Today was a busy day.\u00a0 Lots of chores around the house and yard.\u00a0 And then in the afternoon Camera Girl broke the news that the kitchen sink drain was completely clogged.\u00a0 So, out come the monkey wrenches and plungers and the fun begins.\u00a0 The trap was clear so I went looking for the snake to send down the drain line.\u00a0 But it was gone.\u00a0 There is no more annoying experience for a man than to have one of his tools turn up missing when he needs it.\u00a0 But who could I blame?\u00a0 I wanted to blame Camera Girl.\u00a0 After all she is my go-to.\u00a0 But unfortunately, I knew in my heart it must have been me.\u00a0 I was trying to remember when I had thrown out any boxes without looking at them during the move ten years ago.\u00a0 I vaguely remember thinking that whatever was in a certain beat-up box was useless old hardware that I no longer needed.\u00a0 I think I told myself it was some scrap from a project.\u00a0 Some conduit that I didn\u2019t want to part with at the time but had never found a use for.\u00a0 Looking back, it was just part of the dumpster mania that happens when you\u2019ve been in a house for twenty-five years and then you have to empty it.\u00a0 At a certain point you\u2019re tempted to throw anything out, even the dogs, just to end the packing.<\/p>\n
So, I took a piece of coaxial cable that was lying around and tried to snake the line with that.\u00a0 No luck.\u00a0 Then I reassembled the drain line and dutifully plunged it for almost half an hour with no result.\u00a0 Tomorrow I\u2019ll go out and buy an auger and clear the line.\u00a0 I\u2019d do it today but the roads are clogged with people going to the various Labor Day fairs and carnivals that break out at this time of year.\u00a0 We\u2019ll go early and pick it up and then head out to an orchard for some photography.\u00a0 Then we\u2019ll return by a roundabout route and I\u2019ll spend an hour or so removing glop from that sink drain line.<\/p>\n
I think I\u2019ll blame Joe Biden for the clogged line.\u00a0 The crud in that pipe is somewhat reminiscent of the gunk that must exist between his ears.\u00a0 There must be a sympathetic magic that exists between the crap he was spewing the other day and all the noisome disgusting bilge that infects the waste lines of the world.\u00a0 Joe himself is like a waste clog that has fouled up this country.\u00a0 All the normal processes that need to happen to keep our country functioning have been obstructed by the presence of this human hairball.\u00a0 He\u2019s gummed up the works and America is stuck with a mess and no easy way to clean it up.\u00a0 Well, I\u2019ve stretched that metaphor way past its limit.\u00a0 And it\u2019s a mixed metaphor.\u00a0 Joe is more akin to a backed-up toilet than sink because he\u2019s really a lying sack of crap.\u00a0 But I\u2019ll move on.<\/p>\n
It’s sixty some-odd days until the election.\u00a0 I think we\u2019ll learn very important things afterward.\u00a0 And at this point I\u2019m not even nervous.\u00a0 I\u2019m prepared to accept either eventuality.\u00a0 If we win, great.\u00a0 If we lose, I\u2019ll move on.\u00a0 If we lose that means I am responsible for steering my life in a permanently hostile political environment.\u00a0 No more pretending we can vote our way out of this.\u00a0 I can assume that the US federal government will always be trying to deprive me of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.\u00a0 And I will be avidly weighing my options in finding the optimal way to avoid its efforts.<\/p>\n
Even though the dish washer is unusable Camera Girl decided to use some real china and silverware to have a nice dinner.\u00a0 It was ribeye steaks with big baked potatoes smothered in butter. \u00a0It adds to the mess in the kitchen but her instincts were correct.\u00a0 That dinner, followed by a showing of John Huston\u2019s \u201cAfrican Queen,\u201d was a good remedy to a frustrating afternoon of plumbing failures.\u00a0 And tomorrow I\u2019ll gather my supplies and set things straight in Camera Girl\u2019s kitchen and all will be right with the world again.\u00a0 If only Joe Biden could be as easily flushed down the drain.\u00a0 But he\u2019s a much bigger hairball.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
