Day after day of bright sunny weather has spoiled me.\u00a0 I\u2019m now hopelessly cheerful which is disastrous for a conservative blogger in Creepy Uncle Joe\u2019s America.\u00a0 Whereas I should be railing against runaway inflation and fascistic FBI activities, I\u2019m too happy.\u00a0 Whenever I get bored in the house I go outside into the blinding light and I feel my batteries recharging.\u00a0 This Saturday is the last big summer party of the season and I\u2019m anticipating the fun of seeing all the kids one more time before they have to start school again.\u00a0 Burgers and dogs, sausage and peppers, potato salad and watermelon, lemonade and ice cream, and ricotta cheese cake.\u00a0 Just a great way to end a nice hot summer.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been watching good movies and eating good food for the last couple of days.\u00a0 Brando in Julius Caesar, Mutiny on the Bounty, A Streetcar Named Desire.\u00a0 Chicken chop suey and homemade chicken pot pie.\u00a0 Even watching that goofy Wolf Man movie the other day was a summer indulgence.\u00a0 The end of summer edges us closer to the next milestone of the calendar, Halloween.\u00a0 And that means classic monster movies and not so classic horror movies.\u00a0 And that spells shorter days and the first nip of frost in the air.<\/p>\n

Last night it was fifty degrees.\u00a0 The cooling trend is there.\u00a0 Backsliding into the mid-eighties is predicted for next Thursday and onward but the writing is on the wall.\u00a0 Soon the air conditioners will be put away for another year.\u00a0 Lemonade will be off the menu and hot coffee back on.\u00a0 Watermelon will give way to apples and hot soup will reassert itself in the weekly menus that Camera Girl will present me with.\u00a0 And all of this should make me SAD (seasonal affective disorder) but somehow, it\u2019s just too bright and sunny to work the trick.\u00a0 Maybe September will work its melancholy magic on me.\u00a0 But until Labor Day rings the bell on summer I can\u2019t seem to believe in winter just yet.<\/p>\n

Looking a little ahead we have \u201cLiz Cheney Appreciation Day\u201d coming up on Tuesday.\u00a0 That\u2019s gonna be a humdinger.\u00a0 I have to see what special celebration I\u2019ll select for that.\u00a0 I\u2019ll try to capture my joy in a special schadenfreudian post that sings the praises of representative democracy when it actually works.\u00a0 Also, Camera Girl has promised to bake me a huckleberry pie from real Montana huckleberries.\u00a0 Wednesday, I meet with the Dunwich Committee to Re-elect Cthulhu.\u00a0 Thursday and Friday I\u2019ll have my chores in support of Saturday\u2019s party and Sunday will be the cleanup.\u00a0 By next Monday I\u2019ll try to develop some post-summer let-down.\u00a0 That will stand me in good stead when trying to summon the gloom and doom needed to opine about the current state of this fallen republic.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure by then Biden or one of the other odious carbuncles that supposedly run this country will have offended the public decency with various high crimes and misdemeanors.\u00a0 By then I\u2019ll have built up a level of bile sufficient to vent my spleen at these toads.<\/p>\n

But until then I\u2019m just too darn merry to groan.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got thousands of Yellowstone photos to review and process.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got a load of bug photos from around the grounds and I\u2019ve got repair projects to address.\u00a0 So, pardon me if I whistle a happy tune and luxuriate in the season.\u00a0 Misery is sure to have its day soon.\u00a0 La dolce vita.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
