So, I watched Tucker\u2019s interview.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t watch the debate.\u00a0 This morning I\u2019ve seen a few clips.\u00a0 My first reaction is that Fox News is essentially MSNBC with slightly less crazy, slightly less homely teleprompter readers.\u00a0 My second reaction is that Chris Christie and Nikki Haley must be competing to be Joe Biden\u2019s running mate.\u00a0 Past that I don\u2019t think it matters.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re in a lot of trouble.<\/p>\n
I guess I already knew that but watching these things drives the point home.\u00a0 It\u2019s quite disturbing.\u00a0 I guess the cavalry won\u2019t be coming over the hill with bugles blaring and sabers flashing.\u00a0 We\u2019re on our own.<\/p>\n
Alright, snap out of it!\u00a0 Nobody wants to read stuff like that.<\/p>\n
On the upside we had three sunny warm days in a row.\u00a0 That brought out some butterflies and other large insects.\u00a0 Very good for some microphotographic opportunities.\u00a0 Even with the grandkids here I\u2019ve been able to steal away to get some time with the camera and macro lens.\u00a0 Next week the kids start school and Camera Girl will be sad.\u00a0 But she has much to look forward to.\u00a0 She has relented in her determination to get me to buy her a giant rabbit, specifically a Flemish Giant.\u00a0 Other than as a source of food, rabbits don\u2019t really seem to serve any purpose, to my mind.\u00a0 But Camera Girl has been campaigning for one for several months.\u00a0 After many attempts to dissuade her, I eventually capitulated to this demand.<\/p>\n
But once it sunk in that Princess Sack of Potatoes was really starting kindergarten and she wouldn\u2019t have anything to mother, Camera Girl knew a rabbit wouldn\u2019t suffice. \u00a0So, she switched gears and demanded a puppy.\u00a0 And I gave up without a fight.\u00a0 Because a puppy in the house is infinitely better than a rabbit in the yard when it\u2019s 10 \u03bf<\/sup>F outside and the rabbit needs liquid water.\u00a0 Or a hundred other things that need to be done for the rabbit outside when I\u2019d rather be inside.<\/p>\n So, yeah, sure.\u00a0 A puppy will be joining the menagerie sometime later this year.\u00a0 Not that it\u2019s a wholly good thing.\u00a0 Camera Girl is absolutely the worst dog trainer in the history of man\u2019s association with these canine freeloaders.\u00a0 Whereas with her children and grandchildren she is a loving but stern disciplinarian, with her dogs she\u2019s useless.\u00a0 They walk all over her and lack even the rudiments of obedience.\u00a0 It\u2019s pathetic and annoying.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve toyed with the idea of taking over the dog training job for this new recruit.\u00a0 After all, as paterfamilias it is my right and responsibility to hand down rough justice to my vassals.\u00a0 And at this point, vassal-wise, this dog may be the end of the line for me.\u00a0 So, the logic of it is there.\u00a0 At the same time, Camera Girl will be working behind the scenes undercutting my authority and spoiling the dog behind my back every chance she gets.\u00a0 Obviously, the choice is fraught with peril.\u00a0 I must choose carefully.\u00a0 Perhaps I will consult Marcus Aurelius or possibly Aristotle.\u00a0 Homer Simpson or Al Bundy?\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n So, this last full week before school is moving along, powered by LEGO blocks, old Disney movies, Camera girl\u2019s short order cooking and my manly grit, determination and panache.\u00a0 We will persevere and by next Thursday quiet and order will descend on the Compound and a new era of productivity will reign on the site.\u00a0 Excelsior!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" So, I watched Tucker\u2019s interview.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t watch the debate.\u00a0 This morning I\u2019ve seen a few clips.\u00a0 My first reaction is that Fox News is<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[3344,300,83],"class_list":["post-25300","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","tag-2024-elections","tag-camera-girl","tag-family"],"yoast_head":"\n
