So, we\u2019re hosting most of the family this year.\u00a0 Camera Girl has outdone herself with five different pies and a twenty-five-pound turkey.\u00a0 I predict that by the end of the feast I\u2019ll be almost immobile.\u00a0 But I\u2019ll try to keep the grandkids amused with various holiday traditions.\u00a0 At some point I will break out the \u201cMarch of the Wooden Soldiers\u201d and maybe \u201cGulliver\u2019s Travels.\u201d\u00a0 Of course, both of these are 1930s vintage versions.<\/p>\n

Hopefully we\u2019ll head down to the first floor to play some pool and later on will come the pie and ice cream and coffee and some penny ante poker.\u00a0 And I\u2019ll ask my grandsons what\u2019s going on at school and what\u2019s happening around town.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll be brought up to date on whatever Pok\u00e9mon acquisitions the youngest one has negotiated.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never really figured out what Pok\u00e9mon actually is.\u00a0 I assume it\u2019s similar in intent to how we collected baseball cards as kids.\u00a0 All I know is that there are thousands of different cards and some are \u201cworth\u201d thousands of dollars.\u00a0 But to whom?<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve had our first dusting of snow.\u00a0 It changed into rain in the morning and I went out with the shovel and cleared the slop off of the driveway.\u00a0 And that\u2019s necessary.\u00a0 It freezes at night now and that slushy mess would have turned my driveways into skating rinks by tomorrow morning and that is something I don\u2019t need on Thanksgiving.\u00a0 So, we\u2019ve broken the ice, so to speak, and have now transitioned into winter.\u00a0 Of course, I\u2019m way behind on my yard work.\u00a0 And this makes it worse.\u00a0 But it\u2019s Thanksgiving so I\u2019ve absolved myself of all blame and won\u2019t think about it until Monday (or Tuesday).<\/p>\n

It’s interesting.\u00a0 Two recent international elections seem to be indicating a deep dissatisfaction with the Left\u2019s incompetent economic and social programs.\u00a0 Maybe 2024 will be more than just an American protest year.\u00a0 Maybe the genie is out of the bottle and a whole lot of people are fed up with dysfunctional, incompetent, delusional Leftist ideas in general.\u00a0 If it is we\u2019ll see much more in the way of signs in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s minions keep popping up in the Times and the Post announcing how the economy is turning a corner and how wonderful everything is becoming.\u00a0 The latest hype is that inflation is reversing and now they have to be careful not to cause deflation.\u00a0 The delusional nature of this nonsense is absurd.\u00a0 It flies in the face of everyone\u2019s knowledge of the cost of commodities in the recent past.\u00a0 Everyone who has to run a household knows that everything is now vastly more expensive.\u00a0 Things like cold-cuts have now become prohibitively expensive for many families.\u00a0 Even staples like bread and vegetables have to be purchased with an eye out for sales.\u00a0 But the Biden evangelists keep up the happy talk hoping that the stupid will buy into the lie.\u00a0 As jaded as I\u2019ve become with fraudulent elections, I\u2019m still curious to see if a point might be reached where even the people faking the elections might think it was in their interest to get the Democrats out of power, if only out of fear that the economy might completely collapse under the weight of complete incompetence.<\/p>\n

Well, for one day we won\u2019t worry about the cost of food.\u00a0 There are going to be pumpkin, apple, coconut custard, sweet potato and chocolate pudding pies with whipped cream and ice cream and who knows what other desserts.\u00a0 There\u2019s going to be turkey and sausage stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy.\u00a0 And another whole list of side dishes that I can\u2019t even remember, but I know there will be candied yams and two kinds of buttered rolls.\u00a0 So, I have a lot to be thankful for.\u00a0 I hope your holiday goes well and I will check in from time to time.<\/p>\n
