So I was reading a recent blogpost at the Zman called the Deadend Men. The gist of the idea was that the Never Trumpers over at National Review (NR) were digging in their heels and trying to preserve something that didn\u2019t exist anymore.\u00a0 Zman felt that the NR crew thought that they could bring back 1985 by pushing the globalist New World Order of the Bushes.\u00a0 His point was that this whole mindset no longer related to the right-wing.\u00a0 That it had failed to conserve anything and in fact basically played right into the Left\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n
Zman describes himself as part of the dissident right. This seems to be another name for the Alt-Right.\u00a0 And then I was looking through the comments and saw people arguing about what flavor of conservative, nationalist, libertarian, or reactionary they were.\u00a0 And it got me thinking.\u00a0 What the hell am I?\u00a0 I really wasn\u2019t sure.\u00a0 I seem to be defined as much by what I\u2019m against as by what I\u2019m for.\u00a0 I\u2019m for the American values that existed when I was born in the nineteen fifties.\u00a0 I\u2019m against all the stuff that has ground us down.\u00a0 I\u2019ll call myself an American Traditionalist.\u00a0 Basically anything that was coined after that time was done badly.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe in affirmative action of any stripe.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have guilt for being American or white or male or normal.\u00a0 I think we should decide who comes into this country and how many.\u00a0 And I think anyone who gets to become an American is beholden to learn our language, customs and laws, become an American and bring his children up as unhyphenated Americans.\u00a0 And if you don\u2019t want to do any of those things then go away.\u00a0 I think this is the greatest country ever created and we should do everything in our power to keep it that way.\u00a0 I think the government should serve us and if the IRS or the FBI or anyone else start coming after decent honest people they should be defanged and neutered.\u00a0 That\u2019s who I am.<\/p>\n
And that got me thinking.
