You may have noticed I haven\u2019t had many political posts in the last few days.\u00a0 I scan the headlines every day.\u00a0 After all, railing against the outrage of the day is sort of my schtick.\u00a0 But for the last few days all I see is \u201csame old, same old.\u201d\u00a0 The FBI raids Trump associates.\u00a0 Political polls from Left and Right claim advantage for their side in the mid-terms.\u00a0 Economic indicators and business events reinforce that we\u2019re in a recession and statements from politicians on both sides confirm that we hate each other\u2019s guts.\u00a0 You, see?\u00a0 Same old, same old.<\/p>\n
There have been some stories about CNN firing some frothing at the mouth Trump-haters.\u00a0 That I consider newsworthy.\u00a0 That\u2019s something different going on.\u00a0 So that\u2019s an example of the kind of thing I\u2019m looking for. \u00a0New developments.\u00a0 News!\u00a0 When I see a story about someone on the Left waking up to the anti-freedom excesses of the current regime, I think that is newsworthy.\u00a0 Anytime I see some establishment type waking up to the reality of what our government has become that\u2019s sort of newsworthy.<\/p>\n
But outrage for the sake of having something to say is becoming boring and even painful to write.\u00a0 We all know it\u2019s bad.\u00a0 Only the brain dead could miss the fact that things are awful.\u00a0 Only the hopelessly clueless don\u2019t see where the awfulness emanates from.\u00a0 Only a Democrat flak can listen to a Joe Biden speech and pretend that what he is saying resembles reality.<\/p>\n
But what I write has to have some freshness, some life to it.\u00a0 Even for me it can\u2019t just reiterate the same old thing.\u00a0 So, you may see some days when my post will be a review of a movie or a book.\u00a0 Or it may be about something else I\u2019m interested in like photography or beekeeping or some aspect of science and technology.<\/p>\n
And this is all to the good.\u00a0 Just banging the same old drum doesn\u2019t really accomplish anything except wear out the reader\u2019s patience.\u00a0 There are always plenty of things going on in the world and there are even the beginnings of alternative cultural and social organizations doing things in the world.\u00a0 These will give us things to talk about.<\/p>\n
So don\u2019t be alarmed if I haven\u2019t ranted in a week or so.\u00a0 It\u2019s simply that there\u2019s nothing new worth saying about life in Oceania.\u00a0 I can\u2019t record every last word and deed of Big Brother.\u00a0 I may have to say I love him but I can\u2019t claim he isn\u2019t boring as all hell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
