{"id":19438,"date":"2022-06-21T19:43:47","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T23:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=19438"},"modified":"2022-06-21T19:46:42","modified_gmt":"2022-06-21T23:46:42","slug":"even-progressives-admit-that-blue-cities-are-awash-in-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/21\/even-progressives-admit-that-blue-cities-are-awash-in-crime\/","title":{"rendered":"Even Progressives Admit that Blue Cities Are Awash in Crime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The writer is an avowed liberal and he puts in all the qualifiers to show his bona fides as a bleeding heart liberal.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/opinion\/the-liberals-who-wont-acknowledge-the-crime-problem\/ar-AAYHawV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">But after all the hemming and hawing he has to admit that the blue cities are experiencing enormous spikes of murders, assaults and theft<\/a>.\u00a0 The old saying was that a conservative is liberal who&#8217;s been mugged.\u00a0 Maybe this guy got mugged.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe he&#8217;s trying to wake up the Dems before the Red Wave sweeps them away in November.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my favorite quote,<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;}\"><strong>&#8220;The aforementioned <em>Times\u00a0<\/em>article on Boudin\u2019s tenure as San Francisco\u2019s chief prosecutor\u00a0states\u00a0that \u201cthere is no compelling evidence that Mr. Boudin\u2019s policies have made crime significantly worse in San Francisco. Overall crime in San Francisco has changed little since Mr. Boudin took office in early 2020.\u201d Yet, just a few paragraphs later, the same article says that \u201cburglaries, especially in wealthier neighborhoods, have soared during the pandemic. The city recorded 7,575 burglaries in 2020 and 7,217 last year, a sharp increase of more than 45 percent from 2019.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;}\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>If an increase of more than 45 percent in burglaries does not qualify as significant, then what would be?&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;}\">So the New York Times thinks a 45% increase in burglaries is a minor increase.<\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;}\">And how about this article in the Guardian about murder in Philadelphia,<\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{&quot;n&quot;:&quot;blueLinks&quot;}\"><strong>&#8220;In the same article, the <em>Guardian<\/em>\u00a0writers did acknowledge that in 2020 Philadelphia \u201creturned close to [its] historic highs for the number of people killed in a single year.\u201d (It\u00a0surpassed that high the following year.)
