JB \u2013 Welcome back to the PBS News Hour.\u00a0 I\u2019m your host Jiff Benetton and I\u2019m here with New York Times columnist David Brooks-Brothers and Washington Post editor Jonathan Capon and we\u2019re here to talk about the Biden reelection campaign strategy.\u00a0 Tell me David, what do you think should be the Biden campaign\u2019s highest priority right now.<\/p>\n
DBB \u2013 Well Jiff, If I\u2019m being honest, I think they should try to limit the number of new shooting wars to one per week.\u00a0 Not that shooting wars are wrong or anything but it\u2019s kind of a tradition to try and explain why we\u2019re blowing up foreigners in some sort of detail.\u00a0 I mean, it\u2019s hard enough to explain who the Houthis are and why they\u2019re not called Yemenis and where Yemen is on the map.\u00a0 A recent survey revealed that 73% of Americans polled, identified the Houthis as inhabitants of the ice planet Hoth in Star Wars Episode 5; whereas in reality the desert home of the Houthis is more akin to Tatooine the home of the Tusken Raiders in Episode 4, or as I like to call it \u201cthe real Star Wars.\u201d.<\/p>\n
But all of this is happening while we\u2019re still trying to explain why the Ukraine wants the Israelis\u2019 money and it\u2019s leading to confusion.\u00a0 People are starting to get frustrated with all the flag icons they have to list on their profile on X.\u00a0 Someone attempted to post the Yemeni flag with a slash through it and accidentally identified himself with the Cricket Liberation Front and a tragedy ensued.\u00a0 As a simplifying strategy, during the next White House press conference I\u2019d have Haitian Bette Boop say that all of these places are just different parts of Ukraine.\u00a0 That would be best.<\/p>\n
JB \u2013 Jonathan, what\u2019s your take on the reelection situation?<\/p>\n
JC \u2013 Jiff, I have just one word for Joe; FABULOUS!!!!\u00a0 What the Biden campaign needs is fierce queer energy.\u00a0 Joe needs a makeover.\u00a0 A beehive blue wig, three-inch scarlet fingernails, stiletto heels and a B&D leather two piece should be enough to get this campaign moving.\u00a0 They should bring in RuPaul as an image consultant and maybe give the First Lady a year-long furlough to an old age home to give the president room to explore his wild side.\u00a0 I feel confident with Jolene Biden on the prowl the 2024 election will be jumping.\u00a0 The campaign will become one big dance party!<\/p>\n
JB \u2013 Dave, care to comment?<\/p>\n
DBB \u2013 Uhhhhh, yeah.\u00a0 I\u2019m a little uncertain about Joe Biden as a drag queen candidate.\u00a0 I\u2019m not a hundred percent sure that the American public is ready for that much excitement.\u00a0 In fact I\u2019m pretty sure they want less Biden on their news feed.<\/p>\n
JB \u2013 What are you saying David?<\/p>\n
DBB \u2013 A recent poll found that 78% of Democratic voters wanted President Biden to make up fewer lies when he spoke to the press.\u00a0 52% of Democratic voters said they were more likely to vote for Biden if he just hid out and didn\u2019t show his face to the public until after the election.\u00a0 I think that Drag Queen Biden would be unlikely to enhance his poll numbers.<\/p>\n
JC \u2013 You know David, I always thought you were an ally but you sound just like a minion of the patriarchy spewing hate and trying to harsh the buzz that we LGBTQ people feel.\u00a0 You white, straight, cis-gender males are the enemy of all that is queer and beautiful.\u00a0 You should be ashamed for disparaging fabulous Jolene Biden and the White House Drag Extravaganza.<\/p>\n
DBB \u2013 Yes, Jonathan.\u00a0 \u2026\u00a0 I\u2019m very ashamed.\u00a0 In fact, I\u2019ve gotta get out of here right now. (walks off the set).<\/p>\n
JB \u2013 Well folks, you\u2019ve witnessed history right here.\u00a0 The patriarchy is reeling out of control and crashing to the ground.\u00a0 If only there were a disco ball in this studio, we could celebrate the way we should.<\/p>\n
