{"id":2918,"date":"2018-05-15T09:06:29","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T13:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/?p=2918"},"modified":"2018-05-15T09:06:29","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T13:06:29","slug":"a-quick-note-on-the-sony-a7-iii-sensitivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionscoldfire.com\/index.php\/2018\/05\/15\/a-quick-note-on-the-sony-a7-iii-sensitivity\/","title":{"rendered":"A Quick Note on the Sony A7 III Sensitivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shooting with extremely long lenses like the 150-600mm Sigma requires higher shutter speed and to compensate for this, higher ISO levels are required.\u00a0 This gave me a chance of seeing the result of using 6,400 and 10,000 (and higher) ISO sensitivities.\u00a0 And I will tell you I am extremely impressed.\u00a0 I have a hummingbird picture at 6,400 that is perfectly fine.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure if I subjected it to very close scrutiny and blew it up to 200% I&#8217;d find issues.\u00a0 And that would be crazy.\u00a0 My point is this camera has really excellent 6,400 ISO results.\u00a0 The next test is to take some photos at that sensitivity in a low light indoor environment.\u00a0 If it passes that test then this is the camera I was looking for when I was looking for a successor for the Sony A-850 in 2011.\u00a0 The A850 was a great camera.\u00a0 It had a best in class 24 megapixel sensor and\u00a0 shot beautiful 100 ISO photos.\u00a0 Even 200, 400 and even kinda sorta 800 ISO photos were also very good.\u00a0 but try to take photos in a restaurant at 100 or even 800 ISO.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll have motion blur and worse.\u00a0 So I used to take 3,200 and 6,400 ISO shots that looked like a Monet painting with color noise swirling around everything.\u00a0 I tried to convince myself that I liked the result but it was pathetic.\u00a0 Now here I am a mere seven years later and all&#8217;s right with the world.\u00a0 Well, that&#8217;s assuming the indoor tests go as hoped.\u00a0 That also assumes the low light autofocus is as advertised.\u00a0 Stay tuned.\u00a0 Results will follow soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shooting with extremely long lenses like the 150-600mm Sigma requires higher shutter speed and to compensate for this, higher ISO levels are required.\u00a0 This gave<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[660,3,659],"tags":[1064,20,32,330,1063],"class_list":["post-2918","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-camera-reviews","category-photography","category-photography-reviews","tag-high-iso","tag-sony","tag-sony-a7-cameras","tag-sony-a7-iii","tag-sony-a850"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.4 -
