So, I had my little outburst the other day<\/a>.\u00a0 And I guess it was cathartic because I feel better, cheerful even.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s good to be able to resolve a dilemma.\u00a0 Two years is a long time to wait for clarity.\u00a0 Good.<\/p>\n

As I said, I\u2019ll almost be disappointed if there is a red wave.\u00a0 Having to worry about all the subsequent actions and the vicissitudes of political war is exhausting and when your team is the Stupid Party it can be maddening.<\/p>\n

So, let\u2019s not go there today.\u00a0 Let me think about the other outcome.\u00a0 Suppose on Wednesday I wake up and the Democrats still control the Senate.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s still 50\/50 or maybe they\u2019ve padded their lead.\u00a0 What does my world look like?\u00a0 What is my mission?<\/p>\n

Well, remarkably little will change right away.\u00a0 I guess the first fruits will be a long post on the reality of living in post-America.\u00a0 Hopefully I won\u2019t make it too morose or vitriolic.\u00a0 But it will certainly be an acknowledgement of the position of the Dissident Right\u2019s motto, \u201cWe\u2019re not going to vote our way out of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that I will take some time and try to formulate my own agenda in this \u201cbrave new world\u201d of post-republican American life.\u00a0 Right now, I don\u2019t know many details but I have a sense that mostly it will be making as many separate connections with like-minded individuals and organizations as I can and try to support all the things that used to be the business of our society to support.\u00a0 I think I\u2019ll change my writing schedule to provide much more time for fiction writing.\u00a0 Conservatives are grossly underrepresented in the arts and producing works that reflect our values and sensibilities might be good for morale.<\/p>\n

Beyond that I\u2019ll be making a minor foray into local government.\u00a0 It won\u2019t be much but it\u2019ll keep me involved with my neighbors.\u00a0 Beyond that I intend to see if I can find some like-minded people to form a social club.\u00a0 Currently I\u2019m thinking it could involve a rotating weekly poker game.\u00a0 But we\u2019ll see.\u00a0 Billiards is also possible.<\/p>\n

So, you see, it\u2019s actually not so bad being a man without a country.\u00a0 First off, you\u2019re no longer responsible for justifying the bone-headed actions of the government to foreigners.\u00a0 And if you happen to live in a deep blue state, you can pick and choose which individuals and groups you consider your community.\u00a0 So, if Barack Obama says that doing something is \u201cnot who we are,\u201d your answer would be, \u201cWhat \u201cwe\u201d are you referring to?\u201d<\/p>\n

One other thing that will change will be the contents of my posts.\u00a0 All of the uncertainty and speculation on the political happenings of the day will sort of fade away.\u00a0 I\u2019ll restrict myself to practical considerations like how to avoid the real-world problems faced by people like me living in a dystopia.\u00a0 No more discussions about Washington politics unless they have a direct bearing on day-to-day life.\u00a0 Probably more attention paid to what is going on in the red states and whether any progress is being made to resist the feds encroachment of their sovereignty.<\/p>\n

So, this is the first step at figuring out what comes after a November fail.\u00a0 Maybe we\u2019ll get lucky and it\u2019ll go our way.\u00a0 But if it doesn\u2019t Plan B exists.\u00a0 And right now, that\u2019s good enough for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
