When Scrooge awakens and embraces his new life we feel the electric thrill he feels at everything around him.\u00a0 He rediscovers life and the joy it contains.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s to-day!\u201d cried Scrooge, calling downward to a boy in Sunday clothes, who perhaps had loitered in to look about him.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cEh?\u201d returned the boy, with all his might of wonder.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s to-day, my fine fellow?\u201d said Scrooge.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTo-day!\u201d replied the boy. \u201cWhy,\u00a0Christmas Day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s Christmas Day!\u201d said Scrooge to himself. \u201cI haven\u2019t missed it. The Spirits have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can. Of course they can. Hallo, my fine fellow!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cHallo!\u201d returned the boy.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDo you know the Poulterer\u2019s, in the next street but one, at the corner?\u201d Scrooge inquired.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI should hope I did,\u201d replied the lad.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAn intelligent boy!\u201d said Scrooge. \u201cA remarkable boy! Do you know whether they\u2019ve sold the prize Turkey that was hanging up there?\u2014Not the little prize Turkey: the big one?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat, the one as big as me?\u201d returned the boy.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhat a delightful boy!\u201d said Scrooge. \u201cIt\u2019s a pleasure to talk to him. Yes, my buck!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hanging there now,\u201d replied the boy.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIs it?\u201d said Scrooge. \u201cGo and buy it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWalk-er!\u201d exclaimed the boy.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo, no,\u201d said Scrooge, \u201cI am in earnest. Go and buy it, and tell \u2019em to bring it here, that I may give them the direction where to take it. Come back with the man, and I\u2019ll give you a shilling. Come back with him in less than five minutes and I\u2019ll give you half-a-crown!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n The boy was off like a shot. He must have had a steady hand at a trigger who could have got a shot off half so fast.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll send it to Bob Cratchit\u2019s!\u201d whispered Scrooge, rubbing his hands, and splitting with a laugh. \u201cHe sha\u2019n\u2019t know who sends it. It\u2019s twice the size of Tiny Tim. Joe Miller never made such a joke as sending it to Bob\u2019s will be!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
