So, we survived last night without major incident.\u00a0 The wind was banging stuff around the Compound for a good part of the night and even with the heat on through out the house it was about 64 degrees inside.\u00a0 Of course, at 7am it was -12 degrees by the thermometer outside Camera Girl\u2019s kitchen window.\u00a0 So, I\u2019m guessing it really was at least -15 degrees in the depths of the night.\u00a0 It\u2019s up to 10 degrees outside now and the middle floor is up to 65 degrees.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t had the courage to go downstairs where my gym equipment is.\u00a0 I\u2019ll bet it\u2019s in the thirties down there.\u00a0 Maybe I\u2019ll get up the courage to work out later but it\u2019s a daunting thought.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been reading the news items on the Chinese balloons.\u00a0 I have to say our country really has descended into farce.\u00a0 In fact, I think this is another marker showing how much we\u2019ve decayed.\u00a0 Our rivals now send spy equipment over our ICBM silos with impunity.\u00a0 What\u2019s next?\u00a0 Will China annex Hawaii?\u00a0 Considering what a pathetic figure we cut I really couldn\u2019t blame them for trying.<\/p>\n

Well, we\u2019ve made it past Groundhog Day and now we\u2019re headed for Valentine\u2019s Day and I\u2019ll have to think of something nice to do for Camera Girl.\u00a0 The malicious part of me, the part that belongs in a strait jacket, wanted to present the new toaster oven I got her yesterday as a Valentine Day present.\u00a0 Luckily my better angel got the upper hand.\u00a0 I think I\u2019ll take her out for a meal instead.\u00a0 She\u2019s been making all these great soups lately and I really should show my appreciation.<\/p>\n

So, I finally got my \u201cblue check\u201d on Twitter.\u00a0 It hasn\u2019t seemed to make any difference to my visibility but at least now if I\u2019m banished, I\u2019ll have the consolation that they won\u2019t get my eight bucks the next month (or whatever amount it is).<\/p>\n

There may be a special event happening on the site tomorrow.\u00a0 I had a notification about it but I\u2019ll wait to see if it pans out before I go into detail.\u00a0 The site has been livelier lately with more people participating in the comments and some new guest contributors coming aboard.\u00a0 And that suits me.\u00a0 I\u2019d love to get to the point where my contributions were in the minority.\u00a0 Does that make me a proponent of diversity.\u00a0 Well, probably not by the definition that the Left uses.\u00a0 But maybe by the one that should be used.<\/p>\n

So, things are going well.\u00a0 Next week is going to be a kind of busy week in the real world but I\u2019ll do my best to keep the site active and heaven knows what madness Dopey Joe and his merry band of morons will be cooking up for us.\u00a0 The State of the Union speech is coming up and I can\u2019t make up my mind whether I want to bother to watch it or not.\u00a0 I figure Ilhan Omar and the rest of the banshees might come wearing striped prison uniforms, manacles and leg irons.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t want to miss something like that but listening to the Moron in Chief gassing on and on for hours would be more than I could tolerate.\u00a0 Maybe I\u2019ll wait for the blooper reel.<\/p>\n
