{"id":24479,"date":"2023-06-24T11:10:40","date_gmt":"2023-06-24T15:10:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=24479"},"modified":"2023-06-24T11:10:40","modified_gmt":"2023-06-24T15:10:40","slug":"an-observation-on-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2023\/06\/24\/an-observation-on-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"An Observation on Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Right now Vladimir Putin is battling against internal and external foes that beggar the imagination.\u00a0 He has a war on his flank, NATO arming and training his enemy, the Western world strangling off commerce and trade and a mad general in revolt at his doorstep.<\/p>\n<p>And yet when he speaks to his nation he sounds like this.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Russian President Vladimir Putin addresses the apparent coup attempt by Wagner.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YIOeOYVYLL\">pic.twitter.com\/YIOeOYVYLL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; ALX \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@alx) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alx\/status\/1672595928576917504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 24, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>By comparison we&#8217;ve had Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush and Clinton as our leaders over the last thirty years.\u00a0 We are led by men who in at least one case can&#8217;t even articulate a complete sentence off a teleprompter.\u00a0 Even Clinton, who was glib, could never inspire his country.<\/p>\n<p>Putin is not our leader.\u00a0 Russia is not our country.\u00a0 But if honesty matters at all, it&#8217;s necessary to admit that we are led by, at best, mediocrities and in some cases fools.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t envy the Russians their situation.\u00a0 It is beyond dire.\u00a0 It&#8217;s catastrophic.\u00a0 And come to think of it, I&#8217;m not so sanguine about our own prospects.\u00a0 Pushing a desperate man to the brink who controls an enormous arsenal of nuclear ICBMs is not exactly rational.\u00a0 We could be hearing some very bad news at any time.<\/p>\n<p>But to finish my thought.\u00a0 I wish we had a leader that was half as eloquent, even half as rational.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t need a Caesar or a Napoleon.\u00a0 We could use a Pericles but I&#8217;d settle for a Washington.\u00a0 Instead we&#8217;ve got Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Biden appears &#039;lost&#039; in White House event as guests swarm around Barack Obama instead\" width=\"783\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QGRxVITBGOA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Right now Vladimir Putin is battling against internal and external foes that beggar the imagination.\u00a0 He has a war on his flank, NATO arming and<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[1832,2827,1262],"class_list":["post-24479","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","tag-joe-biden","tag-leadership","tag-vladimir-putin"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
