{"id":2622,"date":"2018-04-15T17:18:33","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T21:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=2622"},"modified":"2018-04-15T21:54:46","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T01:54:46","slug":"a-different-kind-of-red-shift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2018\/04\/15\/a-different-kind-of-red-shift\/","title":{"rendered":"A Different Kind of Red Shift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of day ago I linked to a post on American Greatness by Angelo Codevilla <a href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2018\/04\/13\/living-with-politics-as-war\/\">https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2018\/04\/13\/living-with-politics-as-war\/<\/a> .\u00a0 I\u2019d like to elaborate a little what I think is interesting about this article.\u00a0 Vox Day has often said (and I paraphrase) \u00a0that the Alt-Right (or Dissident Right or whatever else you call it) will have arrived when the normies have shifted so far to the right that their views can only be distinguished from the Alt-Right by tactics and not by what they believe are the facts on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I think I\u2019m seeing that happen in real time.\u00a0 Codevilla is a mainstream academic figure and not an Alt-Right provocateur.\u00a0 Reading his description of where the country now is and what to do about it is to realize that the idea of going back to a consensus society is effectively dead.\u00a0 The only question between the normal traditionalists and the Alt-Right is whether we just set up separate shops under the nominally United States or fight a civil war to establish borders between enemy states.\u00a0 That is remarkable.\u00a0 It should be disquieting for me but it isn\u2019t.\u00a0 I still think it will be a bloodless divorce but either way I think we should get on with it.<\/p>\n<p>Codevilla goes through the various arenas where Leftist coercion is the most egregious (schools and colleges, corporate blackmail and de-platforming) and suggests that federal coercion will be less effective than it was formerly and that state legislatures may ignore federal precepts and just go their own way as they have lately on drug enforcement.\u00a0 Whether he is correct about the federal government giving up on some of its control of local behavior isn\u2019t clear to me but I do think that push back from the right is likely to increase in strength in the future.<\/p>\n<p>So Vox is fond of saying, and I quote, \u201cThe Alt-Right is inevitable.\u201d\u00a0 Depending on how you want to define the Alt-Right we may be seeing proof of his statement.\u00a0 And if that means the vast majority of non-leftists waking up to the necessity of casting off the oppression of the Left then I am 100% on-board.\u00a0 Long live the Revolution.\u00a0 Off with their heads (or at least throw the bums out).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[socialpoll id=&#8221;2497288&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of day ago I linked to a post on American Greatness by Angelo Codevilla https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2018\/04\/13\/living-with-politics-as-war\/ .\u00a0 I\u2019d like to elaborate a little what<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,245,237],"tags":[80,566,970,969,14],"class_list":["post-2622","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","category-review-of-article","category-reviews","tag-alt-right","tag-angelo-codevilla","tag-left-right-split","tag-overton-window","tag-vox-day"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
