So, what to write about tonight?\u00a0 Tucker?\u00a0 Elon?\u00a0 The Biden Crime Family\u2019s Congressional investigation?\u00a0 Trump and his various legal problems.\u00a0 The Republican presidential contenders?\u00a0 Dementia Joe\u2019s sinking ratings?\u00a0 The crime-drenched cities?\u00a0 The invasion at the southern border?\u00a0 The collapsing banks?\u00a0 Stagflation?\u00a0 The Ukraine War?\u00a0 Bud Light\u2019s ongoing sales freefall?<\/p>\n

Meh.\u00a0 Just not in the mood.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s the crazy local things I\u2019m involved in.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s too much same old, same old.<\/p>\n

Well for whatever reason, let\u2019s talk about something different.<\/p>\n

I was reading recently about a studio that has been producing family friendly movies<\/a>.\u00a0 Mostly Christian movies but not exclusively.\u00a0 Let\u2019s call them Christian friendly.\u00a0 They recently had a hit with a movie called the Jesus Revolution, \u201ca feel-good movie about hippies who returned to Christ during the 1970s, starring former “Cheers” and “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer \u2013 has grossed more than $52 million since its debut just a few weeks ago, making it the most successful film released by studio heavyweight Lionsgate since 2019.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many years ago, I remember watching a few of the movies produced by Christian churches and other organizations.\u00a0 And although it was refreshing to see entertainment that stressed religious values and themes, they were notable for very simplistic plots and amateurish acting.\u00a0 I guess the cast was more living the moments of the plot rather than acting them.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201cThe biggest critique on Christian art of the last thirty plus years, is that it\u2019s not good, or it hasn\u2019t been good,\u201d said Terence Berry, COO of Wedgwood Circle, a nonprofit that connects investors and creators to develop projects that are informed by their Christian faith. \u201cAnd I do think there have been huge strides made in people creating content for the faith market.\u201d\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Move forward twenty years and the producers now out there like Wedgwood and Angel Studios are producing movies that can be viewed by mainstream audiences without eye-rolling.\u00a0 Berry calls it \u201ca third way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201cCan you offer stuff that is not perceived as faith market, and that is really well done, and it\u2019s good, true, and beautiful, and it\u2019s speaking to larger questions and it is aligned with your faith,\u201d he asked, \u201cbut it is done so in a way that allows other people from outside the faith to engage and like that content?\u201d\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the article the writer mentions that these producers are producing movies and arranging theater distribution using both investor and crowd-funded capital.\u00a0 And the products include movies, music, books, television, and radio shows.\u00a0 In fact, there are even animated movies in the works.<\/p>\n

So why is this interesting?<\/p>\n

I think because Hollywood is melting down.\u00a0 Other than super hero movies Hollywood has only had a very few actual blockbuster hits in the last ten years.\u00a0 Tom Cruise in Top Gun is that exception that proves the rule.\u00a0 And it\u2019s especially relevant because it\u2019s one of the few movies that bucks all the stupid trends that have cost Hollywood its audience.\u00a0 It\u2019s patriotic.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t pound away at woke tropes.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t replace entertainment with an agenda.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t denigrate its audience.<\/p>\n

So, with Hollywood marching into the ocean and at the same time starving audiences for wholesome content.\u00a0 And with streaming and the lower price of computer-generated imaging making fantasy and other genera movies orders of magnitude cheaper than just a few years ago, this is the perfect time for small production companies to provide people with entertainment choices they sorely lack.<\/p>\n

And I think it\u2019s finally, finally beginning to happen.\u00a0 I\u2019ve watched some short sci-fi movies on YouTube that come close to Hollywood level special effects.\u00a0 And because of how Hollywood is using \u201cdiversity, inclusion and equity\u201d there are many unemployed straight, white, male actors, writers, directors and other creatives that could use work.\u00a0 In such an environment I think we\u2019ll start seeing more and more breakout productions that owe their success to giving people the entertainment that Hollywood refuses to produce.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the point.\u00a0 All of these people trying to produce this content didn\u2019t get into it because they always wanted to build their own movie studios.\u00a0 They\u2019re doing it because the movie studios told them that the content they wanted was wrong and shouldn\u2019t exist.\u00a0 So, they had to become movie makers.\u00a0 Same thing with book authors.\u00a0 The books we like are so evil that the publishers are retroactively changing the text of old classics like Roald Dahl\u2019s children\u2019s books.\u00a0 Same for music, same for art.\u00a0 Same for education.\u00a0 If we want what we think is right we\u2019re going to have to make it ourselves.\u00a0 Internalize that and employ it as needed in your life and you\u2019ll start changing things for the better.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t like the crap on display in woke world then search out something better at the fringes.\u00a0 And if that doesn\u2019t exist, then do it yourself.\u00a0 That\u2019s the lesson.<\/p>\n

I intend to start looking for some of these movie projects and try them out.\u00a0 I\u2019ll report back on what I find.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
