glad to see that some of the folks on the site have contributed posts.\u00a0 Just lately Neil and Tom and Jason and Chemist and the Fat Man have provided excellent content which I\u2019m always in need of.\u00a0 I\u2019ll take this opportunity to repeat that any of the readers out there that has something he\u2019d like to share should leave a comment or send me an e-mail to orionscoldfire@charterdotnet and let me know.\u00a0 And it doesn\u2019t have to have anything to do with politics.\u00a0 Book, music and movie reviews are excellent topics. \u00a0Chances are it\u2019ll fit right in with the spirit of how I run things and will add that much more interest to the site.\u00a0 After all, even I get tired of listening to my fascinating words sometime.<\/p>\n
Now that the Democrats were panicked by the 2021 elections into forcing the infrastructure bill through ahead of the \u201creconciliation\u201d bill without the help of the \u201cSquad,\u201d I expect the pollsters to start claiming that now Joe Biden is incredibly popular again.\u00a0 But let\u2019s face it, gas is approaching $4 a gallon, food is outrageously expensive, people can\u2019t buy the necessities they need and Christmas presents won\u2019t be available for the holiday.\u00a0 With all that and the vaccine mandates how could Dementia Joe not be an awfully popular guy?<\/p>\n
Probably passing the infrastructure bill will remove the last bit of leverage that the Democrats have over Manchin.\u00a0 Despite my earlier pessimism about it I now expect the reconciliation bill to die a merciful death over the Christmas recess and in January all those reps and senators will be trying to get reelected.\u00a0 So that may be the end of Biden\u2019s bill signing career.\u00a0 I can hardly believe our luck.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ll have to say, the Democrat\u2019s taking it on the chin in the elections and backing down from the reconciliation stance they took has cheered me up a lot more than I imagined it would.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s the holidays coming up and the death of the COVID panic that has me so happy.\u00a0 But for whatever reason I just don\u2019t seem as willing to spread the doom and gloom right now.\u00a0 So, you\u2019ll have to forgive me if I\u2019m unpleasantly cheerful.\u00a0 Expect to see more movie and book reviews coming up.\u00a0 I\u2019m in the mood to write some stuff more interesting than the depressing politics we\u2019re surrounded by.\u00a0 And I\u2019ll continue my death march through season three of Star Trek.\u00a0 Enjoy your Sunday.<\/p>\n
