Life is good today.\u00a0 It rained hard last night and now it’s a bright sunny day.\u00a0 Now that’s the way to arrange the weather!\u00a0 My thanks to the Man Upstairs for this indulgence.<\/p>\n

A beautiful day for a walk in the woods.\u00a0 A good telecon with a business consultant.\u00a0 Useful actionable advice.\u00a0 Progress on all fronts of the business effort.\u00a0 No new roadblocks appearing.\u00a0 Domestic tranquility continues.\u00a0 Plans for the summer Yellowstone trip coalescing nicely\u00a0 Some books and movies to finish up for reviews. Projects around the house and yard coming along fine.\u00a0 What can I say?\u00a0 Life is good today.<\/p>\n

Of course, in the larger world, that sleazy dopey wrecker in the White House continues to dismantle the United States of America with alarming speed.\u00a0 The economy continues to shake itself to pieces with costs soaring into the stratosphere and staple supplies disappearing from store shelves on a random basis.\u00a0 Disorder stalks the metropolitan areas and international relations are becoming strained even among supposed allies.<\/p>\n

But today is Good Friday.\u00a0 For Christians a time to reflect on the things that are most important in life.\u00a0 Most fundamentally, on our families and friends.\u00a0 Jesus spoke mostly of love.\u00a0 Right now it is paramount that we love and protect those we care about.\u00a0 Protect them from the coming storms.<\/p>\n

But right at this moment we can also share some happy moments with them.\u00a0 Sunday we’re getting together at the house of one of my daughters.\u00a0 All of my grandchildren will be there and all but one of my children.\u00a0 We’ll eat way too much fattening food and I hope we’ll have a chance to throw a baseball around.\u00a0 But the forecast isn’t promising.\u00a0 Cold and wet is the forecast.<\/p>\n

But that matters not at all.\u00a0 We’ll talk about what the kids are up to and applaud their sports victories and condole the losses.\u00a0 We’ll talk about upcoming college admission.\u00a0 We’ll talk about vacation plans and trips on the new boat that’s in the driveway.\u00a0 and there will be talk about dinosaurs with my youngest grandson who is a connoisseur of all things saurian.<\/p>\n

And I know Camera Girl is going to bake a ricotta cheesecake for the holiday and that is one of my favorites.\u00a0 And even though I’ve switched from coffee to tea this year I will indulge in some good coffee for the occasion.\u00a0 And I intend to revel in the chaos of five grandchildren playing (and fighting) all around me.\u00a0 And I intend to participate in the games of whatever variety they choose.\u00a0 Last time we got together they had me try out an virtual reality contraption called an Occulus.\u00a0 I bought this for them a couple of years ago and I was surprised at just how realistic the illusion it produces is.<\/p>\n

It’s funny how these holidays provide so much continuity in our lives.\u00a0 It’s comforting to have these rituals to ground us and those we love in a familiar pattern.\u00a0 And for me Easter is a pivotal point in the year.\u00a0 Long New England winters finally release the landscape around Easter and people can go outside and breath a little fresh air.\u00a0 It’s the beginning of outdoor life.<\/p>\n

Everyone enjoy the day especially those who are religious.\u00a0 And get a little air and sun if it’s around.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
