What to write about tonight?\u00a0 Today was a day for chores.\u00a0 One was my semi-annual trip to the dental hygienist.\u00a0 Such a strange thing we have to do.\u00a0 Twice a year someone has to torture you with dental tools while trying to make small talk with someone who can\u2019t speak.\u00a0 You know it\u2019s an interesting thing.\u00a0 Someone who\u2019s good at that must be a gifted person.\u00a0 My hygienist only sees me twice a year but somehow manages to continue the conversation from where it left off six months earlier.\u00a0 Quite the trick.\u00a0 Either she has an incredible memory or she takes notes.\u00a0 Either way it\u2019s kind of remarkable.\u00a0 And it\u2019s funny.\u00a0 This time she told me that my teeth and gums looked better than usual.\u00a0 For some reason this slight praise filled me with a sense of accomplishment.\u00a0 I was now some kind of flossing ninja!<\/p>\n
Anyway, when I got back home with my slightly whiter teeth and my \u201cfree\u201d new toothbrush I read through the news articles and I even commented on the OPEC move to screw Joe Biden to the wall.\u00a0 And that was fun.\u00a0 But nothing struck me as the nucleus of a post.<\/p>\n
So, I watched an old movie that I recently bought.\u00a0 I got it used at a library sale.\u00a0 I\u2019d never consider buying it new because it\u2019s not that good.\u00a0 It\u2019s \u201cConstantine\u201d with Keanu Reeves as a freelance exorcist who battles demons while smoking a lot of cigarettes.\u00a0 It\u2019s really a goofy concept.\u00a0 Constantine has a gift that allows him to see demons.\u00a0 But he is damned to Hell for a suicide attempt he sort of succeeded at when he was a boy.\u00a0 He was \u201cdead for two minutes.\u201d\u00a0 During those two minutes he experienced a lifetime of torment in Hell before the doctors revived him.\u00a0 In this movie he is battling semi-demons, a renegade angel and lung cancer.\u00a0 As I said it\u2019s a goofy movie but every three years or so I seem to watch it again.\u00a0 Another problem with the movie is it costars Shia LaBeouf.\u00a0 Well, what can you do?\u00a0 But it was a good way to stop thinking about Joe Biden for an hour or two.<\/p>\n
Camera Girl put together a nice manicotti and meat ball dinner for us.\u00a0 Now that\u2019s comfort food.\u00a0 So, I complemented her on this delicious meal and then she told me that the cost for the meal had doubled in a little over a month.\u00a0 She said, for instance, that ricotta cheese went from $3.50 for a container to $7.00.\u00a0 Being the frugal and practical shopper, this kind of thing strikes her as madness.\u00a0 I started to explain to her how energy costs associated with the green new deal cascaded through the economy and caused multiple increases in the costs of food because of transportation, refrigeration, fertilizer and of course the ever-popular supply chain problems.\u00a0 She gave me a look as if I had blamed it on the demons from the Constantine movie.\u00a0 So, I stopped beating that drum and told her we\u2019d find a way to save money by eliminating something \u201cscholastic.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s the word she uses for anything that she deems pseudo-intellectual.\u00a0 Which covers anything that I am interested in that she is not.<\/p>\n
But there was Joe Biden again.\u00a0 Annoying my wife by sabotaging the economy.\u00a0 This monster had doubled the price of ricotta cheese in a single month.\u00a0 Looking back at the logic of the Constantine movie I decided that for this monstrous act Creepy Uncle Joe should be consigned to one of the worst circles of Hell, possibly the one where an arch-demon gets to clean the teeth of the damned with a pickaxe for all eternity and where they\u2019ve completely run out of free toothbrushes.\u00a0 I started to wonder if Joe\u2019s fake teeth would be more or less sensitive to pain.\u00a0 But then I remembered that arch-demons really know their stuff so he would be in for it either way.\u00a0 So, I felt a little better.<\/p>\n
You know all the little problems that come out of the sabotage of the economy seem trivial compared with crime waves, nuclear war and the sexual mutilation of children.\u00a0 But those little things add up to something important.\u00a0 The United States was called the land of opportunity because a good chunk of its citizens, the middle class, was prosperous. \u00a0They weren\u2019t rich but they weren\u2019t poor.\u00a0 They couldn\u2019t buy a new car every three years but they always could go out when they felt like it to a burger joint or a Chinese restaurant and enjoy a good meal to give everybody in the family a boost.\u00a0 Not since the days of Jimmy Carter have we been worried about having enough money to pay for the groceries and the mortgage.\u00a0 Now we do.<\/p>\n
And so, if I was going to consign Joe Biden to Hell for his crimes, I wouldn\u2019t leave out this charge.\u00a0 Because along with everything else he\u2019s done he\u2019s killed the natural cheerfulness of the American people. \u00a0That\u2019s a pretty monstrous thing.<\/p>\n
Well, that\u2019s what I\u2019ve come up with.\u00a0 It seems a bit random but life is a stew.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
