Sunday, the day of rest.\u00a0 A good day to regroup and sets things in order for the upcoming week.\u00a0 Especially this week.\u00a0 Had a blast with the old grandsons yesterday.\u00a0 Fun outing, good food.\u00a0 Got home and skipped dinner.\u00a0 Skipped all food and drink and maybe that was a mistake.\u00a0 I was still recovering from that virus that was in the house the last couple of weeks.\u00a0 But I figured I could skip the cold meds.\u00a0 Big mistake!\u00a0 Woke up at 4:30 am with a splitting sinus headache.\u00a0 So, I beat a hasty retreat to the cold medicine and then sat up for a half hour to let it knock down my sinus inflammation.<\/p>\n
But today I\u2019m definitely on the mend.\u00a0 So, I spent time working on minutia.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been using the Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse as my pointing device for the last six or so years.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great device in most ways.\u00a0 But unfortunately, the switches for the left and right click buttons give out after a couple of years.\u00a0 So now I have three of these things that double click when they shouldn\u2019t.\u00a0 I finally looked into the problem and found a YouTube video that shows how to replace the microswitches and eliminate the problem.\u00a0 Now I\u2019ll have to buy a soldering iron and some other bits of gear and become a technician.\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s kind of fun.\u00a0 Plus, I\u2019ll fix the other two mice and become mouse anti-fragile for the foreseeable future.\u00a0 Yeah me.<\/p>\n
The other thing today was about was to delve into vector analysis.\u00a0 I never had the time back in the day to play around with the more advanced theorems to get a solid handle on the tensor notation.\u00a0 In the past I\u2019ve been exposed (as if to a disease) to Del Notation, Dyadics, the Laplacian and equally complex concepts.\u00a0 The Kronecker delta and how to expand the determinant was something I had to memorize in order to solve some problems in physics.\u00a0 But if I\u2019m being honest there was very little comprehension on my part at the time as to how these manipulations made sense.\u00a0 Now I\u2019ve got some time I think I\u2019ll take another whack at it.\u00a0 The question as to whether I still have sufficient brain cells to thread my way around it and whether those brain cells can retain it remains to be seen.\u00a0 But it might be fun.<\/p>\n
So, amid my other occupations I\u2019ve added electronic technician and math student.\u00a0 That should make Thanksgiving week an interesting time.\u00a0 Maybe I\u2019ll buy the microswitches and soldering iron on Black Friday and get some huge discount.\u00a0 I\u2019ll probably also have to buy some kind of giant magnifying glass on a flexible arm just to see the attachment points for the switches.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pity I can\u2019t purchase new eyes too.\u00a0 But once again, the future we were promised all those years ago before Blade Runner hasn\u2019t quite materialized yet.\u00a0 Well, no need to get all whiny about it.\u00a0 Magnifying glass works too.<\/p>\n
So here we go into Thanksgiving Week.\u00a0 Turkey, gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie, old movies and family.\u00a0 What\u2019s better than that?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
