Our regime is pathetic.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t mean just Menendez.\u00a0 I don\u2019t consider Obama or the Clintons or even the Bushes as an upgrade.\u00a0 I mean altogether.\u00a0 These people are simply parasites that in no way improve the country.\u00a0 A Pericles or a Julius Caesar aggrandized himself via the power of the state that he ruled.\u00a0 Even Pericles was accused of stealing some of the funds used to build the Parthenon.\u00a0 But no one would accuse either of those two men of not acting to improve the strength of their countries.\u00a0 Each acted in both peace and war to make his nation a stronger and richer place.<\/p>\n
It’s inconceivable that anyone could make that claim for George W Bush or Barack Obama.\u00a0 And as for Joe Biden, when he isn\u2019t molesting women and children, he\u2019s filling his pockets with graft money.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Our ruling class are nothing but vultures picking the bones of the carcass of the United States while they reshape the world into an oligarchic network under the aegis of their control.<\/p>\n
So, I guess the question is, can anything be done to recruit a new elite? \u00a0It\u2019s not a simple question.\u00a0 Donald Trump threw his hat in the ring eight years ago and he got bounced out.\u00a0 The present regime has a pretty tight grip on the reins of power.\u00a0 And now that they\u2019ve measured the threat from Trump, they\u2019ve pulled out all the stops to neutralize him.<\/p>\n
But maybe there will be a second act.<\/p>\n
The present regime has done so much damage with the Green Initiative, the COVID debacle and the George Floyd color revolution that things just haven\u2019t returned to anything like a normal state.\u00a0 The cities are a shambles and the economy is severely impacted by both the high consumer inflation and the deleterious effects of high interest rates for business borrowing.\u00a0 Many banks find themselves with underwater bond portfolios and uncertainties over bad real estate holdings in the city centers.<\/p>\n
With so much going wrong all at the same time it\u2019s possible that even our ultra-corrupt elites might think it was time to put sane people in charge.\u00a0 Of course, then they\u2019d have to find sane people.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure how they\u2019d do that.\u00a0 And at this point, the Republican voters want Trump to be their tribune.\u00a0 So, these experts would have to work with and through him.\u00a0 But this is Trump\u2019s last stand.\u00a0 Whether he wins or loses he\u2019s done after this campaign.\u00a0 His vice-presidential pick is a pretty important choice.\u00a0 He may be choosing the next president after him.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not sure who is the right one.\u00a0 For lack of another choice, I\u2019d say Ron DeSantis.\u00a0 In his favor, he and Trump don\u2019t like each other.\u00a0 I think that\u2019s a good situation for them.\u00a0 Also, Trump needs a smart decisive guy who can get things done, someone he can delegate jobs to.\u00a0 I think DeSantis can do that.\u00a0 I also think he\u2019ll grow in the role and be ready in four years to run on his own.<\/p>\n
But whoever Trump picks he shouldn\u2019t select a diversity symbol like Nikki Haley or Tim Scott.\u00a0 Now, Ramaswamy is interesting but I\u2019ll confess I know nothing about him other than his recent debate rhetoric.\u00a0 For all I know he\u2019s trojan horse.\u00a0 But we definitely need someone smart and ruthless.<\/p>\n
The problem with all this is the element of control that the administrative state wields against both Congress and the White House.\u00a0 And the only possible way that this control could be overcome would be if the legislative and executive leadership worked along with the Supreme Court to scale back the power that the bureaucracy has been imbued with.\u00a0 In fact, it might take more.\u00a0 It might require military action to wrench control from those men.\u00a0 And we know that the military isn\u2019t the loyal servant of the people it used to be.<\/p>\n
All of this is in the way of musing about things we are already aware of.\u00a0 What would make a change possible is if some of the elites defect to Trump.\u00a0 Could that happen.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s possible.\u00a0 The destabilization of the country is reaching a level that must be troubling even for the people who live in safe enclaves far from street violence and decay.\u00a0 When billionaires start fleeing New York and Chicago for Tennessee and Florida that\u2019s a sea change.<\/p>\n
And the last problem is what vision would an elite revolution have for our country?\u00a0 Fixing some of the crazier policies of the Biden administration and cleaning up government doesn\u2019t necessarily herald the beginning of a renaissance for the middle class.\u00a0 The elites love their cheap labor.\u00a0 Closing the border may not be one of the things they care about.\u00a0 This I think of as a real problem.\u00a0 They may restore law and order in the cities but allow a very loose immigration policy to continue.<\/p>\n
So even if Trump wins next year what will come of it?\u00a0 Only something like an elite defection seems like it would permit the reform that is needed to get us out of the death trap we find ourselves in.<\/p>\n
For whatever reason, I currently think it\u2019s possible that such a thing could happen.\u00a0 Maybe tomorrow I won\u2019t.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
