I scanned through about five minutes of Joe Biden\u2019s \u201cold man shouting at the camera\u201d routine.\u00a0 Well, he didn\u2019t fall down or begin speaking literal gibberish.\u00a0 But I found it intolerable after just a few minutes.\u00a0 I guess it could be summed up as Ukraine, abortion and January 6th<\/sup>.\u201d\u00a0 Okay, let\u2019s see how that works out for him.\u00a0 Maybe everyone will forget that their jobs are being given to illegal aliens that are also assaulting and murdering their wives and daughters.\u00a0 And maybe they\u2019ll forget that everything is now twice as expensive as it was during Trump\u2019s term in office.\u00a0 So maybe the Dems will be able to win the November election by fraud.\u00a0 I guess we\u2019ll see.\u00a0 But it\u2019s time to look around and spend our time thinking about and doing things that we consider important.<\/p>\n

And that goes for me too.\u00a0 Serializing my incomplete novel has been an interesting experience for me.\u00a0 It has taken me a lot of time to get about half way through writing it and you kind of forget how you thought up various scenes and bits of dialogue.\u00a0 So, seeing the beginning again is an odd case of seeing it with new eyes.\u00a0 I guess I\u2019ve been pleasantly surprised with what I\u2019ve reread.\u00a0 It seems to hold up pretty well.\u00a0 Of course, you always find small mistakes and even inconsistencies that have to be tweaked.\u00a0 But all in all, it isn\u2019t half bad.\u00a0 And that is immensely gratifying for me and gives me the encouragement I need to start banging away at the second half of the story.\u00a0 And this rereading has also given me some new insights into some additions that I need to make to fill in some holes that I now find in the story.\u00a0 It really was necessary to get about this far in the story before I could have enough perspective about the tempo and the balance of the various story lines.<\/p>\n

Of course, the hardest part for an author is to find a publisher and\/or a market for his literary offspring.\u00a0 After listening to a podcast about how incredibly difficult it is to get self-published science fiction novels \u201crecognized\u201d on the Kindle site I think I\u2019ll try to see if I can interest any of the traditional publishing companies in my deathless prose.\u00a0 After all, who could fail to recognize the brilliant writing, the deep psychological truth in the characters\u2019 underpinnings and the timeless quality of the epic struggle between the King of the Mole Men and the faceless, soulless minions of unspeakable evil?\u00a0 Wait a minute.\u00a0 Is mole-men two words or a hyphenate?<\/p>\n

Well, regardless.\u00a0 Thanks to all that have plowed through the chapters and please feel free to send along criticism and thoughts on how you think the story should proceed.\u00a0 I\u2019ve only put up on the site about two thirds of what I\u2019ve already written so there\u2019s still a bit to go but I\u2019m sure many people can guess some of how this story proceeds.\u00a0 There is an inexorable logic to how a clandestine war is prosecuted and where the dramatic tension needs to exist.\u00a0 Suffice it to say that things need to start going wrong for our heroes pretty soon.\u00a0 But I\u2019m sure everything will be resolved by the final chapter.<\/p>\n

Or maybe not everything.\u00a0 There\u2019s always got to be a sequel you know.<\/p>\n
