Classic Horror Movies<\/strong><\/p>\n

Okay, the category is one of those inconsistent constructs.\u00a0 Why not call them classic monster movies?\u00a0 How do you define classic?\u00a0 What is the allowable chronological range?\u00a0 Are silent movies included?\u00a0 Well, I\u2019m fudging all of these and just selecting what I want to, no matter that logical consistency probably goes out the window.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s look at my list.\u00a0 Basically, it\u2019s the Universal monster movies in their heyday along with \u201cNosferatu,\u201d \u201cIsland of Lost Souls\u201d and \u201cHouse on Haunted Hill\u201d thrown in for dubious reasons (basically because I like them).\u00a0 I\u2019ve left out a dozen Universal films that could just as easily have been included and I\u2019ve included \u201cThe Invisible Man\u201d and \u201cDr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde\u201d which really belong in a list of early science fiction stories.\u00a0 But that probably applies to the Frankenstein movies too.\u00a0 So, the whole thing is incredibly subjective and personal in nature.<\/p>\n

So, I won\u2019t belabor the point any longer and will instead chalk this up to a labor of love.\u00a0 As a little kid I thoroughly enjoyed these movies and hundreds more that provided a similar thrill.\u00a0 List your favorites in the comments.\u00a0 If you want my detailed reviews of most of these movies do a search on the site by title.<\/p>\n
