{"id":23254,"date":"2023-04-16T13:29:25","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T17:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=23254"},"modified":"2023-04-16T13:30:27","modified_gmt":"2023-04-16T17:30:27","slug":"anheuser-busch-ceo-makes-statement-without-an-apology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/16\/anheuser-busch-ceo-makes-statement-without-an-apology\/","title":{"rendered":"Anheuser-Busch CEO Makes Statement Without an Apology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brendan Whitworth is the Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/04\/14\/anheuser-busch-exec-offers-flat-apology-following-bud-lights-dylan-mulvaney-backlash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On Friday he made a statement<\/a> about the Dylan Mulvaney sponsorship which basically said:<\/p>\n<p>NOTHING.<\/p>\n<p>He said.\u00a0<strong>\u201cWe never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,\u201d<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>\u201cWe are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So if they never intended to divide people why would they pick someone who by his very self-identification would antagonize the great majority of Bud Light customers?\u00a0 Well, because their corporate culture is antithetical to the beliefs of the people who they sell their product to.\u00a0 And they&#8217;d rather virtue-signal to their peers about how enlightened they are, even if it infuriates their customers.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite comment on this apology was: <strong>\u201cNOPE. Not good enough. Boycott continues until full apology, fire VP Mrkt, and Mulvaney dropped. Either that or Anheuser-Busch becomes the next Schlitz.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, this is the perfect test case.\u00a0 Bud Light is Joe Six-Pack&#8217;s go to beverage.\u00a0 If there is one product that could be boycotted to good effect it&#8217;s this one.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s the perfect time of year.\u00a0 We&#8217;re on the cusp of barbecue weather and baseball and every other sports event but football.\u00a0 So let&#8217;s just see where this goes.\u00a0 If you never hear another thing about this then it&#8217;s hopeless.\u00a0 Anheuser-Busch needs Bud Light profitable to stay in business.\u00a0 If they never give a real apology and fire the wicked witch of the west then basically we have no clout at all.\u00a0 So stay tuned.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll follow up on this one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brendan Whitworth is the Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO.\u00a0 On Friday he made a statement about the Dylan Mulvaney sponsorship which basically said: NOTHING.
