{"id":26284,"date":"2023-11-13T05:00:57","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T10:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=26284"},"modified":"2023-11-13T00:20:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T05:20:13","slug":"revenge-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/13\/revenge-term\/","title":{"rendered":"Revenge Term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2023\/nov\/11\/donald-trump-president-2024-biden-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an article in the Guardian<\/a> (I know, I know) called \u201cA revenge term: what would another four years of Trump look like?\u201d\u00a0 It contained such lines as,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cI think it would be the end of our country as we know it,\u201d Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, said on the ABC talk show The View this week. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t say that lightly.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cAllan Lichtman, a history professor at American University in Washington, said: \u201cIt would be a disaster for America. He\u2019s already made it very clear that his second term is going to be a revenge term. He\u2019s going to use the power of government to persecute and prosecute his enemies and to cement his own power, or at least the power of his allies and cronies.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It really was a great read.\u00a0 All the talk of revenge and firing the Deep State was wonderfully exciting.\u00a0 And it was just funny that they can\u2019t see that revenge is exactly what the Justice Department has been engaged in for the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>But then I knew I had to get back to the real world.\u00a0 Well, sort of.\u00a0 After another meaningless Republican debate, Senator Tim Scott has ended his campaign.\u00a0 That makes sense, I guess.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think he ever got higher than 4%.\u00a0 The amusing part of the primary is how excited the establishment types at Fox News get about Nikki Haley, \u201cShe\u2019s surging in the polls.\u201d\u00a0 What, from 3% to 6%?\u00a0 And they talk about how well she\u2019d run against Joe Biden.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got to be kidding.\u00a0 If Nikki Haley is the Republican candidate none of Trump\u2019s 60% will even bother to show up to vote.\u00a0 Haley may be a Republican.\u00a0 In fact, she\u2019s a Jeb Bush Republican.\u00a0 But conservative she is not.\u00a0 And to be fair America already had a chance to vote for that kind of Republican in 2008 and 2012 with John McCain and Mitt Romney.\u00a0 But eight years of George W Bush back at the turn of the century showed us why RINOs aren\u2019t a good idea.<\/p>\n<p>But they\u2019ll keep pushing her as if it\u2019s some kind of brilliant idea, \u201cShe\u2019s a woman!\u00a0 She\u2019s non-white!\u00a0 She loves abortion!\u00a0 We\u2019ll get the woman and black vote, right?\u201d\u00a0 Ah, if only she were a lesbian, then they\u2019d have the trifecta.\u00a0 Well, half a loaf, right?<\/p>\n<p>But I think the Republican debate thing is just about played out.\u00a0 Ramaswamy is doing the Trump act, and give him his due, a lot of what he says is true but let\u2019s face it.\u00a0 He\u2019s not going to be Trump\u2019s VP.\u00a0 I did hear that talk that Tucker Carlson would make a good VP pick.\u00a0 And maybe he would.\u00a0 Not that I think he\u2019d accept.\u00a0 I think he\u2019s smart enough to know that his life would become much less fun if he became Vice President.\u00a0 But in terms of who would be preferable I think that would be Ron DeSantis and from what I can tell Trump can\u2019t stand him.\u00a0 Hopefully this time Trump picks someone more courageous that that empty suit Pence.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I won\u2019t belabor the current situation in the 2024 race.\u00a0 This is a check-in.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got a whole year for Joe Biden to fall below 25% in the polls.\u00a0 No need to rush it now.\u00a0 We can savor it later.\u00a0 \u201cRevenge term,\u201d I like the sound of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an article in the Guardian (I know, I know) called \u201cA revenge term: what would another four years of Trump look like?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[3344,1110,16],"class_list":["post-26284","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-current-events","tag-2024-elections","tag-stupid-party","tag-trump"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
