{"id":22449,"date":"2023-02-23T21:09:51","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T02:09:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=22449"},"modified":"2023-12-05T11:56:05","modified_gmt":"2023-12-05T16:56:05","slug":"22449","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2023\/02\/23\/22449\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony A7 IV to Get Focus Stacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I check out the Sony camera rumors at (where else?) sonyalpharumors.com pretty regularly.\u00a0 So what do I see today?<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">RUMOR: Sony A7IV firmware update 2.0 is coming end of February! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Eh1Ad85BlS\">https:\/\/t.co\/Eh1Ad85BlS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; orionscoldfire (@orionscoldfire) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/orionscoldfire\/status\/1628936745575190529?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>And at the bottom of the short article it says<\/p>\n<p>One reliable source told me that the\u00a0Sony A7IV\u00a0will get a new firmware update 2.0 within the next couple of days! Another source told me that the <em><strong>new firmware update will include Focus Stacking.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now focus stacking is a wonderful option for a macro-photographer.\u00a0 Instead of hooking up some hokey laptop program or a manual focus advance trigger you just select the focus stacking option and let the camera do the work.\u00a0 Now Olympus gave this option to its customers years ago.\u00a0 But Sony, this giant electronics powerhouse isn&#8217;t up to the simple firmware update it would take.\u00a0 So seeing this really got me excited.<\/p>\n<p>But sonyalpharumors is called rumors for a reason.\u00a0 I&#8217;d say the chance of focus stacking being in the update is 10%.\u00a0 But hope springs eternal.\u00a0 So fingers crossed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This was a total myth.\u00a0 Nothing came of it.\u00a0 The only hopeful sign is that Sony is now beginning to provide some upgrades to their cameras on a pay basis.\u00a0 Maybe that presages a larger effort to provide firmware upgrades that people would pay for.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I check out the Sony camera rumors at (where else?) sonyalpharumors.com pretty regularly.\u00a0 So what do I see today?
