The Atlantic had an article called \u201cBig Cities Are Ungovernable.<\/a>\u201d\u00a0 The writer\u2019s thesis is basically that crime cannot be controlled by the mayors running these cities.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut more than anything else, crime is weighing mayors down.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well at least he admits that.\u00a0 Some lefty journalists are still claiming there is no crime problem. \u00a0The fact that Lori Lightfoot is being kicked to the curb after one term is almost solely because there is an epidemic of violent crime surging through Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrime is not, despite what some politicians might want you to believe, a uniquely urban problem. When violent crime surged around the nation starting in summer 2020, it surged in rural areas, too. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Notice the claim that it\u2019s not just the cities being afflicted.\u00a0 The dishonesty of this is typical.\u00a0 The same criminals who have taken over the cities are now expanding into the suburbs and exurbs to compensate for the flight by businesses from these same cities.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not the cities\u2019 policies that are at fault.\u00a0 It must be someone else who is responsible.\u00a0 It must be Trump\u2019s fault!<\/p>\n

\u201cLike presidents who are punished or rewarded for the performance of an economy over which they have little control, mayors don\u2019t have that many levers to control public safety, yet voters will punish whoever is in charge as they search for improvement. The rise in violence was a nationwide trend, underscoring the minimal effect of municipal policies on keeping residents safe. COVID, which seems connected to some of the crime increase, was nationwide too.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

More lying.\u00a0 Mayors have no control over crime!\u00a0 We\u2019re suppose to forget when and why all this began.\u00a0 The Democrat mayors and governors forced their police departments to stand down while the George Floyd rioters sacked and burned the downtown areas of almost all the major cities under their jurisdiction.\u00a0 This dimwit even manages to blame COVID for the surge in crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cA mayor can try to hire more police officers or reform the department, but that\u2019s slow. She can seek new leaders, but Chicago, for example, has churned through police superintendents recently to little effect.\u00a0 \u2026\u00a0 A mayor can try to address root causes through economic development, but that, too, is slow and subject to larger trends.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

And here is the final dishonesty, There\u2019s no quick solution to the problem.\u00a0 Adding police or hiring new police leaders is slow and won\u2019t result in a rapid decrease in crime.\u00a0\u00a0 Blah, blah, blah.\u00a0 These lies are absurd.\u00a0 Reestablishing law and order is as simple as telling the police officers that they are allowed to do their jobs again.\u00a0 Firing Soros elected prosecutors, reestablishing police qualified immunity from prosecution and announcing all this to the general public would result in an enormous change in the amount of crime going on in the cities.<\/p>\n

Now, granted, the prisons would be filled to capacity very quickly.\u00a0 Many criminals are morons and before they have a chance of adjusting to the new reality, they will be swept up in the new police activity.\u00a0 So new prisons will be needed.\u00a0 But that\u2019s a good thing.\u00a0 Taking homicidal maniacs off the streets should be job one for any law enforcement department.<\/p>\n

But this article wasn\u2019t written for you or me.\u00a0 It was written for Democrat residents of these cities currently plagued by rampaging criminals.\u00a0 They\u2019re being told that the criminals looting and assaulting them indiscriminately on the streets of these benighted metropolises really aren\u2019t the fault of the mayors.\u00a0 No, it\u2019s just unavoidable bad luck.\u00a0 Some mysterious force, possibly Trumpian in origin, is responsible for their cities being overrun by criminals of mostly one ethnic identity and that the mayors are completely blameless and helpless in its onslaught.<\/p>\n

Based on Lori Lightfoot\u2019s recent electoral ouster even Democrats don\u2019t believe this jazz.\u00a0 High profile Democrats have to make the correct noises in public, like the writer of this fantasy piece.\u00a0 But all but the most totally brain-washed remember the Summer of George Floyd and the Democrats\u2019 total surrender of their urban constituents to the fury of the rampaging but mostly peaceful arsonists, looters and thugs.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re three years into this new normal.\u00a0 The cities are changed in a way that cannot be ignored or explained by arguments like those provided by the writer of this present piece.\u00a0 To fix things the Democrat voters will have to admit defeat and give control over the levers of government power to people who will make law and order a priority.\u00a0 Republicans.<\/p>\n

Frankly we\u2019re not there yet.\u00a0 It still must get significantly worse.\u00a0 Possibly when the Lord Humongous first takes to the air waves and declares himself the supreme overlord of New York City and orders the first human sacrifices at City Hall then maybe even the Democrats will admit they\u2019re in over their heads.<\/p>\n

Personally, I\u2019d like it to go on for another two or three years.\u00a0 I\u2019ve always thought of cannibalism as the correct metric by which to judge where we are in terms of civilizational collapse.\u00a0 Until you can openly get human meat at the local butcher shop, we aren\u2019t even close to hitting bottom.\u00a0 So, I try to exhibit patience.\u00a0 We\u2019re not there yet.\u00a0 But we\u2019re getting there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
