I was out of pocket today.\u00a0 AWOL, off the reservation, footloose and fancy free.\u00a0 I was communing, consorting and other wise hobnobbing with my fellow wizards.\u00a0 We went to this car show in a very ritzy town.\u00a0 The cars were parked up and down two sides of the street in this town.\u00a0 Hundreds of them.\u00a0 It had a lot of extremely expensive cars.\u00a0 Ferraris, Jaguars, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Bentleys and even less familiar luxury cars.\u00a0 There were also some antique cars from the 30\u2019s like Packards and some very cool old Fords.\u00a0 And some high-performance cars from the 60\u2019s; Stingrays and such.\u00a0 I walked for hours and took a million pictures.<\/p>\n
Then we got back to our host\u2019s home and his gracious wife feasted us on an Italian meal.\u00a0 It was one delicacy after another ending off with some delicious pastries.\u00a0 And in between we talked politics.\u00a0 There were two camps of thought.\u00a0 One group said that DeSantis should be president.\u00a0 The other said we need Trump.\u00a0 I\u2019m a big fan of DeSantis\u2019s but I was in the second camp.\u00a0 One of the attendants mirrored my thinking.\u00a0 He said we need Trump because he motivates the Deplorables.\u00a0 And he knows how to avoid being played by the Left.\u00a0 He also pummels the Establishment Republicans when they get in the way.<\/p>\n
The DeSantis camp basically are afraid that Trump will lose by scaring off moderates.\u00a0 I clarified by saying they\u2019re afraid he\u2019ll scare off women.\u00a0 I contended that Trump irks women.\u00a0 And one of the wives who was present confirmed this assertion.\u00a0 She said, \u201cThat\u2019s right, he irks me and I think he irks a lot of women.\u201d<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s a basic truth about Donald Trump.\u00a0 He irks women.\u00a0 He irks some other people too but the fact that he irks women is diagnostic.\u00a0 Trump irks women because he says rude things, mean things, cruel things.\u00a0 But many of the cruel things he says are true.\u00a0 As a rule, women are more social than men.\u00a0 They pay more attention to the impact on other people\u2019s emotions of the things they say.\u00a0 Women are more polite, more diplomatic.\u00a0 They are the opposite of Donald Trump.\u00a0 Trump says things to get a reaction.\u00a0 Insulting his enemies and even his \u201callies\u201d that aren\u2019t aligned with his goals is a minute-to-minute calculation.\u00a0 He is always saying \u201cmean things\u201d on Twitter.<\/p>\n
But we need that.\u00a0 Badly.\u00a0 I tried to make the point that we need Trump to win in 2024.\u00a0 We also need DeSantis to be his Vice President, almost his Co-President.\u00a0 And I think Trump actually needs DeSantis more than DeSantis needs him.\u00a0 We need someone who can drain the swamp.\u00a0 Donald Trump tried in 2017 \u2013 2021 and completely failed.\u00a0 Maybe Pence was part of the reason for that failure.\u00a0 Maybe this time DeSantis can be the surgeon Trump needs to lobotomize the Deep State.<\/p>\n
At least that\u2019s my read on what is needed.\u00a0 Trump knows the policies he wants but he needs someone who can translate that agenda into an assault on the insurrectionist agencies of the Executive Branch in order to make those policies happen.<\/p>\n
Was I able to change any minds?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know but I made my case and I could see some of the reasons why Trump has so many detractors on the Right.\u00a0 Americans, and American women especially are polite, friendly people.\u00a0 They don\u2019t want to be attacked, especially not by friends.\u00a0 But what it is time to do is to point out to these people that sometimes the truth is cruel and hurts some people.\u00a0 And that the truth is its own defense.\u00a0 Ignoring or denying the truth because it is ugly, hurtful or cruel isn\u2019t going to make it go away.<\/p>\n
The Democrats won\u2019t be able to ignore or deny the truth of what they have done to this country.\u00a0 And just because it is Donald Trump who will be pointing these things out in his own inimitable and caustic way won\u2019t allow them to ignore what is being said.\u00a0 It\u2019s just too ugly for politeness to bandage over.<\/p>\n
In 2024 Trump will be the bitter medicine for those who voted for Biden in 2020.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s any sugar that can make it easier to swallow.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
